**BUMP**

I just saw Kick-Ass last night and it was super awesome! Hats off to Nicholas Cage and now I am anxious to see him in this!

A question for everyone: How much money do you think this film will make? The budget for the movie is quite large, if one is to believe Wikipedia...

Personally, I think this movie is going to be a big hit. I'm surprised it's still referred to in some circles as a live-action remake of the Fantasia sequence, while it obviously is an attempt at being another Harry Potter franchise wannabe like Percy Jackson, Vampire's Assistant, etc... Though, I do think it's going to be a great film. I won't know till I see it, but I liked Vampire's Assistant. Sadly, most of these attempts at building the next Potter franchise flop and we never get the second film, even when Jim Carrey is involved (A Series of Unfortunate Events). Even Narnia has had its trouble. I think this one will do better, though we'll just have to wait and see. I'm psyched for it though.

I love behind the scenes stuff. I makes me feel more engaged in the movie when I finally see it in the theater you know?

Yes, I have seen them on Disney's official Facebook-site for the movie. They are cool!

Yeah! Between those and the new clips and trailers, I am really excited for this movie. I think the dynamics between Jay and Nic will be awesome too.

I haven't been paying attention to this project at all, but I was watching TV and a commercial for this movie came on. I was delighted to see them use The Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence from Fantasia, but everything else didn't really excite me. I'm not even sure I'll be renting this, unless I hear good things after its release.

I saw a commercial for this yesterday and even though I think it's a terrible project (yes, Fantasia's number one fan and I don't like it) it's definitely interesting. The only thing that I really liked about the trailer was a faster version of Dukas' Sorcerer's Apprentice. I love the piece and even thought it wasn't in the actual tempo, I'm glad it was there. Other than that, I didn't like it that much.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010)

Post by dvdjunkie »

Saw the trailer for this movie when we saw "Toy Story 3".

Looks pretty interesting, but I don't know if it worth the price of even a matinee showing. The cast looks good, even if Nicolas Cage is in it, and it looks to have a pretty decent story.

Anyone else planning on seeing this in the theater or are you going to wait for a DVD rental?

Waiting for cable. And not even pay cable. Disney is in a rough patch with their live-action unit (G-Force, Race to Witch Mountain, Tooth Fairy) and this isn't going to help. Trailers are garbage.

I might see it in theatres with my brother.

BTW, there already is a thread for the movie, Bill:

The Sorcerer's Apprentice live-action remake.

Tooth Fairy is a Walden Media/20th Century Fox film. :P

It's still crap, but crap from another studio.

Haha, reminds me of that bit from "Ed Wood."

Edward D. Wood, Jr.: Now, what is the one thing, if you put it in a movie, it'll be successful?
Georgie Weiss: Tits.
Edward D. Wood, Jr.: No, better than that. A star.
Georgie Weiss: you must have me confused with David Selznick. I don't make major motion pictures; I make crap.
Edward D. Wood, Jr.: Yes, but if you take that crap and put a star in it, then you've got something.
Georgie Weiss: Yeah. Crap with a star.
