Favorite core Disney characters?

Post by Disney's Divinity »

Who are your favorite Disney core characters and why? Are there specific iterations of a character you prefer (ie, Goofy in A Goofy Movie, Scrooge in Mickey's Christmas Carol versus DuckTales, Donald's nephews as they appear in Quack Pack, etc.)?

There are plenty more out there than what I could put in the poll, like Phantom Blot, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, etc., so if you want to list them, too, by all means.

I've always liked Donald Duck as my top favorite.

His character has been pretty consistent from the time he was created, even if some of his animated adventures were less interesting than others. His best stories are quite relatable, be they small ones where he's with Daisy, or larger ones where he's making new friends in Latin America, or discovering new things in a mathematical land.

I've also liked Mickey, though like many, I have to discern between his adventurous persona(s) and his blank slate persona. In either instance, one would have to try very hard to dislike him outright.

Hmm, I just realized I definitely prefer the duck characters, and yes, even Daisy when she's given a chance in the spotlight.

In most media of them, I almost always like:

1. Donald Duck
2. Scrooge McDuck
3. Figaro
4. Pluto
5. Max Goof

I loved the shorts with Chip 'n' Dale (and Donald/Figaro), but I always wanted to see Donald or Pluto win at the end, tbh (same thing with Huey, Dewey, and Louie, even though Donald deserved what he got in some shorts). I guess that wouldn't have been possible, because then CnD would've died. I did like Chip in Rescue Rangers. Never been much of a Dale fan.

The only two times I can remember not liking Donald were the Three Musketeers DTV movie and, strangely enough, DuckTales. He's pretty much gold in everything else. I've never cared for Mickey or Minnie, but both of them are great in Kingdom Hearts, imo. Goofy has always been middle-of-the-road for me; his shorts are the most boring things. I hate Daisy. Her screaming/nagging Donald in everything she's in makes her absolutely unbearable.

I couldn't fit all of the characters on the poll, but I always liked the character who would often appear in the older shorts--some chicken/hen character that I don't know the name of. Always preferred her to Horace or Clarabelle.

Of that list it's Ludwig Von Drake. Paul Frees was outstanding when it came to ad libbing and embellishing lines with further bits of comedy, which became even better when they were matched with the final drawing.

"An Adventure in Color", "A Symposium of Popular Songs" and his Disneyland record all highlight how funny and wonderfully entertaining he could be.

Clara Cluck, another forgotten member of the all-star players.

"Hockey Homicide", boring? :?

Personally, I have never been much of a fan of Disney's theatrical shorts (give me Warner or MGM any day), but Goofy's sports cartoons are among the few I could get behind. Give or take a couple of Donald shorts, but I've always much preferred Carl Barks' take on the character. Same with Floyd Gottfredson's run on Mickey.

I went for the main three because I'm boring and likely lack imagination. Mickey, Goofy and Donald. Too much Kingdom Hearts.

I love the Goofy Shorts the most. I watch that DVD far more than I should. The How to shorts are my absolute favourite. A lot of Goofy Shorts used to be complied into one long stretch that was available in the UK as Goofy All Star Olympics which was a childhood treasure. Gutted 'How To Ride A Horse' wasn't on the treasures DVD but managed to track it down on another Disney Sports DVD.

He isn't one of my favs but always preferred Ludwig Von Drake's narration of Mickey and the Beanstalk. Has it ever been put on DVD?
Settling Soul mates? That is grim. And I've played Monopoly alone.

I was gonna say, he never laughed at any of the "How To..." shorts, at all?! :?

Obviously I was going to vote for Chip 'n Dale...

Nope, not a fan.

The Disney Treasures line unfortunately began at a time when I was in middle school, so I couldn't really afford to buy things. Because of that, I didn't bother buying the later releases because I'd already missed the early ones. Either way, if I had the chance, the Goofy sets would be at the very bottom of my list.
