Angels and Demons DVD question

Post by Barbossa »

I'm trying to decide which version of Angels and Demons to buy as it seems each store has some variation of it.
Every store has the Theatrical Release Edition. What I want to buy is the Extended Edition.

Walmart has a 5-disc set that includes the 2-disc full screen version of Da Vinci Code (which I don't need as I already got the widescreen version)

The Real Canadian Superstore has a 3-disc set in a special book-style case. This set also includes a small booklet. Does anyone know what version of the movie is in this set? Is it the Theatrical Edition or the Extended Editon?

The cover does not specify and I asked a sale associate, but you know, they don't have a clue. Also, is this 3-disc set that Superstore has, is it available anywhere else or is it exclusive to Superstore?

Yup, I know about that one. The one that I have my eyes on is a Real Canadian Superstore exclusive 3-disc set. However, the cover is different from both the Theatrical set and the Extended set. The cover does not indicate which version is in ths 3-disc set, however, the featurettes are identical as to the 2-disc Extended Edition, and the 3rd disc is more featurettes, so I guess I'll assume that it is the Extended Edition.

Doesn't Target have some exclusive edition? Or did I just not pay enough attention to their commercial?

Target probably does too.

Ok, I risked it and bought this 3-disc set from Superstore. I guess it is the Extended Edition as on the back it says "Includes MORE movie and over 90 minutes of thrilling special features" - it says the same thing on the back of the bluish-colored Extended Edition DVD.

I was also looking at the Walmart 5-disc set. It include the 2-disc extended edition, the 2-disc fullscreen edition (why fullscreen?) of Da Vinci Code, and the 5th disc includes an extra 94 min long featurette and a digital copy of Angels.

The Superstore one is actually pretty neat. The cover is similar to the Clone Wars Season 1 cover. It's like a hardcover book. The DVDs are attached to the inside of each cover and attached in the middle is a book with behind-the-scenes photos.

Yup, that's the one I got at Superstore, so it's not just exclusive to Superstore or Target.

If anyon's wondering, I just watched the 3rd disc in the set. It's just 4 short featurettes that I think were on the internet early this summer.

Barbossa, I think you need to start thinking very hard about going BLU!!!!

If you go blu-ray you don't have to search so much for those special editions. That is the magic of Blu-Ray, there is never any question as to which version you are getting.

And if you catch the Blu-Ray on sale during the first few days, they are considerably cheaper.

:D

Well, my current job isn't exactly high-paid and there's those pesky student loans that will have to be paid-off...

I dunno, maybe if the economy picks up next year and I'll be able to find better work after my current job which is seasonal (I'm working as a lift attendant at a local ski hill). I'm also considering going back to University next year to get another degree so I will have to save up for that.

I picked this up on blu-ray and also picked up Davinci Code a few months back on bluray. I am finding that the prices are not always that different from dvds and some of them come with bluray, dvd and digital copies

Wal-Mart had an exclusive holographic lithograph with the Blu-Ray release. Does anyone have an actual picture of it?

Not really... for lack of a better example, Wal-Mart had an exclusive Blu-ray version of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" that included the IMAX versions of scenes. There's different releases of Blu-rays, too.
