"A Moment Like This" will be perfect for the addition song to "The Little Mermaid"
Or maybe some one like Jessica Simpson or Mandy Moore could top the spot to sing for the new "The Little Mermaid" song.
Who do you think should sing the new song? :)
Funny you should say something like that Jessica simpson sang Part of Your World on Disney Mania's first CD. Does anyone think she will be included on the DVD as a bonus feature music video? (Anyway just a thought)

I for one am looking foward to the new song and animation that is going to be added to the Little Mermaid. And I mean why not it is one of my favorite Disney movies that always left me asking for more.I lovesd Human again in Beauty and the Beast And yes I like the orginal theatrical version and I hope that just like the other DVD they give the viwer the option. Which brings me to my next question if both these DVDs the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast give everyone the option on what to watch wethere the ME or Theatrical realese why would you watch the new version if you know you are going to hate it avoid yourself the trouble and just watch the one you want and move on its not worth getting upset. But hey thats just my opinion I am not trying to make anyone upset. :)

Well I did heard Jessica Simpson sing Part of Your World.
She sang it ok, but Kelly Clarkson is way better then Jessica Simpson.
Jessica Simpons sang "Take My Breath Away" and she killed it with her own remake. I like the way Berlin sings "Take My Breath Away".

I am very open to a newly added song to the Little Mermaid. Any new things to the film is great in my view. The only thing is is that the animation has to flow correctly and the voice work should be the same. Plus, like others have said, since Disney provides both versions of the film on the dvd, a new song should be viewed as a great bonus.

As for the addition of new songs in the other platinums... I really liked Human Again in BATB since it really went with the film (animation and music was great). Morning Report in the Lion King was pretty good but the different Simba voice kind of threw me off. Overall, Morning Report did not ruin the film and it was fun to watch. Also, I think that songs/new animation should only be added to the more reent films rather then the older ones because there is a better chance that the "feel" of the film could still be reached due to the original staff working on it.

Yes! I agree 100%

You know, I'm starting to feel like everyone on this forum doesn't like me  (I'm a sensitive person, sorry)
I've never sat through an entire episode, but I've flipped through it before, and seen some pretty weird things (Ricky Martin "She Bangs" for example) Not to be mean, it's just not my cup of tea.

But MickeyMousePal and Yuki, no hard feelings, I didn't know you were talking about Kelly Clarkson for the credits, that would be fine, I just thought you meant integrate her voice to make it seem like Ariel was singing. In my opinion, that wouldn't fit. I feel the same as Kram Nebuer when he said,

I, too, feel the same as Kram Nebuer and Mermaid Kelly about Jodi singing. I would like to hear Kelly Clarckson sing in the credits, other than that, I'd rather Jodi sing. :)

I do not see how you could call that "vain" at all. Are you sure that was the word that you wanted to use?

Anyway, I do not see any problem with hating a show that you do not watch.

Personally I hate "American Idol" because of the way that it takes advantage of unsuspecting people. They lie to contestants and encourage them during preliminary rounds in order to set them for the overly harsh criticism and insults of Simon Cowell.

I have respect for William Hung. American Idol promoted him up through 3 rounds of competition before they tried to have Simon humiliate him on film. However, he did not allow them to make him into a victim. William Hung may never be a great singer, but he seems to have a great heart. He is a winner.

I have no respect for the producers of American Idol. They may have money and success, but they are losers who thrive on the misfortune of others.

I do not have to watch a rape being committed in order to hate rape; nor do I have to watch American Idol in order to hate the show.

I guess that vain really isn't a word that would make sense there...in fact, now that I review what I wrote, it makes no sense at all! Sorry about that.

Alright, I can see your explanation about how you can hate a show without really watching it or anything (although I don't see why you have no respect for the producers) just...forget everything I said..please? :)

^^ Haha, all you American Idol fans are so protective of your show . . . perhaps you might even say defensive . . . I wonder why . . . :P
I'm completely kidding - I think some real talent has come out of that franchise, like William Hung (aha! Kidding again! I think Fantasia's a really good singer. Plus, William Hung's new music video is the absolute funniest thing ever. You know what would be cool, though? If it was more than singing, and people could play instruments too. I would watch that. Anyway, I just got way too off topic. Carry on)!

Sorry, Mermaid Kelly I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. We all like you, ok. I would like to hear Jodi Benson sing for the Plaitum Edition of The Little Mermaid, but you know Disney the won't pay her good enought for the part so second runner would be Kelly Clarkson.
I would like Jodi Benson to reprise her role as Ariel. :D

I agree that Jessica's rendition of that song was just ok, and I like Kelly Clarkson as much as the next guy, but she doesn't have half the talent Jessica does. And while Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" is a classic that I've always loved, Jessica swept it away with this new one.

