Earth: in-store bonuses?

Post by Barbossa »

Anyone know if next week's release of Earth will have any in-store bonuses with it? Wal-mart? Future Shop? Zellers? Target? etc?

I just hope they don't include something stupid, kind of like that kid's watch they were giving for free when you went to see WALL-E. despite the message that was in the movie.

If a small portion of the proceeds went to the WWF, that would be cool. 8)

Or if they even included one of those environmentally friendly shopping bags (with the Earth logo) that are being sold eveywhere here in Canada now, that would be useful too.

I could see Disney adding some bonus to this one to entice those people that already have Planet Earth in their DVD collections.

Haven't seen any. I don't even think Future Shop even has a one day price for it on Tuesday, just the regular $23 price tag for the DVD version, and $30 or so for the BD/ DVD Combo.

I'm going to be shopping around on Tesday before I make my final purchase. A few weeks ago, when Race to Witch Mountain came out, I bought my copy at Walmart, but Zellers was the cheapest and had a first-week debut price of $14. I've noticed that Future Shop and HMV seem to be the most expensive. Superstore is sometimes cheaper too. Pete's Dragon was the cheapest at Superstore last week.

Walmart seems to be the only one that has an extra bonus most of the time, however, I haven't seen any lately.

I'm in search for coupons for this movie. Did Disney put up a DVD-specific website for this? I know about the DisneyNature website, I was just wondering if there is a page for the DVD release. :?

I just checked out DMR and didn't find any coupons, however, I did find this little blurb on there:
Enjoy the majesty of Disneynature: earth on Disney Blu-ray and DVD, then enter the Magic Code and earn majestic bonus points, too!**
Enter the Magic Code 9/1 - 9/7 and earn 75 bonus points.

Enter the Magic Code 9/8 - 9/22 and earn 50 bonus points.

It's a whale of an offer!

I am mad now. I entered in the code from the Earth Blu-Ray, but they did not give me my bonus points, just the standard 125 points. I wrote to them and now I have to wait a few days for a response.

Excellent! thanks jrboy, but, there is an error message appearing. I figured out why. The link you posted goes to a sent e-mail from DMR and I gues you've printed the coupon already. I checked my e-mail and I didn't get this message from DMR.

I just sent DMR a message asking if they could send me a coupon, and that it would help in these tough economic times. (well I'm unemployed right now so it ain't false :) :( )

Yeah that same coupon is on the Bluray forums and it's already been used up. I guess I'll email DMR but I really wanted to get this today!

Ya, I emailed DMR too, to see if they can send me a coupon. I went all around town today to see where it was cheaper. I couldn't find it anywhere cheaper than $22! So, I'm putting this purchase on hold until I get a coupon, because it is a bit pricey; considering it's just the movie and one bonus feature.

Surprisingly, on the shelf at Walmart beside earth, they had Aliens of the Deep and Ghosts of the Abyss, the two docs that James Cameron made and they were $9.99. I've been lookig for these for awhile and I find it funny that they had to pull them out to crosspromote with earth. I want to get them too, but money is tight. Who knows, maybe earth will eventually come down in price to $9.

Enjoy!
I just checked my e-mail again and they did send the coupon. A little late, but they did send it. So I may pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks for the coupon. With this coupon and the opening week sales, I was able to pick up the Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack (my first official Blu purchase) for a VERY reasonable $14.95. With more releases like this, I might be getting a bigger blu-ray library before I break down and by a Blu-Ray player :)

Thanks again.

I picked this up today with the $10 off coupon at Best Buy. You cannot beat that sale! To me, this comes with a free blu-ray disc lol.

I still did not upgrade to a blu-ray player yet. I guess I am not the only one here lol.

A question about the Blu-Ray combo pack...
The DVD that comes with it, does it include the bonus feature that comes with the regular DVD of the movie, or is it just the film that comes in the Blu-Ray pack?

It is a complete DVD and has all the previews and bonus features mentioned in the DVD review.

It's kind of like Matt said...it's like getting a bonus Blu Ray disc rather than the other way around.

I highly recommend this set..especially if people use the $10 coupon opening week. It is well worth it for DVD collectors who are still putting off the conversion to Blu.

Thanks for answering. I should have done this with High School Musical 3. :(

The Blu-Ray packaging is a little misleading as it just says that the included DVD just contains the film, and there's no mention of the bonus feature, if that's on the DVD as well.

The making of feature is on the DVD. Basically you are getting the DVD sold separately with a Blu-ray Disc lol.

Yup, I'm going to pick-up the Blu-Ray. It's only $3 more than the DVD at Future Shop!
Blu-Ray: $26.99 - $10 (coupon) = $16.99
DVD: $23.99 - $5 (coupon) = $18.99
Wow, first time I encountered where the Blu is cheaper than the DVD. 8)
But until I can afford the right equipment, the Blu discs will serve as nice coasters.

And I almost forgot, you get 25 more DMR points than the DVD! :D
