Re: The Black Cauldron - Uncut Blu-Ray Petition
I recall a time reading on a Land Before Time forum I used to frequent that there were quite a bit of scenes that were cut out from the Land Before Time as well. Same thing: Too scary for kids; all that fun stuff. I think there was around 19-minutes that was cut from the film altogether?DC Fan wrote: What I don´t get is that Pinocchio was a very dark movie. The same goes for scenes from Snow White, Fantasia, Bambi... Not to mention that 80´s movies were dark as well (The Secret of N.I.M.H., The Land Before Time...) . So why, don´t include all those deleted scenes? More so when at this point the movie is targeted at adults/´collectors.
Anyhoo, as far as The Black Cauldron goes, while I'd love to see a re-release featuring these deleted scenes restored to the film - I'd especially love to have it on DVD - how can we be certain Disney'll go through with it, even if the petition reaches it's mark?
I'm well aware that the movie has it's fare share of fans - I myself among them. But I've been told time-and-time again, there aren't enough people that care for the movie.
So between them re-releasing a movie that hardly anyone cares about, versus, say, investment in a sequel following their most-recent gold-mine, Frozen; is it even likely that they'll even re-release the movie, when there are so many other things that they'll most likely do instead?
Like, don't get me wrong: I love the movie. And I'd love to see the movie get a re-release - even if these aforementioned deleted scenes were in a special features section on the movie. And call me crazy, but I find The Black Cauldron to be a better movie than Frozen. But as I've said: I've been told, again and again, that there simply aren't enough people that care for the movie. So as much as I hate to say it, but I can't get my hopes up.

It wouldn't hurt to at least try.But I've been told time-and-time again, there aren't enough people that care for the movie.
Re: The Black Cauldron - Uncut Blu-Ray Petition
Hope we DO get it.
Since, by all means, this will be the last time we´d be getting the movie on physical format.

Did you sign my petition yet?
Re: The Black Cauldron - Uncut Blu-Ray Petition
Maybe the fact that last time we were very close to getting it as Disney themselves advertised it as such:Kraken Guard wrote:I recall a time reading on a Land Before Time forum I used to frequent that there were quite a bit of scenes that were cut out from the Land Before Time as well. So, they have the deleted scenes and more importantly they have them there to place on the DVD/BD. It´s not like before that people knew but nothing else.
BTW, since this movie I´ve been intrigued into reading the book series. Someone read them that can tell if they´re worth it?

You forget the 80s had other darker stuff in animation like Heavy Metal, Fire and Ice, Transformers the movie, The Plague Dogs, Lightyears aka Gandahar, Rock and Rule, Wicked City, Akira, Urotsukidoji Legend of the Overfiend, Golgo 13 The Professional etc.DC Fan wrote:Hardbackyoyo wrote:I think he's referring to the alternate version of the Fair Folk scene on the 25th Annivesary DVD.
No. I saw the Army of the Dead scene and was amazing.

Yes i'll sign as we need the Director's Cut now that the original cut has been found, it worked for Nightbreed when it finally got it's Director's cut found rather than the Cabal Cut which used workprint VHS tapes with a DVD mixed in but from reel film and how Halloween 6 Producer's Cut finally got a BD release now that the original cut was restored and found. Do the same to BC.

Let's Not forget that Warner Bros., after much convincing by the fans, released Little Shop of Horrors (the 1986 musical film version) on Blu-ray with both the original theatrical cut and the intended version with the ending that matched the stage musical's ending.

Let's not forget that Little Shop Of Horrors is a beloved stage musical and film that received critical acclaim and launched the careers of the duo that revitalized Disney animation.DisneyJedi wrote:Let's Not forget that Warner Bros., after much convincing by the fans, released Little Shop of Horrors (the 1986 musical film version) on Blu-ray with both the original theatrical cut and the intended version with the ending that matched the stage musical's ending.
The Black Cauldron almost destroyed Disney animation.
I applaud the efforts here, but warn you all not to get your hopes up. Disney won't listen.

Well TBC is a cult movie you know and a cult film like that deserves to be seen in it's original intention, i would make Disney do it.
Princess Mononoke was released on BD recently uncut and all from Disney and it was an adult animated movie that they released.

Please don't be so pessimistic.Disney won't listen.
Re: The Black Cauldron - Uncut Blu-Ray Petition
Also we need to remember that it is not impossible. Disney already has the scenes...restored and were about to release them last time. It is just about them to finally do so.

Hey DC fan, seen those other dark 80s adult animated movies i mentioned even Watership Down?
Well do you agree if Disney can release Princess Mononoke on blu-ray which is an adult animated movie BTW then maybe do the same to Black Cauldron in it's DC?

It still sounds too good to be true... Like what PatrickvD said: The Black Cauldron almost destroyed the animated studio.
And between other things, I don't see how or why they'd give The Black Cauldron any thought. Yes, it has it's share of people that appreciate the movie, but between that versus Frozen, which do you think they're going to put more attention toward?

Fire and Ice: haven´t seen it but know of it.
Transformers the movie: saw it after one of the Transformers movies. Didn´t impress me but I know of the scene that shocked everyone.
The Plague Dogs : known of it recently. Won´t see it ever. That movie is just so heartbreaking.
Lightyears aka Gandahar,: don´t know it.
Rock and Rule: don´t know it.
Wicked City: seen it but not remember.
Akira: seen it, have it on DVD, don´t remember but know why it has adult themes.
Urotsukidoji: saw it (it´s based on a series and that´s no cartoon but hentai)
Legend of the Overfiend,: don´t know it.
Golgo 13 The Professional; haven´t seen it but know what it is about.
...add to those: Vampire Hunter D.
Other points:
-It doesn´t matter Disney has released Mononoke on BD (Uncut; didn´t know it existed). Disney releases these movies because they know people are aware there´s no way they´d related to the company. Plus it has the brand Miyazaki and released under Buena Vista.
-If Disney is THAT ashamed of Black Cauldron why even use "the" cauldron on the Disney Villains merchandise. Also, every once in a while the characters show up. What about the Horned King sculpture celebrating the Anniversary of the movie?
-Why even bothered get that close on releasing the deleted scenes?
However, I stand by my case. Either Disney gives us those scenes on the Blu Ray release or we won´t see them ever.
