I have never been to the tour (hence I've never been to Disney World - yet!) but a good friend of mine said that, when he went to the tour in 1997, they showed this montage of clips from Disney's animated features and he was able to see some footage from "The Black Cauldron" for the first time since he watched the film in theaters in 1985. He is a great fan of the film so I maybe you just don't remember "Cauldron" being there?

By the way, the so-called animator that used to answer to questions in the tour is no animator at all - he is just a draughtsman! Of course, they don't want the people to know it, heehhe!

I was paying close attention to catch if they would at least include it. If it was there, it was probably a very short flash and most would miss it. Or maybe I dropped my park guide and it was shown when I was picking it up. Or maybe I sneezed and I missed it (random thought...can one sneeze with their eyes open?). Lol, I just know I didn't see anything about Black Cauldron. One possibility is that they had redone the film (we saw it in 2003 whereas your friend saw it in 1997) to include the more recent films (especially since Mulan, Lilo and Stitch, and Brother Bear were animated there) and they forgot to reinclude Black Cauldron or just cut it to make room for new stuff.

Aaron, is the little gallery of concept art and character models still there? For me, it was the highlight of the tour (I'm a sucker for concept art. It was my favorite bonus round (Before & After) on D-Show!). It would be a shame if they closed that too.

No, you can't. It's impossible. Crazy, huh?

Nope, sure isn't. The tour consists of: (A)Pre-show hosted by Mulan and a teenage "animator," (B)Discussion room w/ the host... by discussion, I mean brief waste of time, (C)A walk down the hallway that consists of nothing but boarded up/blacked out windows (and a few left open so you can see the empty room), (D)The optional "draw a character" workshop, which I skipped, and (E)a giftshop at the end- the best part of the tour, it's an awesome store! You can get to it without taking the tour, though.

OMG, that sucks! I feel sorry for the people who have nevfer seen the full tour before. It really was a great attraction, keyword "was." Yes, I love that store too! That's where I got a cool postcard with the MIckey and Walt Triple Self portrait (I have it framed :) ). I also got a great poster with the park castles, Spaceship Earth, Earful tower, Miss Tilly, and Walt , Mickey, and DIsney characters. It hangs over my bed :) . ANyhow, we'll probably skip this "tour" or go anyway to see how bad it is. Lol, would it be too cruel to pretend to be amazed by everything? lol!

p.s. I think they took the Mushu film from the animation attraction at Disney CA Adventure. I never saw it, but guidebooks say it is a Mushu hosted film.

My grandmother and I did stick around after the tour, though, to ask the guide what the plans were with the tour, since so much of it was obviously no longer operable. He said the next year or two were schedule to bring big changes and entirely re-thought concept to serve as the basis for the same type of attraction. He said he doubted it would have anything to do with actual animation, though. I guess we'll wait and see.
