Aladdin Sequels on DVD (Now Slated for UK, US Soon?)

I just read that Disney is planning to relase Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves on November 1.

Also planning to relase Jasmine's Wish and Jasmine's Greatest Treasure on October 4th. They say straight to video could it be the same thing as straight to DVD.

They're the UK schedule. But one would imagine the US schedule will be similar.

Oh man, I hope this holds true for R1 discs .... Me wants the trilogy

Buena Vista have also sent over some release dates for a number of new Aladdin releases. The first film will be released for the first time on the 4th October. As well as a newly remastered transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, the disc will include new behind the scenes featurettes, a music video, some deleted sequences, interactive games and more. Also released on the 4th October will be the straight to video releases Jasmine's Wish and Jasmine's Greatest Treasure. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you really shouldn't call the three aladdin movies a trilogy. It doesn't work when two of the movies are crappy direct to video releases. They have to all be theatrical releases for it to work as a trilogy. With that said, I will probably pick up The King of Thieves, but I'm going to skip The Return of Jafar, since it didn't have all of the original cast.

I have noticed the recentley Disney has been realsing a lot of thier movies in 2 disc formatt... Simba's Pride will have 2 discs does anyone know if both Aladdin sequals will too ?

Direct to video SEQUELS are still SEQUELS.

If Tolstoy had written War and Peace 2: Electric Boogaloo on cocktail napkins, would it be any less a sequel?

Dictionary.com defines sequel:

1. Something that follows; a continuation.
2. A literary, dramatic, or cinematic work whose narrative continues that of a preexisting work.
3. A result or consequence.

So if a movie follows up on another movie - which Return of Jafar and the other one - quite clearly do, then it is a SEQUEL.

The same source defines TRILOGY as:

A group of three dramatic or literary works related in subject or theme.

Ok, because both follow ups are classed as sequels, then I would say they fit the subject and theme requirements.

Thus by any definition, Aladdin Boxset can be classed as a trilogy, simply because they all have Aladdin in them.

I personally welcome the boxset. Quite handy.

I, also, would welcome a boxed set of these Disney dvds. I'm not a fan of the sequels per se, but agree that a box for the Aladdin movies would indeed be handy and present well in any dvd collection. Here's hoping they just have enough this time

Man, I hope this holds true for R1. We've all highly expected to hear this anyways, but it's nice to see something only slightly more promising/official come down through the grapevine.
