Well, the Diamond/Platinum line-up hasn't really changed since 2003 (aside from having a few titles omitted and some titles switching dates). In addition, despite the original promise of the Platinum line being the only films dragged in and out of the vaults, numerous other films have gone back in and out. I would personally like Tangled to get a good re-release edition, but sadly part of me imagines it'll be left continuously on sale as with most recent Disney films, even those that are successful.DisneyDude2010 wrote:Do you guys think that the short will be released with the dvd/blu ray in future diamond/platinum addition?

Well, fine, then because Floyd Norman worked with Walt Disney, Floyd at least would know a little more what Walt would want, and it is at least possible he truly knew he would want the title Rapunzel. He would not fight for the title to be kept as Rapunzel if he didn't feel that it was Walt would approve, though, anyone can see he wouldn't do something he felt would be against what Walt would want, but rather for what Walt would want.

How is saying: "The idea of changing the title of a classic like Rapunzel to Tangled is beyond stupid. I'm convinced they'll gain nothing from this except the public seeing Disney as desperately trying to find an audience" fighting for the title. Where is your evidence that Floyd Norman fought against the title change because "that's what Walt would want"? Just because he didn't like the title change does not automatically mean that is because he knows what a man who's been dead for nearly half a century would think; he's just expressing his opinion. By all means, if you have evidence that that is the case, that Floyd Norman said this because he knows what Walt would think, I'd be happy to agree with you.DisneyDuster wrote:He would not fight for the title to be kept as Rapunzel if he didn't feel that it was Walt would approve

I mean what I said. Floyd Norman, who worked for Walt, would not fight for the title to be that way, if he didn't think Walt would approve, because he would never fight for the title be a certain way that he thought would go against what Walt would approve. If you think Floyd Norman actually hates Walt Disney and wanted to do something against what he thought Walt would want, you must provide a reason, because eveything we know about Floyd Norman shows us he would be for, not against, what Walt would want.

a) Where did I say Floyd Norman hated Walt Disney?DisneyDuster wrote:If you think Floyd Norman actually hates Walt Disney and wanted to do something against what he thought Walt would want, you must provide a reason, because eveything we know about Floyd Norman shows us he would be for, not against, what Walt would want.
b) He didn't FIGHT for the name change. He went on his blog, said he thought it a desperate attempt by Disney to attract a larger audience, drew a cartoon lampooning the name change and that was it. There was no campaign, no other bold statement, he simply said what he thought.
"Brave" is what Pixar is beginning to lack. Fear of failure, perhaps. Get over it. Walt Disney failed lots of time."
That's arecent Tweet from Floyd, as honest and outspoken as he always has been and he does not look at Disney, the company and the man himself, through rose-tinted glasses. Interestingly, Floyd also now does quite a bit of work for Pixar, the studio that you're so sure Walt would have hated, and according to his Twitter he is currently working on Monsters University.

Yo, I never said I was sure Walt would hate it. I said it was doubtful he would have LOVED it as one person said.
And Floyd Norman did not only make one cartoon. He drew many cartoons, plus his quote in the New York Times article, to try and get Disney to change it. That's a lot more than you said, and that could have been the only things he could have done to fight to get the name change.

“The idea of changing the title of a classic like ‘Rapunzel’ to ‘Tangled’ is beyond stupid, I’m still hoping that Disney will eventually regain their sanity and return the title of their movie to what it should be. I’m convinced they’ll gain nothing from this except the public seeing Disney as desperately trying to find an audience.”
That's the full quote from the Los Angeles Times article. He says that he hopes that it will be changed back, like a lot of people on this forum did, but he doesn't demand it, he doesn't say to do it because "that's what Walt would want". You said Floyd fought for the title change to be reversed because he knew Walt and therefore knew that Walt would want it to be called Rapunzel; I'm just saying that I can't find anything that proves that, if you do I will hold my hands up and admit that I am wrong and that you are right. I'm not denying he wasn't happy with the change but I don't think he fought it. Perhaps he said something to management at Disney but if he did, he never said so in his blog or on his Twitter.

Try to stop getting me wrong. I adjusted my argument. Everyone here will agree that Floyd Norman would NOT do something that was AGAINST what Walt would want, he would only do something that was FOR what Walt would want. I will not say he knew what Walt would want, but it is certainly more likely that he would know than someone who didn't work for him, like the makers of Tangled. That is all. No fault can be found in this.
I don't like the sleeves on her dress but of course it's another excellently done enigmawing piece.

Why would you think Floyd has his head in the past? How do you even know what he's thinking aside from not liking the title? His quote had nothing to do with Walt. All of your argument is pure guesswork aside from you saying he worked with Walt. You're just assuming what he thinks and his own motives for saying the things he did.Disney Duster wrote:Try to stop getting me wrong. I adjusted my argument. *sigh* If you don't think Floyd would be AGAINST what Walt would want, the only logical conclusion is he would be FOR what Walt would want.
He knew Walt. He would not fight for the title (and I will call it fighting for the title whether anyone agrees or not) if he did not think Walt would approve. For Walt's company, he would not do just whatever he wants and not what Walt wants, because that would not be the logical doings of a man who worked for Walt.
All of you need to explain to me why he would not do it thinking Walt would approve if you don't think he would. Because Floyd Norman is quite obviously someone who would not do something against what Walt would approve.

Thanks guys, I'm not quite done with it. As for the sleeves, I'm just basing this on the original dress design and the pretty concept art generously posted by DisneyDude on the previous page.
I'm actually going to give credit to Disney this time for not being stupid . . . I think even the most passive of audiences will go WTF if she gets her long blonde hair back for the wedding.

I think I would reeaally miss her super long hair to be honest. Since it's totally part of her character.
I know that's the whole point of the film that her hair is the magical force that gets her through the movie but it's also how people identify her.
It's like Ariel with legs or the Beast as a human or, Tarzan with... clothes, lol. (I guess you can accept Ariel with legs a little more though.)
What I mean is I don't know if it's a good idea or not to keep her hair short for the short. But then again I'm not quite sure how a girl would go about growing back 50 feet of golden hair, lol.

But how do you even know any of that? You act like it's "this or that" and there is no in between. So because he doesn't hate Walt he has to think just like him? Almost 50 years ago, Walt died. Shortly after, the company changed and will continue to change until its demise. Personally, I have my own ideas about life, film, art and everything else just like Floyd would and just as you do. To even suggest that he would be holding on to the dream of another man for over four decades is ridiculous.Disney Duster wrote:*sigh* If you don't think Floyd would be AGAINST what Walt would want, the only logical conclusion is he would be FOR what Walt would want.

Yes that's what i don't understand either, she would look much better if she was facing the front like the others aswellNeal wrote:What is it about the Tangled marketing that includes Paschal with Rapunzel? enigmawing- That picture is absolutely stunning! you are an excellent drawer
