The music is great, the story is sincere. I laughed and cried.

3d animation is still not my favorite style, some movements seem weird and unnatural. The way the eyes move feels unnatural to me and Rapunzels eyes are too big. Just a little bit smaller would have been perfect. 3d does have advantages as well, like the incredible detail of the forest and her hair.

I loved the sincerity of the characters, the story and the songs. And the jokes were well timed and added something.
So luckily no jokes during beautiful moments.

Also, I didn't really like the voice over at the beginning.
I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was something like:
"Well, now you probably expect this and that......but nope, that's not the case...etc". It felt like they were ashamed to present it as the opening of a beautiful story telling. I immediately thought: "Well, I don't expect anything, why are you not just telling me the story? That's what I'm here for. Stop this popular nonsense.

Other than that, a wonderful film with it's heart in the right place.
I would love to watch it again.
It did feel like a Disney classic.
I know right! I swear her eyes got bigger and bigger as the movie went on. And then there's this one shot of Gothel where I thought she was a bug at first. She's so bug eyed.

Otherwise most shots of the characters looked beautiful. I was wondering if CGI models aren't always on-model throughout the film. I'd always thought so but there are a few scenes in this movie (especially in the boat) where she just doesn't look right. Perhaps this is something they purposely did to make it more 2D like

I didn't care for the intro or the outro either (the cupid man that floats up).

awesome. thanks. I'm going to do this.
Best part is, it's not just the dvd/BD cover; the actual English language movie opens with Walt Disney Pictures Present: Rapunzel. That's how I saw it in theaters last weekend.

I truly feel that's how it was meant to be seen, even though I acknowledge that without the name change and the awful marketing the movie would not have been a hit. It would have been the nail in the coffin for the studio. I do think the film will become a classic and people will refer to it as Rapunzel anyway. It's her story and the movie's tone is so close to Aladdin and The Little Mermaid that it's impossible not to place it next to those in the future.

And honestly, I think Flynn did Rapunzel a huge favor by cutting her hair. If it's already 70 feet long by her 18th year, can you imagine how long it would be when she was 25? 30? 45? (Someone with math skills can probably factor out the growth rate and provide actual numbers, haha!) It would be a terrible burden, physically and otherwise--

Just my two cents. 8)
Her hair had to be cut. That has always been the story of Rapunzel. It gets cut. Although it would have been nice if he cut it a bit father down, or if they didn't impose the "no more growth" rule. I like to think that now her hair will grow normally and she can have longer (but not crazy long) hair if she WANTS. Key word: wants.

And you are right, Flynn did her a favor. Although she was used to the length and could do some pretty amazing acrobatics with it, she will be freer with normal hair.

I liked the length it was cut at, but I still think it would have been better if they had allowed it to re-grow as well.

I would have been good with that. And either way they should have given her a fixer hair cut to give her some kind of style instead of leaving it all over the place jagged. I think that the fact that they did not smooth it some or give it better style made her look unpolished after being reunited.

And why not? This movie was in development for almost 10 years, and they had to create all kinds of software and such for it (like her hair, for instance).

If a movie like Megamind, which was cranked out in under a year and half I believe, can have a budget of $130 million, I think it's completely feasible that Tangled cost $260 million. Not to mention the cost of marketing.

And, assuming it is 260, I think it will have no problem making it back with the way it's pulling in money already.
so i'm supposed to believe that Tangled has the 2nd highest budget of any movie ever made? http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/records/budgets.php how would that just fly under the radar? i mean with the amazing way Tangled looks it's not too shocking that it would cost a lot to make and well worth it! but I think $160 is more accurate to be honest.

Well, it suits Rapunzel (a more "wild" look) and Flynn was DIEING. He cut her hair with a broken mirror piece and almost blindly cut her hair. I don't think the first thing Flynn said when he was healed was-

"WHY does your hair look all jagged? I swore I tried to cut it straight and even! Look. Lets try this again. I'll fix up your hair again. You want to look good when we go back to the kingdom, OK? Don't move..."

Went and saw Tangled again today. This is the first time I have ever seen the same movie more than once in a theatre. It was still great the second time around. Disney really hit a home run with this one!

hmmm so flynn definitely had a gypsy vibe about him originally

while it is more original then his final design, it looks a bit to close to aladdin

Yeah, definitely. That was back when he was called Bastion. Apparently for that design, she was inspired by Romain Duris, the French voice actor for Flynn :D

Nice movie poster, especially when it says, "Rapunzel," besides, "Tangled." I love it very much.
