Maybe King Louie? I don't know, but Lawrence is very ape-like... it was the first thing I noticed about him.

SPOILERS

There is one point during the final confrontation where Tiana has a hold of the talisman Dr. Facilier uses in his magic. Facilier then shows her a vision of her dream restaurant, offering to make it come true if she will give him the talisman. When she refuses, she turns back into a frog.

Actually, at the Princess and the Frog panel at D23 Bruce Smith said that his inspirations were Soul Train, Usher and... Michael Jackson :) .

BJWay, you can turn the text white so the spoilers are better hidden.

^Thanks Amy! :D

That was the most amazing thing I've seen them add to Disneyland in years! (ok, I know the video is from Disney World but I'm assuming it'll be the same)

and I love Anika Noni Rose sang that first song. I'm assuming it's not from the movie, right? I hope they release it on one of those random Princess CDs or something. :P I tried to skip a few of the parts of the songs that I haven't heard... :lol

Great news...

I just found out that the first Costco store in Melbourne AUST. has started stocking the "Princess & the Frog" dolls, which means they'll hopefully be available in the other main outlets (Big W, Target, Kmart etc.) very, very soon! :)

If I hear correctly, "going down the bayou" are lyrics from the song "Gonna Take You There" which is featured on "The Princess and the Frog" Soundtrack. So, I don't see why that part wouldn't be in the movie. :)
I got to admit, I too am likin' the song.
Edit: Yep, just heard the clip of "Gonna Take You There" on the official Disney site and "going down the bayou" is part of that song.

I hope so too. Even better would be if they released the audio of the whole show to a CD. Disney sometimes does that, right? Of course, they do like to take their sweet old time when releasing stuff like that, right? Hehe.

I'm trying not to listen to the songs until the movie comes out, so that way I can hear them for the first time and be pleasantly surprised. :)

Yeah, but I don't think they've been doing that recently :(

We now have PATF merchandise in Target, Fred Meyer, Costco and other local stores. It seems well made and appropriate for supporting merchandise.

Meanwhile, watching some more PATF clips floating around, technically, PATF is very polished and pushes the boundary for Digitally produced traditional films.
It's also apparent PATF's borrowing from animation history:

Disney's Cinderella for the opening,
Richard William's Thief and the Cobbler for the card shuffle sequence,
Chuck Jones's "Michigan Frog" for some of Froggy's inspiration,
Disney's Sword and the Stone for the Wizard duel sequence,
Many Disney movies for hero and villain designs (yes, I see similarities),
etc..

This is not saying PATF's a ripoff. In its own unique way, PATF's tipping its hat to many other films that were liked, and all these things may in PATF form, alongside the new elements, resonate with audiences.

How is The Sword in the Stone an inspiration?

Plus, I have two others:
-When I first saw Louis in the trailer, all I could think of was the King Gator from All Dogs Go to Heaven
-Also, the shot of swirling golden water is almost a dead-on tribute to The Swan Princess
