Well, look on the bright side. The Evil Queen's name was never said at all. And I'm glad they did say Facilier's name that one time, because I realized I'd been mispronouncing it since forever. Totally embarassing. It was sort of like hearing Hermione or Penelope for the first time and learning they weren't "Her-me-on" and "Penny-lope."IagoZazu wrote:So was I the only one who heard Dr. Facilier's name mentioned only once? Ariel says it too, at least once:Disney's Divinity wrote:Anyway, I think the only characters who use Ursula's name in TLM is Triton and the eels.
I'm sure it did make him an image of power and danger. I didn't pronounce his name right until the movie either, I pronounced it "Fa-cilier" until I found out it was "Fa-cili-a" like it had a little French. And he was the one who said his own name.Disney's Divinity wrote:Well, look on the bright side. The Evil Queen's name was never said at all. Anyway, I think the only characters who use Ursula's name in TLM is Triton and the eels. Using titles has a menacing effect (see Voldemort; wow, 2 HP references in one post--what's wrong with me?). It denotes some authority to the character, too. It definitely boosted Facilier a little.
I think Dr. Facielier is the best villain since Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame and he has taken his place as one of my favourite Disney villains next to Scar, Lady Tremaine and Jafar.IagoZazu wrote: I thought Dr. Facilier was a good villain. He's no Maleficent, Jafar, or maybe Ursula, but I would put him close to some of the others. I think "Friends on the Other Side" is a good villain song and I like it. His shadow friends were very creepy.

After hearing "Friends on the Other Side" more than once, it became one of my favorite villain songs. It has that spooky tone and lyrics that stick to you. It doesn't top my favorite "Be Prepared" but even though it might be blasphemy, I think it's just as good or even better than "Poor Unfortunate Souls." Sure, the latter has that classic sound and Ursula's voice, but I think "Friends on the Other Side" is more stylish and upbeat. I also think it sounds better on the CD. Both are good in the movie, but I was never afraid of Ursula (even as a kid) and I couldn't help but feel my heart race during the finale of "Friends on the Other Side." Dr. Facilier put on a mask, Naveen was bound by snakes, everything turned green and purple, the spooky beat and rhythm rattled the theater, Naveen was stabbed by the wooden skull and there was blood, and after the finale everything turns into darkness and you could only see Dr. Facilier's skull mask fading in the dark. It was pretty intense, but I was never scared. The Disney Villains never scared me.disneyboy20022 wrote:JDCB1986 wrote: I think Dr. Facielier is the best villain since Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame and he has taken his place as one of my favourite Disney villains next to Scar, Lady Tremaine and Jafar.
That's how i'd rank him.....best villain since Frollo...even though Frollo didn't have any magic powers (unless over abuse of the law for your own evil personal gain or beliefs and corrupting the law counts) but Frollo was one of the Human characters that had been in a Disney Villain yet he could still send a chill down the back of my spine like Lady Tremaine...
Dr. Facielier is a good villain and I think his song only does him more justice....I mean maybe its because teh last 2-d animated villain looked like Big Daddy in Princess and the frog and was a yodeling to steal cows...I find facilier to be better than Alamada Slim...in every way....Slim I think in Home on the range though ranks below with Edgar the Butler from Aristocats....forgettable..
Although now that I think about Edgar from Aristocats....Lawrence looks like him only quite a bit shorter and much tubbier![]()
and my mom thinks it looks like The Proud Family was an early rough draft for drawing the characters in PATF.....Facilier looked like Oscar and maybe Bobby and Mama odie looked and sounded like Suga Mama and even Tiana reminded me of Penny proud and even the snake that mama odie had a feeling of the dog that Suga Mama had....

What you pointed out is a cultural reference. Still has no relevance to the plot.a-net-fan wrote:Actually the Hillbillies werent pointless. Frog hunting is a real sport down there and a realistic threat to any frog in those parts. lol Frog legs anyone?Super Aurora wrote:

Also I bet you would like the movie even better seeing it on the big screen. The animation is just amazing and some segments just will never be the same experiencing them outside of the movie theater. Go to the theater and see it if you can.
