You know they only said its a possibility not its going to happen for sure. I think this is an overreaction to just a speculation besides interviews are not always a great indicator of the future. Things can change than what was originally stated.

Re: Frozen 2 (2018?)
John Lasseter and Iger are not like Walt at all, at least he tried to do risky stuff in his timeline. Lasseter and Iger are just playing it safe, so confused about what to do with their own property that they prefer go and buy franchises and they think with 5 Marvel films and new Star Wars that makes up for the lack of Disney activity.
And even then, the movies nowadays are pretty safe. We won't see anything risky in the animation field with something like Tangled or even Big Hero 6.
And sequels...Yeah no lol. It's funny seeing how the Pixar fanboys (the ones that think Pixar is free of criticism and think all their movies are masterpieces) react when we tell them their precious company is been doing downhill since Cars 2.

Re: Frozen 2 (2018?)
I don't think we'll see a new Walt Disney as he's a unique entity. Disney was somebody who didn't like staying stagnant and resting on his laurels, always trying to explore new territories. From animation, he moved to live-action filmmaking to producing documentaries, making television shows (a couple even hosted by himself), building theme parks, exploring new technological innovations both in and out of the entertainment industry and even wanting to operate his own city and community. Probably the only comparison you can make between John Lasseter and Walt Disney is their push towards new technological challenges (in Lasseter's case, computer animation) and making strong animated movies for everyone.

Re: Frozen 2 (2018?)
I'd rather they not make a sequel to any film, though Big Hero 6, just because of what it is, I think I'd like to see one, if the first is any good.

Re: Frozen 2 (2018?)
Well you know, I have nothing but respect for Walt Disney and what he started, but now I find that even a legend like him can be disagreed with on some areas (especially when some people like to frequently quote his line "Keep Moving Forward" as a way to justify throwing out hand-drawn animation). I'm actually kind of glad that the Eisner era of Disney decided to think for itself regarding sequels, cause I loved The Rescuers Down Under so much more than the original movie, and there were even some enjoyable sequels here and there in the direct-to-video realm. In the Blu-Ray review for Rescuers Down Under here, Walt was apparently quoted as saying "You can't top pigs with pigs", but I think that sequel actually proves that theory wrong.Atlantica wrote:Wasn't Walt's whole thing to not to do sequels, as he was always on the lookout to do something different and to, (shock horror), use creative people to come up with something new ?!
Disney wanting all their movies to be done in CGI is like the ultimate equivalent of "playing it safe". Princess and the Frog took a risk, and for that it's a Disney movie that I deeply admire.thedisneyspirit wrote:John Lasseter and Iger are not like Walt at all, at least he tried to do risky stuff in his timeline. Look. I don't post on here often at all, I browse this site daily (well I used to) as I love Disney animated features. Mate... Give it a rest. It's so damn tiring reading your posts on every single discussion thread. We get it. You hate Disney using CGI, and you love 2D Animation. Venting on a forum isn't going to help your cause, all you're doing is pissing people off now. Get out into the world, make those phone calls, write those letters, create your own 2D animation and pitch it to Disney. If you're serious about changing the way it is, then stop complaining and do it! Seriously you are probably the primary reason why i've stopped coming onto this site at all.2Disney4Ever wrote:Atlantica wrote: I'm sure you must be referring to me, right?

I can only do so much on my own. Voicing our own displeasure is what some of us tend to do when we feel powerless to control or change what goes on elsewhere and simply have to put up with the crummy decisions of other studios.Haddad28 wrote:If you're serious about changing the way it is, then stop complaining and do it!
Besides, it should be Disney's responsibility to fix things and not our own. We should not have to be told by people at Disney to do 2D animation ourselves to help save it only because they refuse to do it for us. If we lose 2D animation, then it's their fault if we lose 2D animation.
Re: Frozen 2 (2018?)
I use to be one of the 2D-Animation whine boys, but I'm toning it down, because it's not good for my health. Hand drawn is not dead, but possibly in a deep sleep, until like either a new CEO (Hopefully Tom Staggs) or director gave hand drawn animation a true love's kiss to wake up the medium. I know, it's silly thing to say, but you get what I mean.BK wrote:I'd rather they not make a sequel to any film, though Big Hero 6, just because of what it is, I think I'd like to see one, if the first is any good.

Re: Frozen 2 (2018?)
My opinion on sequels usually depends on the potential for material. A sequel that adequately distinguishes itself from the original. Frozen can maybe have a great sequel. WIR2 would have a lot of potential, as well.

