What's on your Fall DVD buying list?

Post by yoda_four »

Hey all!

This is the first of the seasonal DVD buying list's I will be posting in the Off-Topic area. Currently, my game plan is as follows: Spring - March 1st to May 31st, Summer - June 1st to August 31st, Fall - September 1st to November 30th, Winter - December 1st to February 28th/29th.

Feel free to post anything from potential buys, to most awaited, to rentals. Remember, you can also use the List option in BBCode to make things easier.

As it is August, and I can't wait to post this topic, feel free to add any of your purchases from this current month as well; even though I wouldn't classify it as Fall. So, get posting your purchases between the 1st of August to the 30th of November!

I think it's just the box set that won't have the OAR disc in it; I'm pretty sure you can buy the widescreen disc individually.

Why do you say the 14th? Amazon says the 21st. I hope you're right, that would make a great birthday present for me!

Not sure what I want to buy on DVD this fall. All I know is that I want Aladdin and Mulan on DVD. That's about it really.
Dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing.

I like this idea for seasonal threads, that way we aren't randomly making new wishlist threads all over the place.

August
Ella Enchanted
Jesus Christ Superstar: Special Edition
The Passion of the Christ (maybe. Like I said in the other DVD wishlist thread, I'm waiting for the SE which is rumored for either a December or April release, but if I find this for dirt cheap I'll get it)

September
The Star Wars Trilogy
Home on the Range

October
Aladdin: Platinum Edition
Hellboy: Directors' Cut
Mulan: Special Edition
The Stepford Wives (maybe. Need to see it first)

November
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Spider-Man 2
The Golden Girls: Season 1
Friends: Season 8
Gone with the Wind: Collector's Edition
Shrek 2

BTW, Yoda: Shrek 2 *is* OAR, just not in the "The Story So Far" giftset.

I was gonna buy the box set. But, I really don't think I would purchase a 1-disc Shrek 2 when I know it's gonna be re-released in a better version not too far down the line.

As for SW; woops my mistake. I'm not the best at typing...

Thanks Disneykid, though I know that wasn't exactly pointed directly at me. :)

And yes, I was going to buy the giftset before I found out it's only in fullscreen. Worst part to that is the second disc for Shrek 2 is included in that package!

Nice lists everyone! Keep 'em comin'! :)

Of course it was directed at you since you're the thread starter! :D As for the Shrek giftset, I don't think you're missing much. I read somewhere (DVDAnswers, I think?) that the 2nd Shrek 2 disc isn't a supplement disc but some sort of animated short thingy recapping what's been going on in the films (hence why the set is called "The Story So Far").

Well i'm too lazy to put them in strict date/order so i kinda grouped them in some sort of misterious way/related order. There's probably more than this but these are prime victims err... purchases

SNL: Best of Christopher Walken
The Redone Star Wars Trilogy
Star Trek Seasons
Tom and Jerry: Spotlight Collection Premiere Volume
Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection : Vol. 2
Aladdin Special Edition
Mulan Platinum Edition
The Three Musketeers
Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas
The Passion of the Christ SE
Jesus Christ Superstar SE
Gone With the Wind CE
Universal Monsters Legacy Set 2
The Thing SE
Ed Wood SE
Lost Boys 2 disc set

and maybe Van Helsing SE so I can edit the good parts to mix with Underworld's and League of Extraordinary Gentlemans' to make an extra Special VE
(Vampiress Edition :D)

I'll probably try to get as many of these as I can in PAL

(except SNL: Best of Christopher Walken which being on interlaced NTSC videotape is best on NTSC :P)
