The scene was probably considered, then cut.

Back to the "jerk" Pinocchio, I like that the movie did not portray him like that. It's more logical, the way the film portrayed him as innocent. After all, bad people aren't born bad. They learn to be bad, just as good people learn to be good.

In all the cut scenes, does anyone know who does the voice of Geppetto (like in the extended scene of Geppetto inside the whale)?

They could have gotten the same replacement that was used for "Kingdom Hearts". I can't remember the name, but it's possible.

Well, the voice of Geppetto in Kingdom Hearts was Tony Pope, but he passed away in 2004. That's why I asked.

Oh, now that changes things. Oddly, without knowing it, I suspected something happened to him.

I'm almost positive it's Corey Burton. The Geppetto in those scenes sounds like a modified Ludwig Von Drake, and Burton is the current voice for that character.

You know, it could also be Jeff Glen Bennett.

I found the commentray track to be very informative. There is overlap with the 'Making of', and in the end the three speakers run out of things to say, but overall a nice commentary. A lot better than those for The Jungle Book and Sleepin Beauty. They pointed out the continuity goofs with Gepetto's sleeping hat (it disappears and reappears constantly) when Pinocchio's finger is on fire. Will you believe me when I say I never noticed that? That's how strong the story and character acting is.

I believe you. I never noticed that until now either.

I'm glad that they made Pinocchio more innocent, too. If they kept him as more of a wise guy, the audience probably wouldn't feel that he deserved to become a real boy.

Well, there was no need to make Pinocchio a jerk when Jiminy was a big enough jerk already. While watching the Blu-Ray today, I was shocked to discover his dark side :o. Though it's interesting to note, even under the influence, he still seems to speak in Ye Olde Disney :P.

After watchin Pinocchio for the 2nd time, I noticed that Monstro actualy has eyes...I know this may seem nothing but I'm near sighted and even when I watched the whole "Whale chase" sequence I never noticed that Monstro had eyes till now... Unbelievable all I remember from watchin that sequence was this big black thing that was a whale just wanting to destory Pinocchio's group.

I truely enjoy that sequence, the staging, the reaction and the power of Monstro's character, you feel his weight crushin along the waves.

I watched Pinocchio probably a hundred times as a kid. It was one we rented constantly. This set is fantastic, BUT...

I did noticed the missing lines immediately. I wasn't even aware of them. I've just watched/heard the film so many times, it was very noticeable that they were missing. Unless somehow those lines were never intended to be there and were in previous home video versions by mistake, I hope Disney provides replacements.

Otherwise, this is an outstanding release all around of one of my all-time favorite films.

About two weeks ago, I finally got my hands on a Platinum Edition DVD release of "Pinocchio" and it is awesome, the colors are great and the sound was nice and crisp and clear as crystal. That Platinum Edition beats my VHS tape from 1992 to death. This has got to be my all-time favorite as a kid going back to when I was an infant when my parents took me to the movies to see the first Disney film I ever saw since it was originally from 1940, but it was re-released in 1978. Lots of great memories of remember this one unforgettable film. Prior to the "Pinocchio", I saw "The Small One" for the first time on the big screen. I missed a few minutes into the movie since I first arrived.

Great addition to my Disney DVD collection. The first thing I can do is watch "The Small One" first, and then watch "Pinocchio" and these films bringing back some great memories of watching it since I was an infant.

So I see Marky finally gave up. I don't know whether to be joyous or feel sorry for him.

Don't say that. He'll hear you and rise from the depths.

Well, I've said everything that needed to be said. :)

Still have the same opinion, still find the tampering unacceptable, and it seems that many other people are disappointed too.

But if you miss the discussions, I'd be glad to go on for a while....;)
