Wow!
I just watched a small (6 min) clip from the first episode on Youtube.com, and, encourage anyone else who is a fan of the live action output from Disney, to check it out. What a great show it seems to be. I did some surfing and it seems that according to IMDB; there were quite a few episodes, and a few of them merged together for theatrical release. I can not understand why it has not found a way to dvd, especially in the Treasures line.
"Texas John Slaughter" should be on dvd

there a long long list of what should be on the Treasures or on DVD in general.....I guess Texas John should get in line....although there may not be a treasures release this year....or for a while...I guess its in limbo for now....and Disney Movie Club for some strange reason hasn't had new exclusives since last year.....my theory is they are waiting for the KeyChest thing to release new material....but who knows...Disney flip flops so much latley it makes Brett Favre look like a guy who sticks with one decision and stays with it no matter what

I whole-heartedly agree. Texas John Slaughter is a great series and deserves to be released. 17 hour-long episodes in all with a fantastic supporting cast throughout. Even if they decide not to release the series they could do the 5 movies that were made by editing shows from the series. Some of the features hit the Video Market in the late 80's and bring a high price on Amazon and EBay now.

I wholeheartedly endorse the release of all 17 episodes of The Tales of Texas John Slaughter on DVD! It truly is a terrific show. Other wonderful series from the anthology show that are in dire need of a release on DVD include:
1. the rest of Swamp Fox (total of 8 episodes)
2. the rest of The Nine Lives of Elfego Barca (total of 10 episodes)
3. The Saga of Andy Burnett (total of 6 episodes)
4. The New Adventures of Davy Crockett (total of 5 episodes)
5. Daniel Boone (total of 4 episodes)
