International TLK2 covers - the US one is Godlike now!

Post by Jake Lipson »

Well, we all saw the Simba's Pride SE art and thought they couldn't do anything worse, but guess what, they did. lionking.org now has art up for the releases in Spain and Norway.

Look down at your own risk.

Wow, Jake, you're right. These are horrible! Still, they stick with this whole blue color scheme for the backgrounds that I just don't think is fitting!

These are horrible! It seems as if Simba and Zira were married and Kiara and Kovu were their children! It's disgusting!

It's funny to see that in Holland they change the official name of the series from the Dutch de Leeuwenkoning to The Lion King, and the funny thing is the combination they made now, a english title with dutch subtitle

you do make a point about how politically incorrect those covers look. I still think Kiara and Rafiki look very funky in the upcoming US cover

that Dutch cover is a joke right? I dunno...something hilarious as Simba's Trots looks like something I should collect

what's so funny about Trots, al rigth they probaly used the wrong translation for simbas Pride, but trots means pride, in a sentence like they did in the lion king 1 1.5 when they talked about pride rock

Hallo!

Disney could've used Simba's dochter or Simba's Koninkrijk. :)

Tot ziens.

The translation can be taken as "Simba's daughter" where Simba is proud of. So Kiara is Simba's pride. "Pride" is "Trots" translated to dutch... Just look at Babelfish, put pride in and select English to Dutch.

Am I the only one that likes this cover? I mean, better colors, better character design, ... The only thing that is missing is a better evil grin on Zira's face. That's all, the Dutch cover now stinks. I would rather have the Scandinavian one!

Thanks for the information Jens.

Zira's smile does look odd. I wish she had an evil grin instead.

In English, the word pride can have a dual meaning: proud / dignity and a group of lions. It seems that other languages don't have a word that can describe both proud and lions.

Simba ist jetzt der König der Löwen. In German, the subtitle is Simba's Königreich. Königreich translates into kingdom.

The Hungarian title is Szimba's Büszkesége, wich translates roughly into Simba's Pride / honor.

Norwegain name is "Simba's Stolthet" which means Simba's Pride, as in proud.

The Polish subtitle is "Czas Simby." I believe this translates into Simba's Time in English. I think I'm wrong.

Later all. This is an interesting thread.

Check up an English dictionary for 'trot'. You'll see why we're laughing. 8)

God Dag, Konnichiwa!

The Japanese version looks like Spain's and Norwegian's version. It will be out on July 23, one month before the US version.

Disney will release a triology set in Japan. The complete set won't be in a fancy box that is being sold in the United Kingdom.
