http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html#120308We've also been hearing recently that the folks at Disney and Pixar are already hard at work on the eventual Blu-ray releases of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 (possibly due in late 2009, but more likely 2010), which are designed be part of the build-up to the theatrical release of Toy Story 3 in 2010.

I kind of actually hope they wait till Toy Story 3's released to Blu-ray to come out with the box set. It'd be strange having the first two in a nice box and the third by itself. Of course, they could always release a box set of the first two around the time the third hits theaters, then another set with all three for Christmas.
I, personally, am still wondering when the heck we're getting Monsters, Inc on BD. I think MI would be a good candidate for next year (perhaps a cross-promotion with the rumored Nemo disc coming?), especially since Up is by the same director, Pete Doctor.

Well may be it'll be like the pirates set, in which the three movies are in a box, but they each have individual packaging, if the toy story set is like that
when you buy the third movie you get rid of the box. And I had understood the three would be released at the same time.
Disney could definitely release them separately too, they've done it before

Man, I cant wait. Id love a box set of all 3 on blu ray in a box set, but chances are I'll cave and buy the first option that becomes available and probably rebuy if they add anything exclusive to the box set.
Ive rebought these moves more than anything I own. I have the VHS, the bare bones 2 pak, the ultimate toy box, the anniversary editions, and soon enough the blu rays. haha that's a lot of toy storys.
its a great time to be a toy story fan in 2009-2010. you got the blu ray releases, the theatrical releases in Disney digital 3d, and on top of all that, Toy Story 3.

I was disappointed with the Pirates Trilogy on Blu-Ray. The packaging could have been a lot better and feel more like a set rather than just 3 movies packaged together. Any way, I hope they fix this with Toy Story.
When are we going to get our Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Monster's Inc, and A Bug's Life on Blu-Ray? We're waiting Disney!

its a shame they missed the opportunity this year to put out a 10th aniversery edition of a bugs life. this year would have been the perfect time to release that one one on blu ray.
and nemo should be the next one. it was supposed to come out this year but I guess it'll be next year instead.
and while this isnt blu ray related, they recently showed the Incredibles on NBC, and while I dont have an HD tv, I believe it was a high def transfer. if I had room on my DRV I would have recorded it ot watch later once I get an HD set later this month.
I wonder if they'll play any of their older movies in high def soon. that would be awesome. at least hold me over until the blu rays start to hit.

Get ready for this...news is out about the whole 3D, DVD and Blu-Ray for the whole Toy Story!
Interesting: only the first movie will get to be 3D on dvd and blu-ray?
Oh, and Kyle: There's a new line of toys coming out this summer!
And does anyone know what PR stands for? Press Release?

You would have had to record from the HD version of the NBC channel (cable/satellite), and use a HD DVR. Or record the over the air digital signal to a HD DVR. Recording it from the regular NBC channel, or to a regular DVR would still record it in standard definition (480i).Kyle wrote: and while this isnt blu ray related, they recently showed the Incredibles on NBC, and while I dont have an HD tv, I believe it was a high def transfer. if I had room on my DRV I would have recorded it ot watch later once I get an HD set later this month.
Anyway I think we might see them a few months before Toy Story 3, then eventually they will be packaged together similar to the Pirates box set.
yup, just read all this news yesterday. (came here to post but of course was beaten to it)magicalwands wrote: Oh, and Kyle: There's a new line of toys coming out this summer!
Glad to see we'll get new toys this summer. I thought I'd have to wait another year for it. I now have a buzz, but I didn't find out until I opened it that its missing one important feature of the original (to me), the wrist communicator. talk about false advertising. "original Buzz Lightyear" my butt. ahh well, it was only 7 bucks. at least now I'll be able to get a new one this summer. fingers crossed its the best version of him ever released. (same goes for woody)
I have an HD dvr and HD NBC. I could watch and record HD programing just fine, just no HD set to display it on. however I have since gotten a 720p 50 inch set. but like I said in my last post, I didn't have room on it at the time. and I also have no way of transferring it to the computer. at least I don't think. I wish it was as simple as putting it on an SD card or something to spread the wealth...DarthPrime wrote:You would have had to record from the HD version of the NBC channel (cable/satellite), and use a HD DVR. but yeah, now I just wish they'd air it again in HD, so I could watch it with my new set.

If they ever show one of the Pixar movies on broadcast channels again, someone let me know...
I have a TV tuner and TSReader, so I can literally make bit-for-bit rips of the over the air HD. And for NBC that means 1080i, which is almost as good as 1080p if your TV's any good at deinterlacing.

Howard Ashman:
He gave a mermaid her voice, a beast his soul, and Arabs something to complain about
Arabian Nights (Unedited)
Savages (Uncensored)
If it ain't OTV, it ain't worth anything!

Well, A Bug's Life and Monsters Inc. come out this year. I don't think they'll release The Incredibles until Brad Bird's next film is released which will be 2011.
All I know is that they'll probably render Toy Story 1 and 2 all over again considering that the originals were rendered at 720 lines of resolution. I'm sure they'll want to get a 1080p picture for the Blu-Ray release.

Well I would imagine that PR does stand for Press Release....
Also It says that in that Press Release that Toy Story will hit Blu Ray in the Spring of I suppose 2010
and Toy Story 2 will hit shelves in the Summer
and then Toy Story 3 will hit shelves in the Fall/Winter all in 2010....I imagine a box set will come of the trilogy when all 3 films are released to DVD and Blu Ray...

speaking of toys...
Some pics of the upcoming toy line from Matel.

Not a fan of their buzz and woody's (though the sylized ones are intresting for a change), hopeuflly thinkway will be coming out with a line, their toys were always better. I do like the sid's mutated toy and the muscle guy. I dont think these ever got a figure before.

Until then, we'll have to marvel at how marvelous they'll look with the clips from "The Pixar Story" on the Wall-E Blu disc. Looking good!LeHobbit wrote:It's official that the three Toy Story will come on Blu-ray in 2010.geniuswalt wrote:I think it's highly unlikely that Toy Story will come out on DVD/Bluray this year since it will be released to theaters worldwide this coming October. I was totally surprised by that as well. I knew it would be an improvement, but the difference was enormous. The PQ improvement was bigger on A Bug's Life, I thought, but we're getting that one this yearajmrowland wrote:
