Tonight, we kick off the final evening of awards by introducing the new Special award: The UltimateDisney.com/DVDizzy.com Legacy Award. Yours truly shall present them.

UltimateDisney.com/DVDizzy.com Legacy Award: Outstanding Long-Term Contribution & Dedication to UltimateDisney.com

:
The history of the Legacy Award actually does not begin here, but at the very first UltimateDisney Forum Awards. The very first Special Award was given to Luke and named the Special Honor: Exemplary Dedication To UltimateDisney.com By A Board Member. Since then, the idea of awarding notable members for their continued contribution to the site and forums remained. The next year, a special award entitled Most Missed Member was given semi-posthumously to Jack, one of the forum's original members whose sudden absence (and subsequent explanation) was a surprise for the forum. In 2007, Disneykid and CJ received special awards during the ceremony. Disneykid received Outstanding Long-Term Contribution & Dedication to UltimateDisney.com while CJ was the recipient of Maintenance of the Happy Birthday Thread & Exemplary Forum Moderation. The accolades didn't stop there, and the following year, the awards celebrated disneyboy20022 with a special award for Recognition of Outstanding UD Community Membership Despite Many Medical Concerns at a Young Age.
This year, we look back on those awards, and retroactively have assigned them to a new category: The Legacy Awards. The Legacy Awards will celebrate notable members of the website and forum community who have displayed a continued excellence in posting, forum activity, website activity, etc. not just in the past year, but in the entire existence of UltimateDisney.com and DVDizzy.com. This is not meant to supercede or replace the "Member of the Year" Award, but act as a companion, a "Lifetime Achievement" within the forum and site's history. Future Legacy Awards will continue to highlight notable members of the forum community, nominated by fellow forum members. However, we must not forget the original Legacy Award winners.
At this time, I now invite those five individuals to return to the stage to receive a new statue created specifically for this award:

Luke
Jack
Disneykid
CJ
disneyboy20022

But the awards don't stop here! In honor of the first five awards, the inaugural Legacy Awards will go to an additional five forum members.
On April 18, 2003, 25 people signed up and joined the UltimateDisney.com Forums, which had finally received its own section under the UltimateDisney.com website. This was the final step in ensuring that all things related to UltimateDisney were hosted entirely under its own website, and the forums have continued on since 2003, expanding over the years and seeing many members come and go and come back again. Of the first 25 who signed up for the forums, only five have continued posting (be it regularly or sparingly) into 2010 calendar year, the forums' seventh year in operation. We celebrate their continued dedication, presence, and positive contributions to the UltimateDisney.com & DVDizzy.com Forums by presenting them with the Legacy Award for Outstanding Long-Term Contribution & Dedication to the UltimateDisney.com/DVDizzy.com Forums:

Papa Bear (member no. 7)
Disneykid (member no. 8 )
The Lizard King (member no. 16)
Jake Lipson (member no. 17)
Loomis (member no. 19)

Congratulations to all the Legacy Award winners! We'll be back with more awards, starting with Topic/Thread of the Year!

Scarred4life returns to the stage to present our Topic/Thread of the Year!

Topic/Thread of the Year

:
With so many different threads in each discussion, this year’s nominees must really stand out from the rest. To be picked out of thousands of threads is quite an honor. (We have 8715 threads just in the Disney Discussion forum!) How could we choose only 5 of them? Well, certain threads just stand out. They’d have to, to be nominated out of over 20,000 threads. Some for providing information (The Tangled threads, and the Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition thread), others for popping up every once in a while, some for being fun (The What I Have Learned About The UD Forum Members thread), and others for being interesting and innovative (The Disney Essence- Fact or Fiction? thread). All of these threads are certainly worthy, and this year’s winner for Topic/Thread of the year is….
Beauty and the Beast: Diamond Edition (October 5th!) by CampbellzSoup
The Disney Essence: Fact or Fiction by Escapay
Tangled Thread, Part II by sotiris2006
Tangled Thread, Part III by sotiris2006
What I Have Learned About the UD/DVDizzy Forum Members by CJ
And the Golden Mickey goes to...

The Disney Essence: Fact or Fiction
by
Escapay

This is Escapay's 13th Golden Mickey Award. He has 7 nominations this year.

Thanks, guys! I'm surprised it was nominated at all!
Stay tuned as we find out who is the Super Sophomore of the Year!

Congratulations to jpanimation for winning the 'New member of the year award'! Your posts are always informative and interesting, and we often share a taste in (classic) movies.
Congrats too, to Amy (again!) for being 'Most informative member'. I can't count the times I've seen her posting new information, sources, links et cetera to provide us with more knowledge on our favorite subjects.
Also my compliments to Escapay for 'Thread of the year'. That was an inspiring thread, which gave room to a lot of heated, but fun debates. Though I feel I must also give some credit to Disney Duster, who came up with the term 'Disney essence' and persisted it existed.
Last but not least, my best wishes to the winners of the 'Legacy awards'. I only really know DisneyKid, but I'm sure all awards are richly deserved.

Wow..congrats to everyone and I'm deeply honored to be now considered one of the 5 original Legacy Award. I love being on here, heck i've even befriended a few of you guys on facebook that found me...d
Small question, Does this count as an additional award from the Golden Mickey that was granted to me the first time? Either way I love the UD forums and everyone on this forums....we're like a family in this forum and like real families and extended families we have feuds, but deep down we all want to get along and usually do.
Here's to the UD/DVDizzy Forum Awards and the Entire Site and the people that make it happen. Bravo may the forums live forever

I'll give Dusty the Golden Mickey, but I get the chocolate inside.
Your previous award is now part of the Legacy Award category, so it's still the same award. But you guys (Luke, Jack, Disneykid, CJ, you) now have two trophies commemorating that rather than the one.disneyboy20022 wrote:Small question, Does this count as an additional award from the Golden Mickey that was granted to me the first time?

