^I was snickering at the jokes but at the same time kinda sad b/c that probably was the way it went in rl.
ok so I saw it this weekend and, yeah it was pretty generic as far a fantasy films go, but Im a sucker for this type of thing. So I left my brain at the door knowing this wasnt gonna be LOTR & mostly enjoyed it. Even though I thought the 3rd act really fell apart(what an awfully staged final fight scene,) also the dragon was wasted. Plus what was with the useless Balloon prince? Finally, catsuit, why?
at least Sharlto was badass & I loved Divial(yeah for corvids!)
So I saw my third viewing of this on father's day, and I noticed something that I didn't see the first two times. There's been complaining about the "cat suit", but I noticed this time when her cape is pulled off that you can see her wing stubs, thus allowing the wings to reattach themselves when they fly back to her. I mean I guess they could have gone with a different outfit, but it's at least an explanation for the sudden costume change.

When she's riding the horse to the castle you can already see the pants. I assume it's not easy to ride a horse wearing a gown

I agree with Mooky, I just don't find appealing these new "dark" fairy tales revisionist movies that are so popular now, and have this snooty attitude of "no, what you saw in Wizard of Oz/Sleeping Beauty/Snow White was wrong and evil, this is the TRUE story!" and turn the villains into some misunderstood souls who need forgiving while turning the original good guys into jerks.
Seeing how this movie was succesful, I'm already expecting something like Cruella: the Movie or No one loves like Gaston.. Disney will want us to sympathize with an animal killer and a douchebag/"nice guy".

No one loves like Gaston.
Or Judge Claude Frollo.
... I know the Vanellope fandom would be in a fit if they made a movie about King Candy/Turbo actually being the good guy wheres Vanellope was secretly evil all along.
arent they making a new Cruella movie? I can already see it now: Cruella wants to make dog coats at first but then realizes that killing innocent adorable puppies is WRONG! and tried to save them from the true villain, Roger. That Dalmatian Plantation he keeps singing about? Puppy mill.

We'll have a Dalmatian plantation~
Or how about this: Roger and Cruella were lovers, but when Anita married Roger, Cruella had her heart broken. Roger had the audacity to frame Cruella for some crime she didn't commit, and that's when she knew she had to hit him where it hurts: skin his dog's skin.
Or this: the dalmatians are actually aliens in disguise bent on conquering the Earth (somewhat tying into the actual book sequel, "The Starlight Barking") and can only be stopped by removing their coats and exposing them to moonlight. Now it's up to Cruella to stop the alien invaders with the help of her ex-boyfriend Roger and his dog Pongo (Anita and Perdita will be revealed as an alien conspirator/human aide).
Atlantica wrote:Now gone over $500 million world wide, with markets yet still to open ! Yay ! Its become the highest grossing movie of Angelina's career so far.
I'm so glad that it's doing amazingly in other countries.

That is the best one for a Cruella movie!
Disney, Pixar, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Cinema fan
I do wonder though, now that we've had Maleficent portrayed in this way, would they do a Cruella origin story gaining her sympathy ? Or just be the Glen Close - style baddie we all know and love ?
Maybe the real story was that she wasn´t trying to make a fur coat out of dalmatians puppies.
In reality she was a bounty hunter of animals protecting the lives of humans against savage beasts. Turns out that she was fighting a huge pack of pitbulls bent on human destruction. She, after so much suffering, placed and oath that after defeating them would somehow display them as trophies.
That was the true story. Then it happened that with the pass of years the story ended up changing as we know it: an evil woman that wanted to make a fur coat out of dalmatians puppies.
But honestly, if they wanna repent a villianess, the obvious choice would be Ursula. She wanted her brother King Triton to stop killing innocent sailors. He banished her because of this extreme hatred towards humans and her refusal to accept his rule. (Those polyps in her cavern? The lost souls of sailors.)
Anyway, when Ariel comes a-knocking, Ursula takes advantage of the situation and wants to show that humans aren't all bad. But thing is, Ursula falls in love with the handsome sea captain, Prince Eric. So Ursula decides to jump ship and pretend she's the maiden who saved him from one of Triton's monstrous storms.
ED: About Cruella, it's probably gonna be something about how as a little girl she used to love dogs but one day her father's dog bit her and since then she wants revenge. She falls in love with Roger but he "betrays" her by marrying later Anita. So Cruella gets revenge on the dogs but then saves them from Roger, who's like an evil executive in this version who makes clothes out of animal furs (Anita either dies off-screen or is Roger's abused wife and gets rescued by Cruella via a "Love's kiss/Woman's love" plot twist ala Maleficent and Frozen).
Heck I agree with the poster that said that Hitler's movie may be coming soon. Probably in the "true" story he was so innocent and it was his "evil" jewish father (because it's always DA MAN who's the villain in this story; the Wizard, King Stefan, executive!Roger...) who beat him and made him do all the atrocities. The true villains are his dad along Himmler and Mengele. So at the end he fights from putting the Jews in the camps and the last act is him running to the camps to save the Jews from the gas chambers and they all live happily ever after.
