I agreed with most except Cinderella and the fact she thinks Phillip was lying and that it isn't the 14th century. Ironically enough the outfit she made for Aurora was a 14th century royal outfit.

With Cinderella, Despite the stepmother's very Victorian outfit, the rest of the place is very 1700's. Specifically late 1700's/early 1800's Belgium/Netherlands/France area.

Ariel's is hard pinpoint but i would say somewhere in 1800 too.

These are absolutely gorgeous!

I believe Cinderella, Ariel, and Jasmine are my favorites.

Belle's dress reminds me a lot of the dress I saw on a girl in a recording of a stage adapation of the play, The Rivals, for the Lydia Languish character.

There was actually a thread for this just a week or so ago (http://www.dvdizzy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29337).

I still like Ariel, Jasmine, and Cinderella the best. The Rapunzel and Belle ones have grown on me as well. Tiana's is perfect, I've just never been into the '20s. My mother loved the Aurora one.

I think the only one I don't like is the Pocahontas one. I wish she'd given her pants (like I would have thought most Native Americans would have worn).

Actually, a historically accurate Powhatan woman would not have worn pants...or a top. Just a deerskin apron

Pocahontas herself, being "royalty", MIGHT have worn a one shouldered deerskin dress for certain occasions, making Disney's outfit more historically accurate than the one this artist came up with. The Algonquin tribes were less keen on pants than midwestern Native Americans...at least during 1607

I think "Cinderella" takes place in a tiny French speaking kingdom right in the France-Germany border. Although the architecture looks like late 17th Century, I think the story takes place in the 1800s based on the costumes. Also, check out the live action reference pictures. The costumes look 19th Century to me. Plus, the males in the film are wearing military uniforms with epaulettes, top hats, etc, clothing that were prominent during the time period.

As for The Little Mermaid, I think it takes place in a tiny principality near the Mediterranean in the 1800s. Eric's castle seem to employ an international staff (British caretaker, Italian maid, French chef).

I believe s/he's had Megara up for a while.

I wonder if this person will do Esmeralda or Jane--less popular/interesting characters, but I wouldn't mind seeing them. Maybe even Alice? They're probably done though, considering all the major ones have been covered.

I hope they do a few more. Esmerelda is pretty popular despite not being in the line, like Meg. I would also love to see Jane and Alice. Hopefully she at least does these 3

Aurora is my favorite one to she looks gorgeous

Just like Super Aurora said, I believe Cinderella is actually more in the 1700's style of clothes and hair, possibly even very late 1600's (when Perrault wrote Cinderella) since a lot of that kind of fashion started then.

Cinderella's pink gown and even her hair looks kind of like this 1700's fashion plate:

The sleeves in this first picture kind of look like Cinderella's, as do the hair and width of the gown of the girl in the second look like Cinderella's, and they're both from the 1700's:

The hair and choker necklace of the girl in this late 1700's painting look a lot like Cinderella's:

And I think this woman really looks like Cinderella, during the 1700's which was the reign of XV, and one of the Disney background artists said they made the architecture in the film look like from that of Louis XIV:

There are also some pictures from the late 1600's to the 1700's that look a lot like Lady Tremaine's fashions:

But I have to admit, this next picture from the middle of the 1800's looks so much like Cinderella (in red) and Lady Tremaine (in purple):

And then there's the Prince, who I must admit, like all the other men, looks like he's wearing clothes from the 1800's. He especially looks like this Prince of Austria, the picture's from somewhere in the 1840's to 1850's:

But the men sometimes have the knickers, jackets, wigs and tricorner hats that are very much from the 1700's or late 1600's. Usually the men of high status but who are servants to people in higher status, like Cinderella's dog Bruno made her footmen and the Duke's slipper fitter:

So I think the film could be set anywhere from the very late 1600's to the 1700's to the 1800's, just with costumes that look like ones from any of those eras, and I'd like to think it's the late 1600's when Perrault originally wrote his tale, but some people think any clothes past that date must mean its set later. I disagree, but you can think for yourself. I'd like to think they just *happened* to make clothes that just *happened* to uncannily look like in some ways like clothes from the future. They were ahead of their time! lol

I was just reminded of another picture from history that looks like Cinderella's pink gown. Marie Antoinette wore one (in silver, like Cinderella's other ballgown!) in two paintings:

Now that's from the middle of the 1700's, so once again that is a possible intention of where Disney's film is supposed to be set. Or maybe it's considered an old fashion from Cinderella's old fashion book in what is the middle of the 1800's. But the mice were bringing the gown "up to date" so they wouldn't make the dress look older than the time period, or maybe they still would not be all the way up to date?

I just randomly thought of these again and checked to see if maybe s/he had done pictures for Elsa or at least Anna (since Elsa's clothes seem less historically-derived?), but no. S/he did do Maleficent at some point though. It'd be cool if s/he eventually does the Queen, Stepmother, Yzma, Gothel, and maybe even the Queen of Hearts?
