I don't know why they bothered having a thick gatefold case inside the tin, when inside they stacked the DVDs. The packaging seems to have gotten a little worse with each consecutive wave ... is it too much to ask that we have some uniformity with series DVDs?? Oh well ... can't wait to watch these!

Gah; don't suggest that!! The thickness of the cases is the only thing that's keeping the uniformity across the waves - it'd be a disaster if they changed that element! I can live with changes inside the plastic case, however annoying, as long as the outer plastic looks the same!

Regarding the packaging, I believe this is also the first time the Treasures have used that semi-clear labeling on the discs themselves.

I wouldn't call 10 to 15 years "anytime soon". But as the electronics industry these days is built around getting people to buy new equipment/etc., eventually the HD standard will need to be replaced. 1.85:1 4k is 3996 × 2160, and I really can't see the industry choosing a resolution between that and 1920x1080 instead; it wouldn't make any sense, and it wouldn't be a significant enough improvement for everyone to go out and buy another round of TVs costing thousands of dollars.

I agree that a 2k home format would offer little improvement over 1080; there's evidence that a quality BD encode is practically indistinguishable from 2k theatrical digital distribution, <i>even on a cinema-sized screen</i>.

Which is precisely why I doubt we'll see much of a move to a 4k home format. To appreciate the gain in resolution it seems you'd need a much larger screen than most home environments can house.

There are higher-resolution displays available and in the pipeline, and 4k is on its way to becoming more standard for theatrical films---Sony recently announced they're beginning to adopt 4k through the entire workflow from capture to post to distrubution. But I don't think there's going to be a move to widespread adoption of new hardware without content, and I don't think the studios are going to want to sell their properties at the same resolution as their HD masters. Even if they did, I think it's highly unlikely the <i>broadcast</i> industry is going to turn around and adopt 4k in 10-15 years: besides having to upgrade the infrastructure, there's only so much over-the-air broadcast bandwidth to go around, and higher resolution would be a tough sell to the public if its benefits are only available for a portion of their viewing.

I think it's more likely that the next generation of home media won't be based on an upgrade in presentation, but instead focus on removing physical media from the equation. HD digital downloads are already here, sort of, but they're more compressed than BD, they don't include high resolution audio, and they're rapidly becoming a less attractive alternative every day as more and more ISPs institute download caps (buy too many HD downloads and you'll have to pay twice: once for the content and again for busting your ISP's cap). Perhaps in 10 years they'll have addressed those shortcomings?

Just got my DD volume 4. I am so happy that we got this last wave to complete most of the animated shorts. The only thing that could have made this better is if they included the three chip and dale shorts on the set, like they did with the Pluto cartoons on the Pluto set. But hey, what can you do.

I received my three Treasures sets on 12 November. The Donsld Duck set was my favorite. It's nice to have some of my fave Donald toons in DVD quality picture and sound.

I'm glad to have the Annette set, but mainly just to replace the VHS copy I had from the Disney Channel years ago.

The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh didn't interest me when I watched it on the Disney Channel back in the 1980s, but I might get more entertainment from it now.

I don't have much hope for future Waves of the Treasures, but I am thrilled to own the 28 sets that have been released since 2001. I was thrilled when the series was first announced and these sets have been my number one anticipated release each year.

I would love some sets of the Walt Disney "Wonderful World of Disney" type TV shows, the remaining missing theatrical cartoons, and any commercial / public service / training / educational shorts Disney is willing to release.

But, if 28 sets is ALL THERE IS, I am thrilled with what has been released.

DID ANYONE NOTICE ANY EASTER EGGS? I checked the discs of all three sets thoroughly and didn't notice any Easter Eggs.

I think the 4 is the last if there would be 5 then what a set of two 1965 shorts Donald's Fire Survival Plan, Steel and America, and the 1967 educational short family planing (Im not sure if this cartoon realy exsist). and one finnished shorts?

Picked them up today for a great deal.

Best Buy had them 2 for $40.

I got DDv4 and Dr. Syn.

Used a BB $10 Reward and got them for $15 apiece and still got $30 in additional reward points. Great deal. Couldn't pass it up.

Anyway, Heil Donald already answered the question, and I don't think there will be another Donald set. Unless, of course, they wanna release a few more Donald-focused episodes of "Disneyland" not yet on Treasures ("The Donald Duck Story", "Your Host, Donald Duck", "Donald's Award", "Duck for Hire", "This Is Your Life, Donald Duck", "Donald's Silver Anniversary", "Inside Donald Duck"), even if some of them are just clip shows. Plus, there's the reconstruction of "Caxanga" that could be included since Disney decided not to include it, or any other laserdisc material on Classic Caballeros Collection.

Are the Cinemascope Donald shorts anamorphic encoded? So it's said in the dvdtalk review. I hoped that's true

Yes, all of the Cinemascope Donald shorts are anamorphic encoded. They look marvelous on my 15' Home Theater screen, and look just as good on our JVC 56" monitor upstairs. I am very pleased with what Disney did with the Donald Duck and Chip 'n' Dale Cinemascope shorts. My faith in Disney has been restored with this collection.

Also very happy to see Dr. Syn has been restored and is in anamorphic widescreen!! That really made my day complete.

Ugh, my Donald and Annette sets came in the mail today from Best Buy(don't have one in a 2 hour radius around me and it was by far the cheapest option since I only wanted 2 of the 3 sets) and the the Annette tin has a huge dent in the front of the tin. I usually don't mind minor dents, but this one is so severe that the case inside can't even move when you give it a little shake. Ugh! This is the set that I wanted to chill out w/and watch all day today.

I just watched the deleted Trouble Shooter short on Donald Duck Vol. 4 and I really enjoyed the story, would've been a classic Donald cartoon, wonder why Walt didn't green light the project.

You don't watch the tin, you put the disc on your player, silly...............LOL!!!

Nobody can see your tin when it is on the shelf, and I have never seen a perfect tin in all of the Waves anyway, but as long as the discs inside are good, then I am happy.