OK 2Disney, why do you even keep saying this? You know you're not saying anything new and you know you're putting us out of nerves, so why do you insist? Is this an obsessive disorder you have, that you keep going on to the same crap time and time again? Because I can understand but I mean darn, obsess over something positive at least.

I just hope this does not turn out be a big disappointment, like "Grease 2", the only other musical sequel that I can think of, that had a theatrical release.

This Is What Frozen 2 Might Be Called
Is a Frozen sequel going to happen? Optimistic fans of the animated behemoth think so after Disney registered several domain names for an upcoming film that people have now started to think may eventually turn into the homepage for Frozen 2.
Disney fan site Stitch Kingdom were the first to spot this cyber revelation. According to the website, Disney registered several domain names on Thursday that seem to suggest they will release a film with the title, Strange Magic, and the leading theory is that it could possibly be a subtitle for a Frozen 2. But how have they reached this conclusion? Well, it turns out that there are actually two references to "strange magic" in the 2013 Walt Disney Animated feature. In the movie, both Grand Pabbie (voiced by Ciarán Hinds) and Duke of Weselton (voiced by Alan Tudyk) use the phrase. You can even see the latter doing so in this television spot for the most successful animated film in the history of motion pictures.
Of course both of these characters are referring to Princess Elsa’s ability to construct frozen objects with ice that fires out of her hands. So does this mean that Frozen 2, a.k.a. Frozen: Strange Magic, will arrive in cinemas in the very near future? It's hard to say - but there are plenty of other ways in which the Frozen brand is expanding. Not only is there a Frozen Fever short film in production that will be released in Spring 2015, but a Broadway musical is also currently in the works too.
Of course, there is also the quandary to consider regarding whether or not we actually need a Frozen 2. The first film was a joyous singular entity that wrapped itself up with aplomb. Surely there is no need to return to Arrendelle to see what Princess Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf are up to. But that isn’t the way that the movie business works. And the fact that Frozen went on to gross over $1.2billion around the world means that a sequel is now pretty much inevitable. It doesn’t matter if it wrecks the reputation of the original. All that matters is that Disney capitalizes on the success of the first film and makes as much money as possible. Frozen 2 could still turn out to be a triumph that enhances the first film and opens up the franchise to endless possibilities, though.
Of course we could just be incredibly wide of the mark. Who knows, maybe Disney are just planning to release a film called Strange Magic in the near future.

I really doubt Strange Magic is Frozen 2, but if it's Frozen 2....

Re: Frozen 2 (2018?)
Strange Magic sounds like some Disney channel 90s tv Movie. I highly doubt it's a sequel to Frozen. It sounds like a Disney channel movie for some reason. (I guess because "magic" has been overdone in D channel movies. Heck, the plot of a D channel movie does not exist without magic. At least in the 90s ones. The contemporary D channel movie plot are fueled with hormones, the Meg Griffin kind of hormones.) Yeah, I remember Jennifer Lee talking about doing something live-action. It could be this. It sounds like something in her league. More info? Should Strange Magic have it's own thread?

Re: Frozen 2 (2018?)
Just what I thought. It's a LUCASfilm project. Not exactly a cheesy 90 D channel movie, but something equally nostalgic.

Frozen sequel confirmed by Idina Menzel.
Source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/musi ... -Elsa.htmlFrozen has just been re-released theatrically, and the filmmakers have made a new six-minute short that will play in cinemas in the coming festive season. There are also rumours of a sequel and a stage musical. What can Menzel tell us of those plans?
“That they’re all in the works, ha ha!”
Is she signed up for them all?
“Ah, yeah sure… Not the stage show – I don’t know what will happen with that – but the movie hopefully. We’ll see. I’m just going along for the ride,” she says.

Re: Frozen 2
Frozen is in theaters again? Not surprised, but wish I'd known.
I'm glad things turned out so well for Elsa. I know there are a lot of people who want to have a great part in a Disney feature that will cement them in some small way for generations. I know Cyndi Lauper wished for that apparently (from that article about Hunchback from jimhillmedia) and I've always felt Whoopi Goldberg wished she could get a big villain role a la Ursula. I'm surprised they didn't get her for Mama Odie in The Princess and the Frog, actually.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to Frozen. The two things I'm hoping are that 1.) They don't re-visit Hans, at least not in a major storyline, and 2.) The film isn't focused on romance. I'm still liking the ideas of a magic villain and/or Anna with sun magic powers, although there are many other things they could do, too.
