Eilonwy looks about ten years older on the cover than in the film.... But at least she's on the cover, which automatically makes this cover art better. Actually, this cover art is EPIC, which is what the movie deserves, considering how lazy the GC cover art was.....

It's just deleted scene, singular, and sadly not the infamously gruesome and graphic stuff that was cut during final-animation.

They found pencil animation spanning 3 years and recreated the audio, even using original orchestration, to present it. Les showed us about a minute of the scene to wet our appetite and it was great! On his DVD, the runtime was around 9 minutes long, but he said that sometimes they are shorter when Disney actually releases them because they edit them down, so it could be shorter when it comes out.

Aw, phooey. There they go again, promising something in a trailer, then not going through on it in the end. Need I remind you all of the Aristocats DVD that was originally going to be a double-disc, but got released one disc short? :x

I think the cover art is nice, but I was opting more for a castle setting with the Horned King.

And Flewduur Flam, too. (spelling?)

If this is releasing in the fall, like the cover says, and BatB is coming in the fall too... I have a feeling we aren't getting and WDT sets this year.

:) Besides the off-modelness, it's pretty good. I prefer the VHS cover (it's more colorful, I guess), but I'm just glad that the release apparently will be coming...as long as they don't push it back again!

what are the chances of this title receiving a 2-Disc treatment and getting a meaty documentary which extensively discusses its long history, production stage, failure at the box office, and also gives retrospective insights from the artists and film makers themselves?

Well, it doesn't say anything about it being a double-disc DVD.

Slim to no chance in hell even if it freezes over unless Walt Disney comes back to life from the grave or Disney Marketing is visited by 3 ghosts from Disney pasts Roy E. Disney, Walt Disney, and Roy O. Disney :P

I'm just happy to see that it appears it really will be released soon. Seeing as I love The Black Cauldron it's a given that I'll double-dip for this new one.. even though I would have loved to have seen it given better treatment, I guess we can't expect that much, at least this is something.

I'm mainly curious about the restoration that is going to be presented on this disc. Will it be the same restored version presented on the old French DVD? Perhaps an all new one like The Great Mouse Detective has apparently received.

Cool, they actually devoted a good cover art for The Black Cauldron. It does look very good, and they even have the fairies on it too! I just wish that my computer could let me see the rest of it!

This probably isn't much, but I found it in a French forum that a friend of mine linked me to. Now, I am still hoping to see the deleted scenes.
Why the heck is Taran not holding the sword?
Or why doesn't he look like the kid in the movie ?
Think about this. Once bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread.

Whoa. I've only ever seen that first cel. Now I can see why that sequence was deleted.

Now that's interesting! Like Scaps I hadn't seen those last two cells before.

It's Gross, but I'd still love to see all of it restored or in its original film form.