And now, UmbrellaFish returns, just like these other nominees returned for another year, as we celebrate Super Sophomore!

Super Sophomore of the Year

:
A bunch of the members here are super, but the sophomores are extra super. Why are they so super, you ask? Because even though they’ve been on UD for two full years, they are still posting and contributing! Even amongst crazy and mad people, such as ourselves! Weird, huh?
Joking aside, I’m very glad we have such “super” sophomores here because they sure add a lot of spice to the board. Keep on posting, sophomores! Never graduate! Let's check out our Super Sophomores once more:
ajmrowland
Goliath
Margos
Neal
zackisthewalrus
And the Super Sophomore of the Year Award goes to…

ajmrowland

This is ajmrowland's 1st Golden Mickey Award.

Congratulations, ajmrowland! Stick around, we've got more awards coming up! But first, a reason why the cast of the Jersey Shore should never ever ever be seen or heard from again...

Wow, I get a double Legacy award for refusing to go away! Thanks so much! You can be sure I'll stick around to shoehorn Alice in Wonderland into any and every thread I visit (like now!). I'll always be around to remind people how much I love to pay premium rates in theaters just to see a film I already own, to help Escapay compile BBFC classifications when Disney's press releases don't tell us squat, to forever bemoan about the missing Harry Potter footage WB is hiding from us, and to protect sugary Americana films from cynics.
Thanks again!
Congratulations, ajmrowland!
I'm honored to have been nominated twice.

Hey, kids, what time is it? It's not Howdy Doody Time, but it is time for Jack Skellington and blackcauldron85 to present the award for UltimateDisney.com Review of the Year!

UltimateDisney.com Review of the Year

&
(Jack Skellington and blackcauldron85 both emerge from backstage. They're confused, as each thought they'd present by themselves.)
Jack Skellington: (through gritted teeth and a forced smile) Amy, what are you doing here?
blackcauldron85: (through the same gritted teeth) I was about to ask you the same thing.
Jack Skellington: I prepared a speech and everything.
blackcauldron85: So did I.
Jack Skellington: Well, let's just take turns, like, one line at a time.
blackcauldron85: Sounds good to me. You go first, I have to unscrew this smile.
Jack Skellington: An interesting thing about this site was that before I discovered this forum’s existence, I was always reading the UD reviews here.
blackcauldron85: 1984. A good year. Or so I've heard. Or not. A good book...yes, I think I've heard that.
Jack Skellington: And it was only two years later that I actually signed up for UD!
blackcauldron85: No Disney theatrical film was released that year. But Gone are the Dayes and Love Leads the Way were aired on TV. You don't remember those? Me, either.
Jack Skellington: I find the reviews to be very helpful, and they give me a damn good reason to burn a lot of my savings.
blackcauldron85: I wasn't born yet.
Jack Skellington: ...and that's it for me. I'm supposed to announce the winner now. Do you have more lines prepared?
blackcauldron85: Um...apparently I'm babbling. But why 1984? Well, when you take the average of the years of release for this category's films, you get 1984...
Jack Skellington: ...
(a cricket chirps.)
Jack Skellington: We should probably say who the nominees are.
blackcauldron85: Right...
Alice in Wonderland (1951): Special UN-Anniversary Edition (DVD) by Kelvin Cedeno
Alice in Wonderland (2010) (Blu-Ray + DVD) by Kelvin Cedeno

And now, a surprise award that I didn't announce during the voting process....

The Jiminy Cricket Spirit Award

:
As of this ceremony, we have over 6800 registered forum members, 6854 to be exact. It's not possible to determine how many are regular readers, how many stop by once in awhile, and how many have simply forgotten they have an account. But among those 6854 members, we have a small amount who are forum regulars in both reading and in posting. And unfortunately, as fun and exciting as the UltimateDisney.com/DVDizzy.com Forum Awards are, very few get to be nominated, and even fewer win.
As first-time host, I want to bring notice to a special UD forum member who has been around for years, who has offered their opinion on various Disney and non-Disney topics, shared what DVDs or Blu-Rays they bought, is an active player in Polls & Games, and helped in nominating and voting for the Forum Awards. They hardly have anything mean to say, and often have posts that are positive and contribute to the topic at hand. However, like most of the regulars, this poster was not recognized in any categories for the Forum Awards, something that I consider a real shame.
As such, I'm introducing the Jiminy Cricket Spirit Award. Why Jiminy Cricket? Because like the helpful cricket, we may overlook these members or take them for granted. And like Jiminy, they offer words that we may not often listen to or quote, but we still have heard/read what they've said. These members are part of the heart and soul of the forums, and while they're not as politically charged as Goliath or as self-proclaimingly awesome as Super Aurora or as outspoken and passionate as (insert anyone), they are still a part of this community. And tonight, we celebrate one special member who has contributed to the spirit of discussion here at the forums.
The first recipient of the Jiminy Cricket Spirit Award is...

The Jiminy Cricket Spirit Award

Just came back from an awesome pre-Halloween talent show. My body is sore and my throat a bit scratchy but I had A TON of fun!
Congratulations to all of the winners!
And I know Escapay just won the best member of the year award, but he should receive an INSANE amount of acclaim for putting these awards together. He organized everything, he was very patient, creative kept us entertained till the very end.
EVERYONE, ANOTHER ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO OUR HOST, ESCAPAY!!!
Let's close the evening with a beloved Disney song, "That's how you know" from "Enchanted"!
