RIP Robert Sherman
Robert Sherman, one half of the Sherman Brothers, has passed away.
The reasons of his death are not yet known, but the Disney Company has acknowledged his death.
Rest in Peace, Robert Sherman. He, along with his brother, taught us that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, to look for the bare necessities and that it is indeed a small world.

What I loved about the Sherman Bros. music was that they were all very upbeat, bouncy and very optimistic. "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow", "The Bare Necessities", "A spoonful of sugar", "Step in Time", "Heffalumps and Woozles" and many more were very lively in their execution.
Much like Alan Menken and Howard Ashman gave Disney a musical identity in the 80s and 90s, the Sherman Bros. made Disney stand out in the 60s, especially in the theme parks. Hell, I even dare say that without the Sherman Bros. the parks wouldn't have the identity they have today.

One more piece of the "Walt-era" has left us. RIP Mr. Sherman.

The elder half of The Sherman Brothers died peacefully in London last night, according to his son Jeff.
He wrote on Facebook today: 'My Dad, Robert B. Sherman, passed away tonight in London. He went peacefully after months of truly valiantly fending off death. He loved life and his dear heart finally slowed to a stop when he could fight no more.'

WOW, that is sad, he had a good life, and he will be missed dearly. I imagine a lot of people (except on this forum and other Disney Fans) probably don't realize how many movies with music (not just Disney) those 2 did. My Prayers are with his family, especially for his brother, Richard Sherman.

This is terrible news. Bob and Richard's music (along with Alan Menken's) was the music of my childhood. He will definitely be missed; rest in peace, Robert.

RIP Robert.
Thank you for giving us some of the most wonderful music in films, television, and theme parks.
Ironically, even though I really love their scores for Bedknobs and Poppins, I think two of my favorite scores of the Shermans are from non Disney films - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Slipper And The Rose, as well as the song "Fundamental Friend Dependability" from Snoopy Come Home. Chitty just has an inate bouncy fun to the music that I love, particularly songs like "Chu-Chi Face." And The Slipper And The Rose has some of the prettiest and most elegant melodies I think they've written, not to mention some of their wittiest lyrics like "What A Comforting Thing To Know," "Protocoligorically Correct," and "What Does Love Have To Do With Getting Married?"
Even though he may be gone, the music and lyrics of him and his brother will continue to live through multiple legacies.

He gave us so much. The soundtrack of our lives.
Listening to "The River Song" right now from "Tom Sawyer". Such a gorgeous and touching song. We'll always love and treasure your art, Mr. Sherman.

"She sailed out of the Disney-blue heavens, umbrella in hand, and promptly elicited every gorgeous adjective in the book from reviewers coast to coast."
