Have you changed since joining this forum?

Post by Jules »

I wouldn't say I've changed much. I'm still (intentionally) silly, and love a good laugh. I still like making outlandish avatars, and I still think animation is the greatest thing ever. I'm probably still as naive as I was back then, especially when dealing with real life issues, and it's still very easy for strangers to take advantage of me. Yes. As easy as it was back in 2006, when I joined.

Still, my online persona does seem to have evolved somewhat. Take a look at the first post (and the first thread) I created on UD seven years ago. I come off as incredibly clueless about the powers of the internet (well ... I was still using a 56k modem back then :P ) and so easily impressed by the possibilities of an online forum it's embarrassing.

And, my writing style was all over the place. To this day I am still guilty of not properly proofreading my posts (hence the occassional but consistent grammatical errors and typos) but back then it seems like I changed tenses just for the fun of it. I wouldn't say my posts were incomprehensible, but they were vague, and confusing.

As weird as I must have seemed to most of you back then, you were all friendly towards me, and I love you all for that.

Yeah, about the link in your post? In all honesty, that's how I felt when I read more about The Black Cauldron!

As far as have I changed much? Maybe! I'm still a very extremely silly goof, and I still ship Maleficent and the Horned King. So nya. :P

I am still the same as I always was. I don't always have much to say unlike other members on this forum who can post paragraphs of responses.

I've changed in many ways

When I first joined this forum it was new and I had never constantly participated in a forum like this in 2005. One incentive was to join Secret Santa the year after but I gained so much more than I could never imagine at the time. I use to have a handful of friends who just liked me for my stuff, but since coming here, I have many friends that like me for just me.

True I have not met most of my friends on here or that were on here that I still talk to on facebook face to face but I feel connected to all of you, also Escapay, Pap64 and Disneykid have been great friends to me as well as many others. I consider many of you my best friends since right now i don't have any in person friends much. But it's the quality of friends that counts and not the quantity

This place has helped me mature into the better person that I am today. This place changed my life and pretty much for the good.

And I have Luke to thank for brining us all together and making a place where my friends are like Bonds Beyond Time

Well said DisneyBoy! I too have had the pleasure of learning to know special folk here, I count you among them😉it goes beyond saying that there are certain things that have changed for me over the years. The forum here has helped me express my opinion in many ways. It's a place where you can freely speak your mind and actually, most of the time😄, will find others to join in the conversation :p I'd like to express my thanks to all of you for joining me in conversation😊

I haven't particularly changed as a result of joining the forum, but being a teenager exposed to Richard Dawkins, pornography and (gasp!) social interactions - if only the three could one day be united as one - I have changed much: I've gone from a fascist to a socialist, a quasi-emo to something stranger, a unintelligent fool without recongising it to an unintelligent fool who does recognise it, and a nihilist to...something else, although I'm not quite sure. But, I digress.

The forum itself has certainly educated me in the ways of the Internet and online discussions. there was once a day where I strived to reply to every thread, until I discovered the horrific truth that it's quite frankly impossible, a bit dull and a waste of time overall; there was once a day when I apologised for replying to someone else's post a few hours later rather than immediately afterwards; and there was once a day when I regularly attempted to start a new topic at least twice a day. Now those days are gone, and so I'm less active here, but it still has a special place in my heart, right between my 7th favourite ice cream flavour and Brad Pitt in Troy.

Ten years is a long time. I'd say I'm less naïve, yet maybe less jaded. Definitely more blunt and secure. I was starving for some Disney-based conversations back in the day and was a wide-eyed kid at this place. :ears:

I've met some good people at UD. None in person yet, but who knows? Online friendships are just as important as RL ones; anyone who doubts that should ask me how I met my husband. :p However, I still rather enjoy the shield of anonymity offered from using a screen name as I did back in the day, it's just not the escape from reality it used to be.

I'm still the goofy, sarcastic, overly-polite nutcase that likes to draw Disney-esque girls, so I guess nothing's really changed. ;)

A lot thanks heavens, was going through a lot of stuff kind of delusional was my escape from a crappy reality. Thankfully the last 6 years things have improved radically and everyday it gets better.
