Looks like you guys weren't the only ones who enjoyed the movie - opened it at #1 this past weekend, knocking off Watchmen!

jediliz - seems like you were right about fans of the original movies going to watch it too :)

And seems like Mr. Johnson is starting to be a box office draw as well....

woohoo! #1! #1!

I didn't catch the references to the old movie except the town of stoney creek and the winnebago

I can't find the code to cover the ?spoiler
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Weird question, but are there lots of shots of Las Vegas in the film? I really enjoyed the handful they put into Bolt.

Anyway, hoping to see this one soon. :)

I just got back; It was pretty good!
Honestly, after waiting about 5 months for this to come out, I was a bit disappointed with the final product.
It was, however, pretty awesome.
I, for one, was kinda pissed at the ending.... So they just go off in the space ship? Well, I mean I expected that, but it was just... weird.
Overall, it was great.
8/10
Also, anyone noticed some scenes from the trailer were NOT in the movie? The scene where Sophie [that was it, right?] was like pushing away this light thing in the trailer was missing. Gah!

Trailers are edited while the movie is edited. It happens in trailers for all sorts of films. I remember Sky High as an example.

I'll be seeing this one tomorrow, and I'm psyched! I actually saw the original film for the first time in its entirety when I bought the latest release. Yeah, it's one of those I hadn't really watched from beginning to end before. When I land both films' first DVD release (I want the galleries), I'll finally get to see the sequel too, ha. In regards to the first film (which I probably did see in a kids' matinee at the movies when I was very small, but never remembered, possibly the sequel too), I had to agree with my younger sister that the ending was a bit anticlimactic, but loved the rest of it. I suppose it would have been a fantastic ending if you went into the film not knowing the kids were aliens, but that's pretty common knowledge these days I'd wager.

Well, I just saw "Race to Witch Mountain", and it was pretty enjoyable. Lot of cute females scattered about too, he he. Even Meredith Salenger (from Journey of Natty Gann) in a cameo as a news reporter named Natalie Gann! So cool that they gave the original kids cameos too, though with the plot being so different from the original and the new kids having different names, after seeing the original stars names in the opening credits I was really hoping they'd be reprising their roles and this film was really going to turn out to be a sort of continuation. Oh, why couldn't they have done that? It wouldn't have taken any major changes at all. Even with their roles as Earthlings, they could have been aliens choosing to live among Earthlings. Anyway, they didn't go that route, and the original film may have had a more charming story, but this one was all about the action, as a true RACE to Witch Mountain. There were some plot devices, yes, that were a bit too convenient, and it was a bit weird that they were trying to get to the same place the villains were trying to take them to anyway... but all in all it was a very enjoyable popcorn film. Would have been a lot more meaningful if they had just made the slightest change to make it a continuation of the older films though... But I liked it and got to see it for free, ha. Too bad no Disney Store action figures for this one. Unless I haven't seen them yet... Now that I think about it, I haven't been to our main Disney Store in a while, just an outlet one.

Well, I guess I will be the detractor here about "Race To Witch Mountain". As my wife put it as we were walking out of the theater with our three oldest grandkids (12, 11, 10), "there's an hour and a half of my life totally wasted".

The grandkids agreed. They much prefer watching the original "Escape" and "Return" Witch Mountain movies. I will have to agree. The Rock was disappointing and looked very uncomfortable in his role. He was not the same personality as he was in "Game Plan". This film looks like they told him he couldn't smile, or use any of the expressions he used on WWE, and that is part of his personality.

The movie was sluggish, to the point of me almost dozing off. It had no excitement, and the action was very slow and not enough of it to go around.

In the theater I saw it in, there was a very small crowd. The theater holds about 800 people and I would say it was less than half full, and this was on a Friday night of opening weekend.

I WILL NOT be getting this on DVD or Blu-Ray, that is for sure.

:D
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

I went to it over the weekend....and I fell asleep during the first 30 minutes until the end of the movie.....now that's not because I didn't like it.....it's because I have been so exahausted from being sick from my "Microscoptic Colitis" that I guess a nice stadium seating put me to sleep....I watched all up to the don't go into the fridge part and after that my dad was waking me up telling me it was over.....so I was so mad at myself luckily my dad has the day off tomorrow so I am going to go try to see it again......

So I'll let you all know my opinion of the movie after I see it in it from start to finish.....

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and so did my dad, who went with me to see it. He's seen the originals while I haven't, but now I really want to buy them after watching this. I'll definitely be picking up the DVD once it's out! And hopefully between now and then I can get the originals as well to add to my Disney DVD collection. :)
