RIP Robert F. Brunner

Post by disneyfella »

Sadly this goes unnoticed. This man contributed more to Disney in the 1960s and 1970s than almost anyone else. Mr. Brunner's passing a few weeks ago from stroke complications seems to have slipped past the people at Disney who have already moved on with the company and forgotten so many who gave their lives to its history. Mr. Brunner was not a famous man, nor did he seek the limelight. However, his work is that of a humble artist who indelibly left his fingerprint on the Disney catalog. Mr. Brunner is responsible for scoring the following Disney films:

The Misadventures of Merlin Jones
A Tiger Walks
That Darn Cat!
Lt. Robin Crusoe, U.S.N.
Monkey's, Go Home!
Blackbeard's Ghost
Never a Dull Moment
Smith!
Secrets of the Pirates Inn
The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes
Smoke
The Boatniks (he also wrote the title song "Boatniks")
Wild Country
The Barefoot Executive (he also wrote the title song "He's Gonna Make It")
The Biscuit Eater
Now You See Him, Now You Don't
The Black Leopard of Ceylon
Snowball Express
The Whiz Kid and the Mystery at Riverton
The Castaway Cowboy
The Strongest Man in the World
Gus
The Mousketeers at Walt Disney World
The Young Runaways
The Small One
The North Avenue Irregulars
Amy (he also wrote the title song "So Many Ways")

Mr. Brunner you will be sorely missed.
"It's Kind Of Fun To Do The Impossible"
- Walt Disney

Sad news indeed.

I feel bad now whenever I make fun of the title song for The Boatniks.

*deep baritone voice*

Boat-niks...

*normal voice*

See?

I did like the song he wrote for The Barefoot Executive, though.

May he rest in peace. I've seen a number of those films and appreciated or at least noticed their scores.

And I just watched Blackbeard's Ghost last night.

A real unfortunate loss, and I hope that Mr. Brunner rests in peace.

Oh, and "He's Gonna Make It" will forever remain a classic.
