Warner US drops Snappers?

It would appear from looking at the upcoming artwork on various e-tailers that Warners are dropping the snapper cases for their new releases. Warner UK and Aus have all ready done this.

I don't know about you, but I'm sort of upset. I like the snapper cases.

Can anyone confirm the snappers have been dropped?

I think it's for certain tittles.......They're using more digipaks and amaray on their 2 disc sets but their one discs are still in the ugly snappers.

Apparently the discs in the Marx Bros collection are in Aramays, and Torque and Scooby Doo and the Loch Ness Monster on Amazon sure look like Aramays:

Snappers may be ugly, but they sure held a disc in place.

I've had a lot of "floaters" in amarays, but never in snappers.

Floaters, snappers...this is all sounding a little suspect now...

I don't understand how anyone could like snapper cases. They're butt ugly and are the exact opposite of long lasting. I also hate digipaks, but can stand them slightly more than snappers. I have yet to see a WB single disc in an amaray case, though I'm sure they exist. It seems double disc WB titles that are new releases get amaray cases while classic titles get digipaks. Although I'm thrilled at the change, this may mean that the forth coming Harry Potter DVD's won't match the first two on my shelf, unless WB makes future HP DVD's amazing and re-releases the first two in equally amazing editions with amaray cases.

Well, I say, how can anybody prefer Digipak's to snappers. If you jave problems with wearing out your Snappers (?) Digipaks show wear as soon as you open and close them a couple of time, and the corners are always "bashed in" too (I've had not problems with any of my snappers showing wear) but the discs almost always come off the hubs. I especially hate the multiple disc Digipaks, like the ones used in the X-Files sets, where they always end up skewed diagonally when closed. Digipaks are many times worse than Snappers.

As for Snappers? What really is the problem? All of my snappers are in perfect condition. I have never had a disc come off the hub in transit (unlike virtually every other case, including Aramays) and I think the New Line Platinum snappers (with the heavier cardstock and gatefold covers) were something that made the disc appear to be special.

What do you people do with Snappers? Throw them around the room and pour beer all over them?

I'm not a fan of snappers 'cause, as well as not having a very "aesthetically pleasing" look, they're a bitch to store on shelves. Whenever I want to pull a snapper out, that little front tab always gets caught on the dvd case next to it, and can often pull the neighbor out with the intended disc. Same thing when you put a dvd IN next to a snapper; the edge of the case sticks on the snapper's tab and pushes it back.

And no, I don't pack my dvds tightly, either. But heck - what a trivial quibble to be fuming over. I mean, ya know - we certainly have it rough.

Is the only reason for liking snapcases the fact that there aren't loose discs inside? I don't know where you people buy your DVD's from, but I've never had a loose disc in any of my amaray cases. Are there any more reasons for liking snapcases? (You know, this could've been a poll with amarays vs. snapcases/digipaks).

Don't forget, a lot of non-US residents rely on international post for recieving their discs! But I did like the New Line gatefold snappers enormously.

I never liked those snapper cases either, but the one thing I hate even more is those little security devices. A lot of stores like to sneak them into the packages and in a plastic case its fine, easily removeable. But in these paper or cardboard cases you can easily ruin the package... then there are the digipacks where they sneak the security device in under the plastic tray, making it very difficult to remove. I hate those things, they are ugly and ruin the package. I'd rather Warner keep the snapper cases rather than stores keeping those security devices.

also that hasnt been mentioned Snappers are not safe when someone fall on the cover part since it's cardboard the disc is not really safe in there. I've had "floaters" in snappers several times! besides that they're ugly and cheap looking. in this era where presentation is a key to selling a product Warner's snapper cases (since they're produced in-house) are the number one reason I don't buy many WB tittles unless they come in digipaks or amarays. I rather hold off and see if they get re-packaged or re-released unless i really like the movie alot and have to have it!

I have to transport DVDs a lot (back and forth b/w college and home), and I can say that the snap-cases just don't hold up as well. The cardboard can't withstand the same kind of duress that the amarays can (where does that word come from, anyways?). The benefit to them, however, is that they are generally cheaper. I'm ok with that (except when it happens to a movie like The Matrix!).

SecretDisneyMan- Wow, I'm surprised that Friends: The Final Episode won't be in a snapper case... all the other Friends releases have been. I doubt I'll buy it anyways, though, as I see no reason not to just wait for Season 10's release.

Actually, I'm asuming it's in an amaray, all the pics of it are in amarays(but then again all of Matchstick Men's pics showed IT in an amaray

). And if you wait for season 10, you're gonna kick yourself in the butt because the final episode will NOT be with the set. I must say, the most stupid thing Warner has ever done.

Are the digipaks ya'll are referring to the kind on such 2-Disc DVDs as Casablanca and Harry Potter? If so, I don't find anything wrong with them. I find them very easy to take care of, so long as they're handled properly.

Really, I feel the same way about snappers - except I think they are completely ugly looking. If I see a movie I want to buy, and I realize its in a snapper, it seriously turns me off to buying it (doesn't stop me from buying it though). Plus, I prefer snappers to be discontinued just so most of the DVDs on the shelf with match as keepcases - snappers jut out over any of the others, which looks pretty unattractive.

Same here Jack I dislike all of Warner Brothers snappers DVDs.
When I see on I just laugh at them they are so weak and ugly to buy.
I will never buy one again!!!
Why does WB make them like that are they cheaper that way?

Like Scooby-Doo and the animated Scooby Doo movies.
The only snapper I got was Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman.

Here in Holland Warner has also stopped releasing dvd's in snappers.

I just love snappers. I like them much more than the standard Amaray: it is just a much nicer and better looking kind of packaging. Actually: I can see this kind of packaging become 'collectable' and I am shure going to hang on to mine. Btw: I have no problems at all with snapper's getting damaged or anything but I have had to replace quite a number of amarays due to scratching or sticker-marks.

Well, my Marx Bros boxset came in Aramays. And already I had a floater when the set was delivered, and, surprise, surprise, Warners are not including any chapter inserts.

Already their presentation is going downhill. That didn't take long did it? Approximately 0 days after switching to Aramays.