Also, putting Kelly Clarkson on the credits would involve taking out whatever was there to begin with. That's even worse than adding something. And it would bring nothing to the film. I'm fine with a special feature, but leave it out of the credits.

Mermaid Kelly: I, too, like you. Please don't feel that way! :)

That's not how it happened. I realize you don't watch it, so you may have misunderstood the process. There are no deceptive preliminary rounds. The first time contestants meet the judges are in the auditions. These are the first couple of episodes that we see. No one is lied to. If they are good, they are sent on. If they are bad, Simon and the others let them know it right then and there, and rather bluntly.

William Hung was in one of these auditions. In his very first performance, he was told to stop, and they proceeded to tell him he wasn't a good singer and that he wasn't cut out for the competition. He was then brought back onto the show as comic relief- knowingly. American Idol handed a short-lived success in the music career to a man with no musical talent, basically as a joke. He was in on it, and perfectly OK with it from every indication. He was never misled only to be humiliated. If he finds it embarassing, the money and fame must be worth the embarassment to him. I view it as him living a dream in the only way he can.

Those are two entirely different things...not a good comparison at all. We all know exactly what a rape is, but not everyone knows exactly what American Idol is.

American Idol is popular not because people want new pop idols or something. I, along with most people, enjoy watching it because I like to see how the judges react to the contestants, how the contestants react to the judges, and how the audience reacts to the overall thing. I found it very interesting that Jasmine Trias was kept in longer than LaToya probably because she cried on stage. I found it interesting that Jennifer Hudson was voted off so early. I still find it interesting that Clay is doing better than Ruben. I mean, if so many more people wanted Ruben to win, why is Clay doing better? I find it interesting that so many people are willing to face so many trials just to win. I find it interesting that people just love to watch others suffer...It's interesting, man.

I've never seen South Park, and I don't plan to. Is it because I hate it? No. I think that if I watch it I won't like it, but I'm not too sure of it. However, I don't like the bad language used in it, and that's why. I hate bad language...not the show.

A friend of mine used to hate this show called Kaitou Saint Tail...and she had never seen it. Sure, she knew what it was and had seen bits of it, but she hated it. When my Saint Tail DVD accidentally got into her hands, she watched it...uh, out of curiosity, I guess, or to somehow prove to me that it was stupid. Boy, the next day, she couldn't stop talking about it because she loved it so much!

I have another friend whose least favorite movie is the Lizzie McGuire movie simply because she hates the show. She's never seen the movie, but she claims it's her least favorite. Is that fair? No way! She should see it before she decides something like that!

Therefore, my friends...uh, well, pretend this is a thoughtful conclusion, okay?

I see Sekaino Jasmine's point, I'd have to say I agree completely. One has to see some of something in order to have right to claim that they love or hate something(more than a single episode, I'd have to say... :) )

Ah, a smile brought to myself. :) There are disagreements from time to time, but they are rarely, if ever, mean-spirited. It really is a great forum.

Everyone's right that this is a great forum. It's a good escape from homework or work or stress and a place where those with a common interest can discuss things with people who'll understand things like the importance of getting Song of the South on DVD, the ambivalent feelings of cheapquels, the latest Disney news, and of course whether or not Kelly Clarkson should sing during the credits of the Little Mermaid DVD :). I've seen some arguments before but there were usually smiley emoticons to follow! Yay UltimateDisney.com Forum, its members, Luke(its creator), and emoticons! :D :) 8) :P  rotfl :earsguy:

Hey Luke (or anyone else), just wondering, could you possibly make an Ariel Smiley face for our forum? (like the Peter Pan, Goofy, Tinkerbell, etc.) I don't know how they are made, but I would really appreciate it! I've hoped for one for a loooong time. :) Thanks

"Human Again" was all right. The film works fine without it, but it fits where they put it, and I don't think it hurts the movie if you choose to watch that version.

My feelings on "Morning Report" are quite opposite. That song totally interupts the flow of the story. Simba looks three years older for a minute and has a new voice... and he breaks away from what his father is teaching him to sing a song about nothing. It's way too Broadway... doesn't fit into the movie at all.

I've heard "Proud of Your Boy" is going to be inserted in Aladdin... and that's not my favorite song either. I can't imagine it adding anything to the movie unless you want to consider running time.

As long as the movie can still be viewed without the new songs, I don't mind if they want to add them. I don't like them, but some people do... probably the same people who like everything Disney gives them - not because all of it's good, but because it's Disney.
