Emily Blunt was promoting this on UK TV last night......and due to her lovliness, she may have persuaded me to see it next week. Looks cute, but wonder if the 3D will be worth it ?

The song has been recorded but can only be heard in the movie. It will not be released officially. The soundtrack of the movie has only the solo Elton John version.

That's a cruel tactic.

I mean, Disney...that's just low. :headshake:

Not really.

I'm not sure what they're expecting though. I'm just going to wait until someone uploads it anyway. I might actually have thought of getting the soundtrack.

Wait a minute. People are complaining, because Disney doesn't want us to listen to Lady Gaga?!? We should be praising them for not punishing us, for once.

It's still in the movie. There's no avoiding it (if you watch the movie).

Well, it is rather odd that the duet is not included on the movie's official soundtrack.

That's just like what they did with "Always Know Where You Are" on the Treasure Planet soundtrack. It only included the BBMak cover, not the original John Rzeznik version. Which frustrated the heck outta me.

Elton John Interview GNOMEO AND JULIET
http://collider.com/elton-john-intervie ... iet/73598/
How did the duet with Lady Gaga come about?

JOHN: The Lady Gaga duet came about really by me tying her down and hitting her over the head and saying, “Will you do this song with me?” No. She came to the house last year. We do a ball every year at the house, to raise money, and she was the entertainment and stayed at the house for two days. We just mentioned the film and the song and she said, “I’d love to do it!: And, because she has an incredibly hectic schedule, she did it between tour dates, somewhere in Scandinavia, and a little bit in New York. We did it completely separately, but she added so much of her own magic to the song and gave it a new life. Obviously, it was a duet and I was looking for someone to sing it with. Because she’s one of my new best friends and I love her to death, it was nice that she was so excited to do it. That was a real plus for us, and it worked out brilliantly.
It seems that there is a subtext, with the Reds and the Blues, in regard to what goes on in America. Was that intended?

JOHN: No. We started the film 11 years ago and, if we’d have had the foresight to do that, I would have said we’re fucking geniuses. But, it just happens to be that it’s coming out three weeks after the President made his speech in Tucson last week, which was a very poignant moment in American history, after this tragedy happened. I do feel that there is a message in the film, like we spend so much time hating each other because our parents tell us that’s what we have to do. I grew up conservative because my mum was a conservative, and when I finally realized what conservatives were, I changed my mind immediately. As children, we tend to copy our parents. I think this is a storyline saying that we should all get on, whether we’re Protestant or Catholic or Muslims or Jews, or if we’re Democrats or Republicans.

In America, it’s gotten so far stretched now, and the rhetoric has gotten so dangerous. It puts things in people’s minds and it’s so unnecessary. If there is any message that can come out of this film, which is purely coincidental with the timing, then I’m all for it. As I grow older, it saddens me to see a country that I love so much having so much of a gulf between people. They don’t meet in the middle and talk and put their differences aside. I played a Proposition Eight concert the other night, and the two great lawyers who are fighting for this same-sex relationship recognition in California, one of them is a staunch Republican and one is a staunch Democrat, yet they both think this is the right thing to do. That is what life is all about. It’s not about hatred. This film sends out a positive message, but it truly is coincidental.
Was impending fatherhood part of the songwriting process for this at all?

JOHN: Not really, because we wrote the songs so long ago. I never thought about that. You have to write the songs quite a long time ahead because you are writing for the storyboards and you have certain placement. We actually wrote four songs for the movie and two of them got left out. One of them was a really great song that Lily Allen sang. But, the storyboards changed, the story evolved and things get left by the wayside. You have to accept that, when you write for a musical, or an animation movie that has music in it.

I hope this gets out sometime down the road. They usually put the deleted songs on the DVD/Blu-Ray releases, don't they?

Did anyone else see the movie yet? I went to a very late showing last night, so the attendance was pretty sparse. But the audience really seemed to like it, laughing quite a bit throughout.

As for me, I went in with low expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the movie much more than I expected to. In fact, I enjoyed it more than Bolt. (I'm not claiming that it was a better film than Bolt just stating that personally I enjoyed Gnomeo & Juliet more).

For what it is worth, I think the trailers made it appear to be much cheesier than it turned out to be.

Sorry, but I am staying away from this one. The concept is just cliche and lame and the jokes (from the ads) make me cringe.

I've learned from experience to not trust movie trailers very much. When I watched the movie Kangaroo Jack, Jack didn't talk all through the movie like he talked all through the trailer I saw beforehand. Instead he spoke in one dream one of his owners' was having. Same thing with Snow Dogs. The dogs chattered a lot in the trailer but in the actual movie, they talked only in one dream their musher was having. Movie trailers tend to make animated movies appear more silly than they actually are to draw in kids to see them.

I saw it...and might have liked it more than... Tangled

It of course took me 2 hours and several theaters to get in due to that Beaver film having a mile long line, an un-comfy seat due to full theater, and the top being cropped off because the correct screen sizes were being used for Beaver

I've also now got an addiction to the song Hello Hello (This Version )
Hello Hello Hello Hello My My My What Have We Here? What a Surprise What A Surprise Hello Hello Hello Hello I'm Not Alone It's Good To Know :D :D
People in the audience were actually singing to it during the credits

Was definitely the best movie of 2011 so far! Saw it yesterday and it was wonderful. Got a little worried at the end but all turned out well as we all know. I loved it, my mom loved it, I recommend you all to see it. :)
