Here's an interesting piece of information. This came from a user named aenima500, who claims to work on TLM's 3D conversion.
"This article is false - Disney has not canceled LM3D, because I've been working on the conversion for the past several months and have not stopped, obviously they'd call us off by now if this were true. Disney is only changing the release date. This article is obviously slanted to bash 3D. No one HAS to pay 3D price either, if you don't like 3D, or don't want to pay the extra ticket price then don't. People still pay the extra $6 for IMAX movies as well. People complain there aren't enough jobs in this country on the other hand, what about those of us that do this for a living?"

Disney did cancel it, the release date was scrapped. Box Office Mojo always accurately updates schedule changes and when Disney announced release dates for Pirates 5, Muppets 2 etc, The Little Mermaid 3D was taken off the schedule.
And naturally, they're not going to cancel the conversion altogether. They're still going to do a full-on restoration and conversion for the Blu-ray release and if they change their minds and do go ahead with a re-release, they'll have it ready.

Exactly !!! Though yes, they've got the cover right....if it were us, what would WE do ? As I said before, I'd have a big feature on the parks and how much of a role Ariel has in them. Not a fluff promo price either, a real in depth look behind the scenes. And maybe a look at the Broadway show.PatrickvD wrote:The hilarious part of that is that they would probably even have higher sales figures.atlanticaunderthesea wrote:Can you imagine what would happen if one of the UD crew ran the Disney Home Release department .... ?! Excellence and magic would happen, that's what ...
I've been too busy today and yesterday to comment on all this excitement regarding Mermaid what I will say is the screen caps that someone over in the Bluray Forums posted from the trailer looks amazing, I really, really hope someone uploads the trailer to YouTube very soon because I am dying to see it regardless of whether it's be cancelled or not I still want to see the trailer!
I love The Little Mermaid and Ariel

OK guys, there's still some hope:
I just read this from blu-ray.com:

They haven't CANCELLED it, it's being rescheduled. Sources blew it WAY out of proportion. I can't post on the Huffington Post yet because they won't approve my comment but if you see this.. please spread this around.
The dates are CHANGING and they just haven't given a new one yet. How do I know this?
Because I'm WORKING on this project. Proves that you can't trust everything on the internet.

What are you talking about? It HAS been cancelled! I haven't found ANYTHING on Google talking about a reschedule!

If it was cancelled why have I been on this project still full steam.
You won't find anything on google talking about a reschedule because Disney doesn't have a date yet. The movie is nearly complete, we're about 80% complete. The Disney Execs even called us to let us know that this info was misinterpreted.

If that's true, the 3D movie is nearly complete!
