Oops, sorry!

I don't pay attention to this thread at all except for a couple visits, so when I saw the article at Comcast, I thought "Cool, maybe the UDers would like to read it."

I'll take it down if you want me to, pap.

Ok, I'm posting this cuz I don't recall any video game info being posted yet, but be warned that the racism issue is briefly mentioned and linked to within the article and that it's a bit cynical overall:

http://kotaku.com/5285135/the-princess- ... sney-games

But more importantly, the article includes a screencap of one of the games.

Actually, I looked back at the post and feel bad. Sorry if I sounded very harsh and angry, but like I said I tried to comment more on the film itself rather than talk about racial issues that may or may not be there and people are discussing our of sheer speculation.

Again, sorry.

Well, she looks kind of like a flapper, so it probably is Charlotte. Strange--for some reason I thought Charlotte would look like some southern belle a la Gone With The Wind.

I noticed that the one with Tiana on the trolley has Facilier in the background.
And the Train's number is different from the one in the trailer.

Wow, those stills look AMAZING. Great art direction, great character design. Am I the only one counting the minutes till this movie is released?

I really want to see a still of CHarlotte though...

Not talking about the race issue from that article but a few other points....

One critic says about the whole Princess line giving girls a false sense of reality....Really?? And what kind of reality does he think girls these days should know? To show off their T&A from MTV perhaps? They call them fairy tales for a reason...they are an ESCAPE FROM reality.

And why is there some connection between black and gators???? So because a gator is in a movie with black people...its racist? WHAT?

And the villain practices VooDoo? So what. Judge Claude Frollo wanted to make nookie with Esmeralda, where were these people to complain about that?

Lastly...So because New Orleans had a devastating and terrible tragedy, we should no longer make movies set in that city? Well, lets burn every reel of every movie made in NY too.

I just want to smack all those people.

Frankly, I don't blame them for being cynical. Many tie in games fail to be enjoyable or even memorable, despite their best efforts.

The game definitely looks a lot like the other Princess games on the Wii, PS2, DS and such. Its also funny how in the screen with Charlotte Tiana is wearing her Lily Pond dress even though she doesn't wear that till the end of the movie it seems.

As for your post about the princess line, Siren, I always find it funny how some parents are so afraid they kids will become nut jobs they will do anything to prevent it, including censoring the media their kids watch.

I grew up watching ALL of the Disney films available on Home Video. I watched cartoon featuring talking Dinosaurs, dragons, magicians, mutant turtles, super heroes, wacky cartoon animals, flying houses, ghosts, demons etc. etc. etc. I LOVED to read wacky and fantastic stories. I used to play pretend and make believe I was a hero in an epic story. And my parents didn't even censor it. And I haven't even mentioned by videogame addiction which added even MORE ideas into my mind.

Here I am at 26 I am a teacher with a lot of accomplishments and a good view on life. I watched all of the things parents are saying are now "bad" for children and I turned out fine. Meanwhile, kids who were controlled by parents grow up to become depressed, angry and mentally disturbed adults.

The key here is to leave your kid decide what he or she wants to follow, watch and pursue and they GUIDE them into it. If your little girl likes Princess stuff instead of banning that try to incorporate yourself into that activity while reminding her that the reason these princesses are beloved is because they were good people in their stories.

I think a little girl can be a princess and still be president of the supreme court. It just needs the right guidance to make it happen.

pap, whilst reading your post, I was also listening to an old 33 rpm vinyl record in the background. The song playing was "SING" by The Carpenters, which I hadn't heard before. It's a happy song. And your post felt like it was full of lovely stuff. I don't know. It felt wise, but made me happy, for some reason.

The next song is playing while I'm typing this. It's called "For All We Know". Seems to remind me of another song ...

Disneylicious has the first images of the two Princess and the Frog storybooks that will be released before the movie.

The first will be a cook book for children starring Tiana. The second one is the already confirmed book which takes place after the movie.
