Disney’s <b>TEACHER’S PET</b> is the hysterical tale of “Spot” (Nathan Lane), a talking canine whose
ultimate wish is to become “a real boy.” Opportunity knocks, but it’s through the DNA manipulations of
wacko scientist Dr. Ivan Krank (Kelsey Grammer). Spot quickly follows his best friend and master,
Leonard (Shaun Flemming) and their mother/fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Helperman (Debra Jo Rupp) to
Florida in order to make the evolution to human form. However, as Dr. Krank’s experiments have
produced some hilarious accidents such as Mosquito Girl (Megan Mullally) and Alligator Boy (Paul
Reubens), Spot’s transformation to human is not completely correct. It’ll take his best buddy Leonard
and his quirky pet pals - a cat named Mr. Jolly (David Ogden Stiers) and a boisterous bird named Pretty
Boy (Jerry Stiller) - to help Spot out.

<b>TEACHER’S PET</b> also stars Jay Thomas as schlock show host Barry Anger and Estelle Harris as nearsighted
pet sitter Mrs. Boogin. Rob Paulsen (TV’s “Pinky and the Brain”) supplies the voice of know-itall
classmate Ian Wazselewski, and Wallace Shawn (“Toy Story” & “Toy Story 2”) portrays the catloving,
autocratic Principal Strickler.

Nathan Lane and his fellow cast members shine in performing eleven songs for <b>TEACHER’S PET</b>. “I
Wanna Be A Boy” is a show-stopping opening number that thoroughly explains the backstory of the film
in three hysterical, maniac minutes. “A Boy Needs A Dog” gives the filmmakers a chance to spoof some
of those classic Disney song moments where woodland animals gather around; “A Whole Bunch of
World,” arguably the most ambitious musical number in the entire production, is a rapid-fire musical
number that lists and give some details of all 50 states -in alphabetical order! Kelsey Grammer
commands the screen – with an assist from some delightfully witty visuals - in the presentation of the
tango-esque “I, Ivan Krank.” There’s also “‘I’m Movin’ On,’ a terrific, big production number, and the
Stiller and Stiers “duet” “Small But Mighty” among others.

Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano, best known to audiences as Ren on TV’s “Even Stevens”
and as the voice of Disney’s Kim Possible, adds her vocal stylings to the end credit song – a snappy,
pop/rock rendition of the Doris Day standard, “Teacher’s Pet.” The exciting music video for this song is
included on the DVD.

On the contary Jake, Teachers Pet got overall very good reviews. A quick random read of reviews on the web show mostly positive. RottenTomatoes gives it a 76% fresh rating, which is greater than Brother Bear (39%) for example.

No. Well, there's no better reviewer for yourself than yourself. No critical review can be taken as gospel, no matter who the reviewer is.

But you can see from the quotes on the RottenTomatoes page, it did well with most critics. I think Teacher's Pet did OK when it came to the reviews because most weren't expecting much, so came out pleasently surprised.

Well I suppose you saw it then. And yet you're going to rent it to see it again even though it was that bad? That seems odd.

Or maybe you didn't see it and are just assuming it's bad. But then that's just stupid.

As for who's going to buy this one, I'd guess people who enjoyed the TV show, people whose children who enjoyed the TV show, people who enjoyed the film upon seeing it in theaters, and people who try to collect as many Disney DVDs as possible. Of course you could always start a thread in Polls & Games asking "whos going to buy teachers Pet" with the options "yes" and "no" if you're interested in finding who among this community of Disney DVD enthusiasts will be buying it.

Wow. Your omniscient powers are impressive, but your inability to resist purchasing a movie accompanied by a disc of bonus features is fascinating. You would actually buy a movie you know to be horrible (knowledge, that, naturally, comes without actually seeing the movie) just because there was a second disc? If Disney finds out about this, they could really capitalize on the Must-Buy-Multidisc-Sets demographic!

anyway.. being in the minority of not only those on this board, but also those living.. I am one of the few walking, crawling, breathing creatures on earth that has seen this film..and needless to say.. it is amazing... ok, maybe not amazing.. but DAMN GOOD. The critical response is what drew me to go see this film and the critics were 100% right, it is VERY, VERY good.. it does have its faults, but is ten fold better than anything disney animation has done in years, pixar withstanding.

I really blame the sucess, or lack thereof, on disney marketing... for example.. how many disney movies that have come out in the past, oh say 10 years, have come out with no toys.?? or any marketable merchandise?? I cant think of any? Even the veritable stinker that was Treasure Planet had its share of action figures and knick knacks.... go to disneystore.com and type in treasure planet and see if anything but asoundtrack comes up.. go to ebay for that matter..

It is shame that disney didnt hype this movie more, asi t could truly have been groundbreaking.

I too have seen this film and also liked it a lot. The animation takes some getting used to and the story is nothing new, but this movie is very intertaining, especially if you are a true Disney fan. There are references to classic Disney films throughout the film, so even if nothing else in the film appeals to you, there is at least something to keep you watching. I was never really a fan of the show(although I have never seen a whole episode) and I felt the movie was good enough to buy. At least rent it before you bash it.

I applaud you, up until the "know I won't like it" part. I understand being turned off by a movie's appearance sometimes, and it's ok to have low expectations (that someitmes makes you like it even more), but just try to keep an open mind.

Don't feel like you have to see it though. If you don't want to, that's fine, but just don't say it's horrible until you do.
