RIP ROBIN WILLIAMS :(

I've only ever seen them once off really bad dubs from old TV recordings, will have to rent them. Must admit I don't really remember much about them, the shabby quality of the transfers really distracted my somewhat OCD brain.

It's hard to put into words exactly what this means to me. I can't even remember the last time a celebrity death has bothered me this much.

Whenever I tell people that my all-time favorite film is Aladdin, the typical response I receive is "No, seriously, what's your *real* favorite?" I've never understood this reaction. It's my own personal Citizen Kane, and one of my countless reasons for that is Robin Williams's endearing, innovative performance. And it's not just his role as Genie. I've had the pleasure of enjoying most of his films and even a few comedy albums. To think that someone whose body of work I admire so passionately would leave us so soon and so unexpectedly is truly heartbreaking.

I've got that "The Making Of Aladdin" book sitting on my desk, in which he is only referred to as "the actor signed on to play the Genie." I was hoping to get it autographed by as many members of the cast and crew as possible. This is one signature I'll never get.

very sad and shocked to hear this news. robin was one of my favourite actors... i adored him in patch adams and bicentennial man, and of course the irrepressible genie.

i sincerely hope he has found his peace, and those who loved him have all the support they need to work through this. would also be nice if the media would allow them to grieve in private and not shove cameras at them.

Been away for quite a long time now but I am deeply saddened to hear of his death and especially the reason why. Depression is a killer. Depression has no prejudice and I think Lena Dunham put it very well

A tragic reminder that the conversation about mental health CANNOT stop. Money, fame, artistic freedom- none of it is a barrier.

A sad day for Disney fans. Aladdin remains my favourite film of all time and Robin Williams is a big part of that. A huge personality with lots of laughs which makes this all the more shocking for me. I'm watching Aladdin now and feel very sad. My prayers are with his family and I do hope he found what he was looking for.

I have truly lost a dear friend and confidant. Robin and I competed in a stand-up comedy contest in San Francisco back in the 80's, which he won, naturally. We have been close friends for years.

I received my yearly "Happy Birthday" call from him, and a promise, that now has been broken, that he would be here in person for my 75th birthday celebration.

With all the awards he has won, and all the people he has touched in his career, I think that I will miss him most of all for his role as the voice of the Genie in "Aladdin".

Robin and I have had many years of laughter together, and when I read of this tragedy I felt like a piece of me died with him. He could make anyone laugh at any given time. His comedic talents were borderline genius, and he never failed to sell out a show when he toured.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and closest friends, and I will be there at his services, in tears, because I have lost a good friend.

The world seems a lot less funnier without Robin Williams in it.

He is a legend, the range of his talent and genius was incredible. I hope that he is at peace now and that his family and friends will eventually find their own solace in knowing that he brought entertainment and (often uncontrollable) laughter to millions of people. And will continue to do so for generations to come.

I'm sorry to hear about it. I've struggled with depression as well, both mild and hard depressions, so I know all about it.

As many know, my performance as Olaf in Frozen is inspired by the great Robin Williams. When I first met with the film's directors, I told them I wanted to create a character as free and as wonderfully surprising at every turn as the greatest Disney sidekick I had ever known: the Genie. Olaf will never remotely touch the tour de force that is Robin's Genie. Because there is only one Robin Williams. But the joy and laughter that my little snowman has brought to children is because of the man who has left this world far too early. A man who taught me to be free, to be childlike, and a man who taught me to get out of my own way as a performer. His gift was to take all of our pain away and to allow us to escape. If only we could have returned the favor.

As my best friend, Seth Gabel put it, I feel like we just lost our life coach. The one who always reminds us that regardless of the hardships we face, he will always be there to lift up our spirits. But, I like to think of him more like the clown. The one in the kingdom who entertains and lifts up the spirits of kings and paupers, knights and yeomen. The one who juggles, distracts, dazzles and mesmerizes at every turn. The one who brings us all together, despite our differences and holds court by virtue of the fact that he is not like any one of us, for he is unique and talented beyond the rest.
