As a side note, I'd love to see a Disney animated movie with a gay couple. But I know that's not going to happen for a few decades (and that's being optimistic). At least they've got non-white couples now.

Nah, I'm just kidding. Haven't seen the movie in almost a decade. It wasn't good enough, anyway. And all the damn spit and fart jokes. That was just nasty.
Even if you think the movie isn't good enough, you just should watch it again I think. Just to see that there are no 'spit and fart' jokes! (o.k. the goat lets out a big burp at one time)

But this just shows the selflessness of Quasimodo the more; he knows the girl he loves is in love with another yet he saves her out of friendship.
And to defend Esmeralda: just because she was kind to Quasimodo doesn't have to mean she was in love with him; never did she tell him " I love you". So she didn't 'dump' Quasimodo, she just happened to fall in love with 'blondie' Phoebus.

As for you remark about "Pocahontas", Ariel'sprince: he did not return but they would meet again one more time in England.
No,he didn't.
If she dosn't love him then she *happends* to talk to him the whole, and besides-they're "outcasts" in their world, perfact match, but no,she wanted blondie.
Um,yeah, they meet and go back TOGETHER to Virginia, yay! :D.
Well,i just read the script and there are spit jokes,Disney :headshake:.

Hmmm... have to watch HOND again to see it. Esmeralda spat at Frollo that is true, but in that case it was SERIOUS.

I saw the clip on YouTube now, well, she could have said "Never!!!" or kick him or something (maybe not kicking since she was tied up) but she chose to spit on him :? that's nasty (for exmaple-i forgive Mulan since she did thought it's nasty but had to make people think she's a guy so she had to act like those nasty soldiers).

So you're bashing her for spitting on an old pervert who's about to unjustly burn her at the stake?

...

Tough crowd.

Anyway, I've never really found any film Disney particularly sad. Fox and the Hound ended happily to me. And I simply didn't like Pocahontas enough to care. I guess Lion King is the only film I cry with every time I watch it.

And, of course, Hercules was sad. I mean, Megara actually has to die twice. Once is enough for me.

Nope,I dislike her because she left Quasimudo for blondie.
But she also was bad when she spat! good thing she's not a Disney Princess.

What exactly do you mean with that?

I agree with Lazario that there was more at stake in Pocahontas.

Ditto. I think you gots some 'splainin'z to do, Vermin.
Sorry, I didn't know that you guys were asking.

So anyway- although Pocahontas and John Smith were together, I can't call it love, more like a couple of really big dates. At the end of the movie, she saved his life from her people, and he saved her father's life from his people. Therefore I believe it was more of a "we're even now", and they stopped dating.

Don't get me wrong- I love Pocahontas, it's just this is how I interpret the ending, which is why it's not so sad for me. However, I can relate to The Fox and the Hound, since I've practically lived it.

Sorry, but I too am going to have to disagree with you.

It's very obvious that their relationship is love. Pure, romantic love. They were practically created to be soulmates, which is especially indicated by the magic that surrounds them, like the leaves blowing around them in the wind and the spirits working their magic to do things like make Poca speak English almost immediately.

Here's a link to an excellent analysis of that romance, that I think is worth reading:

Getting back on topic, I think both of those films' endings were quite bittersweet.

It's more evident now that "If I Never Knew You" has been added back in. I used to agree with you, Vermin Friends, but now that I've seen the movie with that scene back in.... I know that they loved each other deeply!
