So, today was the special presentation on The Princess and the Frog at the D23 Expo. Shown were two complete (well, fairly complete) songs and the storyboard art to one scene, which was acted out by the artist - very funny - as well as the scene where Tiana and Naveen get all tongue tied. Most of the animators were there and they did live demonstrations on drawing the characters, as well as give out little trivia info (did you know Dr Facilier is a cross between Hook and Cruella?) We saw the directors as they gave us some info about how Princess and the Frog came to be and such. Then they had autograph sessions afterward.

The songs shown were Friends on the Other Side and Mama Odie's song (I can't quite remember the title at the moment). I absolutely adored Facilier's song, it was wonderfully done and began with the "a tip of the hat from Dr. Facilier" scene to the end of the song, which by this time, Naveen has been turned into a frog. It's both dark and colorful, if that makes sense
I actually really liked Mama Odie's song too, but I just couldn't understand what she was saying except for a few lines here or there! Nevertheless, the music itself was great and its during this song where we get to see that Naveen has fallen for Tiana. One part in particular that stood out was Anika's singing, which blew me away.
Overall, everything I saw looks absolutely amazing

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it that one day, but I've heard from folks that its absolutely amazing! I have seen 3 songs from the movie though, so it kind of makes up for itPoody wrote:Did anyone here go to the 30 minute preview at the opening? Well it was amazing! Sorry if I'm not going into details at the moment, I'm in Vegas. Anika also gave an AMAZING performance!

This might be old news now, but I've been doing a lot of reading of older articles today, and I guess to clarify, in case it wasn't clarified before, the character animation was done on paper, while some (or all?) of the effects were done by computer tablet.
