>>that is really quite sad. i would love to spend a week in there organising what i can, helping to protect things for future generations and technologies.<<

There have been many who care and try - - the problem is that institutionally the system appears dead set against reinvesting in Walt's library beyond the animated classics.

The only way we'd ever get to have the library reinvested in is if we ourselves, as serious Disney fans, become associated with the company itself.

I want too point out that Disney have not made any official statement in public that the WDT DVD line is dead, Leonard Maltin and Jerry Beck (who gets his information from Maltin I think), and specially the people at the customers desk my indeed not have clue what is going on with the WDT line, as long as studio don't officially announce that the WDT Line has ended I don't buy into the idea it is dead. I would say that we are left in dark.

I would want them to do the following or similar come clean and say it has ended if that is the case. For example when Warner Bros announced Looney Tunes Golden Collection vol 6, they (Warner) said the Golden Collection series was over. But promised and new LT sets called Super Stars, first such set is planed to come out in august, I hope the new Super Star series sell well so Warner will see a profit in releasing the reaming LT/MM shorts so I can complete my collection (go to goldenagecartoons.com if you want read more about the Super Star line)

However I do think that calling a thread "I think we may need to save..." sound like we will try to save the WDT line if Disney wants to cancel it but if we fail we don't care so I think it would be best if this thread would die so more proper discussion of what can be done to save the line would take place.

SO WHY DONT SOME ONE MAKE A FACEBOOK PAGE TO SEND MESSAGE TO DISNEY THAT WE WANT THIS DVD LINE TOO CONTINUE

Why in the world would they announce that the line is dead? They have nothing to gain from that but bad PR and angry fans.

More likely they'd just like to wish away Walt and his works to focus on more "relevant and compelling" products.

I like your thinking. As well as getting more in this line, I'd like to make a push for Disney to give us at least the remaining sets for "The Disney Afternoon" shows. I'm talking Ducktales, Tales Spin, Gargoyles, Darkwing Duck, Gummi Bears and Rescue Rangers.

I think we need to get this going. I'd be interested in starting something, but could not do it alone, so I'd need help. Who is interested in helping me? We can start a Facebook page or something and then start a letter writing campaign proper and get a petition. I just read that the film "Newsies" was put on DVD after similar actions, so there is a history for Disney to cave in if they see an up side for themselves.

More Disney Treasures and the Disney Afternoons shows? What do you all say? We would need a good title for the page as well. Should there be two different pages for both endeavors, or do people here think there is room for both on one page? Let's start generating ideas here people! :D

Oh my gosh, we need to get these ideas to Disney as part of any campaign! :D

This is a good start and I just got an address for the Disney Movie Club, but what about the Disney Afternoon Shows? Can we get enough people behind to back more Treasures AND TDA? Should they be different groups or can they be one in the same? Can I get people to help me do this? I'm ready to form those Facebook groups, but I can't do this alone.

Now that Zorro has been released, the other Walt Disney related TV Series I'd like to get on DVD, either in season sets or "best of" sets or themed sets (Ludwig VonDrake, etc.):

Disneyland
Walt Disney Presents
Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color
The Wonderful World of Disney
The Mouse Factory
The Mickey Mouse Club
Disney Family Album

Chatting with Leonard this morning, he confirms the Treasures line is dead. I suggest that people do write to Disney, though, as decisions like that can always be reversed. My experiece is that paper mail gets more attention than e-mail...

Well, there's another annual 100 bucks I won't be spending on Disney product. Now that I think about it, I might not be spending a single cent on Disney product anymore as they seem to have completely abandoned their back-catalog. I already got the first go around on their feature length animated stuff so buying it yet again, and with modern coloring interpretations to boot, seems like a waste of my money. Thanks Disney.

Now I'll have to buy as many as I can to convince them otherwise.

Common sense is an epic fail these days.

Anybody willing to find out who's behind this atrocity so we can conspire to get them fired?

If this makes any of you feel better, I consider The Boys, Walt and El Grupo w/ uncut Saludos Amigos, Waking Sleeping Beauty and the Laugh-O-Gram shorts and Purdum reel on Beauty and the Beast to be de facto Disney Treasure sets.

Thanks for letting us know, Bill - but that is truly a shame. What a great series of DVDs. I will certainly call and/or write to them.

This is some fantastic stuff! I just wish it included a Song of the South set, a second rarities, a set for Ranger Woodlore/Moby Duck/and other toon host episodes of the anthology show, and a set to finish Swamp Fox and Baca. As for what was mentioned, they are high on my request list too, especially the ones that have unedited versions of the anthology films. I would have also mentioned Ludwig's Mickey and the Beanstalk episode though, and while I applaud what he suggests for the EPCOT set, I would also wish it to include Captain Eo, all the footage (animated opening too!) for Cranium Command, and some material dealing with World Showcase, like perhaps original films that have been replaced. Didn't they change the China film at least? Anyway, of supreme importance to me would be the Danny Kaye hosted opening celebration TV program and some sort of featurette on the original music for the park. I have the Disney parks CD that has all the great EPCOT songs from the '80's that I greatly miss and still feel they should bring back, because they have that optimistic futurist spirit that Futureworld now lacks. It's not even about the Future anymore it seems. I guess they are changing it to "Discoveryland", but to me that is sooo boring.
