All six Star Wars films coming to Vudu

In what was first thought to be an April Fools’ Day prank, Yakface.com has confirmed that all six Star Wars movies will be available via digital release through Vudu. Starting April 10, all you need do is visit Vudu.com, and Star Wars: Episodes 1-6 will be there, at the mercy of your mouse-click or fingertips.

Why wouldn't the Fox logo be there? Of the over 350 titles I have on Vudu not one of them is missing the studio it came from logo. I hope the price is reasonable. I just got all six Fast and Furious movies for $29.99.

I love Vudu, and so does my insurance man. Because I am slowly loading my movies to the cloud, he says that my insurance policy premiums will keep going down. The company thought is if the physical product gets destroyed in a fire or with a tornado strike, I still have all my movies in the cloud at Vudu/UltraViolet!!!

EDIT: Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the others (their trailers begin with the Lucasfilm logo only and my point stands again).

UPDATE 4/11: Great news!!! A Facebook user confirmed that the Fox logo and fanfare are intact on all the films!!!

$88.99 for all six films is a true bargain. Even better if you already own the 9-Disc set on Blu-ray. Will not spend my money at this time and will just wait and see what else they will put on sale in the future.

I would like Vudu to do with the Star Wars saga like they did with the "Fast & Furious Saga"! The released all six of the films like it was an 18-chapter serial and put them in chronological order - 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 3!!! And they did this for only $29.99!!

Notice that Episode 4: A New Hope is NOT available on Disney Movies Anywhere. I guess Fox (who owns sole distribution rights still to Ep 4) doesn't want to play well with Disney on this. So you can only have 5 of the 6 films in your collection via DMA....at least until 2020 when the rights revert back to Lucasfilm/Disney.

Why would you use Disney Movies Anywhere?? They are not part of this promotion. It is Vudu, not Disney that is offering this deal which ended yesterday. All six films are available and are in true High Definition not some re-do the DMA sometimes offers.

Vudu is free to join, and you get five free movies when you do, so you get your collection started right away with no money coming out of pocket.

Talk to your insurance man about saving money on the Household Insurance Plan when you use any of those special offers the clouds. Netflix, AmazonPrime, and Vudu, just to name three. If you have a major disaster in your home or town, you can never lose your movies that you have stored in your cloud.

I, personally, take a bunch of movies to Wally World each week, and have them put on my cloud for just $2 each (if you want to have them upgraded to High Definition it cost $5, unless you are using Blu-rays to add to your collection then it is still just $2 a title. I have added over 400 titles to my collection and it is pretty nice to be able to go to Vudu and just pick a movie to watch whenever I want.

No one orders anything from Disney Movies Anywhere. If you try to buy from DMA, it redirects you to choose from iTunes, VUDU or Google Play. (I got your same deal on iTunes today). DMA just gives you a platform on which to watch movies you already own through one of these providers.

In terms of why someone would use DMA, I find it has a faster download and uses less space on my iPad. Watching movies on my iPad isn't my preferred medium, but it is helpful when traveling for work (an absolute godsend on my recent business trip from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv)

For me, the biggest perk of DMA is the exclusives you can't get elsewhere such as when they showcased Party Central or Pixie Hollow Bake Off (both of which my kids loved).

Also, dvdjunkie, did you know that if you synch DMA to iTunes, GooglePlay and VUDU that when you acquire a Disney movie in any one of these platforms that DMA automatically adds it to the other two for free? For example, when I bought the SW films today through iTunes, DMA automatically added them to my VUDU and GooglePlay accounts. Not that I use VUDU much. I find its interface to be the clunkiest.

I still don't understand why people insist on watching movies on 2", 5" or bigger screens that they carry around with them. Only very few movies are good seen this way. As for me, I don't know what you mean by clunky-loading, and why you don't like Vudu. I have never had any problems with Vudu on my 60" HDTV and I refuse to buy any "toy" just so I can watch them on a bus or at table in a restaurant where I am eating dinner.

I know it is mostly because I am among the oldest ones who post on these forums, and the fact that when I was a youngster, I couldn't wait to get home from school to get my chores done and then sit down in front of the radio and listen to my favorite radio shows like The Lone Ranger, Bobby Benson and the B-Bar-B Riders.

I don't have a 'smart' phone, I just have a basic cell phone and besides that screen is barely 2" diagonally and any thing I would watch on it would be very compressed. Widescreen movies that are reduced down so you can watch them on such a small screen are just a waste of time and money to me.

I am aware when I buy Disney movies on iTunes or Vudu, I get my Disney Reward points just as if I bought the physical product. Disney is still one of the highest prices distributors of movies. I refuse to pay $24.99 or more for any physical copy of a Blu-ray title that I want when I can get the same product for $14.99 or less on Vudu. Also the fact that I can get most movies up to 10 days before they are released to the public is another factor that draws me to Vudu.

The same reason anyone uses it. As RyGuy said, It syncs your Disney movies on iTunes, Vudu and GooglePlay. I was sharing the information for any other Disney fans who do use DMA, that when they buy the Stars Wars movies, they will be able to sync all but one of the movies to their different accounts through the program. A lot of people here use DMA and so it's worth mentioning. It obviously doesn't apply to you since you only use Vudu, The fact that you don't understand others viewing behaviors or not, doesn't really matter or have anything to do with why I shared the info.

I've had to fly a fair amount for work lately. I'm going out on a limb here that fellow passengers might object if I were to bring a 60" HDTV with me to watch movies on the plane? I could try it out and get back to you?

All kidding aside, watching movies at home on a HDTV would be my preference as well. But when you have to travel, it's nice to have the option of movies to watch, even if you have to do so on a screen that is less than 10 inches. My return flight from Tel Aviv to Los Angeles took more than 17 hours and watching movies helped me combat the cabin fever of being cooped up for so long.

(While VUDU works well on my TV, on my devices the VUDU app is not one of the better apps, in my experience)

Okay, here is a question that will make me really look dumb, but I have to ask.

What are you and others talking about when you talk about an App? Or is this a mis-spelling of "Ad"???

Technology passed me by many moons ago. Is this something that only works are certain devices and is it free? What do I have to have to take advantage of this?

Though I don't travel that much, it would be nice to have something like that when I am waiting to see the doctor, or waiting for something else. How does it work, and do you need a special phone or other device to get it?

App is short for application and it's essentially how something works on a smart phone or tablet. For example if you use Yahoo mail, you'd access your email through the Yahoo Mail app rather than logging into Yahoo through your browser. You technically can do it that way as well but it's more efficient to do so through the app.

In general, apps are pretty small so you can have lots of them on your device. And there seems to be an app for nearly everything you might do online - Mail, Netflix, the weather, your bank, Facebook, TV channels, etc.

Apps are mostly free (though some cost a few bucks) but you need a smart phone or tablet or MP3 player to use them.

Hidden in a deep dark cave somewhere on the Lucas Ranch. He hated that television program and avoids any questions about it. I am just happy that I have a SLP version of it on a burned DVD-R. The HOLIDAY SPECIAL will probably never see the light of day if George has his way.

I talked to Disney Customer Service regarding my dilemma about the Fox logo and fanfare omitted from the 5 of the 6 films and that they understood! My complaint will be going to the marketing department, so all is well!

I guess I'm in the minority in that the lack of the 20th Century Fox logo/fanfare doesn't bother me. It's not like it changes the story or anything.

In my book, it up there with they took out the Old Mill diorama and replaced it with Arendelle on the Disneyland Storybookland Canal boat ride.
