Can you please elaborate more on the alternate opening? What's it about?

Thank you! :)

Wonderlicious wrote:Did you by chance read this series on fairy tales, and moreover this article on Cinderella? I will say that the author's general assessments in those articles are okay, especially considering how wide the intended readership is. However, I'm also under the impression that the author doesn't have a particularly great knowledge of French, at least with regards to idiomatic phrases. He seems to have translated "laisser tomber" quite literally as "to let fall" ("laisser" means "to let/leave", "tomber" means to "to fall"), which is incorrect. Having studied French at university level, and moreover having lived in France for extended periods of time, I can safely say that "laisser tomber" does actually mean "to [accidentally] drop".
Just to be sure, you have read the original story in its original French and we can confirm Cinderella did leave her slipper accidentally in the original Perrault tale?

Wouldn't that be an interesting twist if Cinderella left her slipper there for the prince to find? I think that's pretty smart!

What I loved most about this classics is the atmosphere in the picture that is created by the lighting. The created source of light in the picture. For example, the stills where Cinderella runs down the stairs towards the pumpkin carriage. In the first one, there is a warm glow coming out of the palace. The new one is just very cold, and there is no lighting, atmosphere whatsoever. Cold, flat and empty. It basically sucks all the life out of the image. They erased the animated sources of light.

I remember the Pinocchio screencaps from a while ago. Colors aside, it does not seem there is actual light coming from the candle. If you put your hand over the left side of the picture, you would never know there is a source of light.
actually, you can tell because of the direction the light is hitting him, especially his cap.

Does anyone have screencaps from the blu ray/comparisons?

If it's the same transfer as the 2005 version I know I don't have to buy it.

Last night I dreamt that I complained to someone high up at Disney regarding Cinderella and had the U.S. discs recalled.

I was trying to find Duster to share the good news.

Then I woke up. :x

And also thank you so much Disney Duster for pointing out all those cool 'hidden' things in the film....I had no idea she starts to take down her hair in the pumpkin !

Well atlantica now that I think about it, it might have just been her catching her hair as it fell down as she was being transformed back, as carolinakid said.

What a cool dream Jules, too bad it was only a dream...but maybe it can come true? I just gotta spread the word!

Ah ok, that could be it as well, didn't see that comment! Even if it is just that, it is a very human action; I like that aspect of her character.

Do we know yet if the blu-ray has The Little Mermaid trailer in it? I guess that would confirm whether we're getting it next year or not, right?

Just wondering, which countries blu-rays have previews, outside of NA releases?

On the UK release, it was not present. I don't think Peter Pan was either!?

Is there any music video from the 2005 Platinum release in this blu-ray?

Disney is now so cheap I bet that they didn't even bother making a music video.

I finally saw the commercial and did anyone notice they say "available in Blu-ray and digital"? I didn't take this streaming thing seriously but I guess they will push that more.

I've been seeing commercials like once or twice a day, so that's good! That means if I'm seeing them, others might be too!

Wait... Does that honestly surprise you? They've been planning this digital push for years now. Advertising "bluray and digital" is only the very beginning.

It doesn't surprise me. I just didn't pay too much attention to it.

Do you guys think there's any chance (in hell) that we'll get a coupon? Maybe they'll be for Diamond Editions? I mean we got one for the 24th Chihuahua movie..
