Films that are similar to Disney's Haunted Mansion ride?
I know this a bit of an odd request. I was at Walt Disney World this past week and went on the Haunted Mansion three times. While I was on the ride I was thinking "I would love to watch some films that will give me the same look and feel of this". Unfortunately a lot of horror films, even of the Haunted House variety, doesn't have the same imagery, good film score, and vibe that the Haunted Mansion gives off. Anybody have any recommendations? I'm not limited by era either but the Haunted Mansion does seem to have a classic vibe to it.

The Haunted Mansion has always given me a bit of a William Castle vibe (that is, when I discovered who Castle was and saw some of his films- i've been on the rides many times beforehand
), who used to make cheap horror films with a campy sense of humor, along with some classic extra trinkets in their theatrical releases which you miss out on when you watch them at home. Some of his films are worth a look though, especially for Haunted Mansion fans- The House on Haunted Hill in particular fits that mode fairly well.
You may also want to consider The Haunting, The Uninvited, and The Innocents, more classic horror films with a haunted house theming that may be what you're looking for.

Thanks! I'll check those out.

The first movie that popped into my mind was The Corpse Bride, and although I wouldn't count it as a horror film (and it's not obscure at all, either), it is a gorgeous stop-motion movie with a gothic Haunted Mansion-esque setting and a beautiful and haunting score from Danny Elfman. Both it and The Haunted Mansion both have undead brides, which is where the main connection in my head initially came from, but the mood, design and animation (as well as how fun and tongue-in-cheek Corpse Bride is) definitely give me a huge Haunted Mansion vibe, the song "Remains of the Day" in particular. They just both have similar senses of humor, I guess.
Sure, I could probably pick most Tim Burton movies and compare them to the Haunted Mansion, but Corpse Bride fits the bill the most, almost eerily so.

Surprisingly that one never came to mind and I never see it either. I'm going to have to check this out. I'm not specifically looking for horror films just any film that fits and this looks like it does. It would be interesting to know what films/sources influenced those who made the ride.
