Is Walmart the only store with a special edition soundtrack? I got my HSM2 soundtrack from them because it came with the bonus DVD, and I'm probably going to do the same for HSM3. I was just wondering if anyone knows of another place with a special edition soundtrack.
Disney on Broadway:
Beauty and the Beast - December 2, 2006
The Lion King - February 28, 2007 & February 16, 2008
The Little Mermaid - December 12, 2007, December 22, 2007 & January 7, 2009
Mary Poppins - February 1, 2009

I'm pretty sure that all the retailers have the Special Edition soundtrack. I know for a fact that Target has it. I just checked- BestBuy.com shows it, so, yeah, all the major retailers should have it.

On Rotten Tomatoes, it's at 64% and :

Reviews Counted: 14
Fresh: 9
Rotten:5
Average Rating: 5.7/10

How many people who voted on IMDB actually have seen the movie? It doesn't even come out until tomorrow!!!

Like this one Rotten Tomatoes reviewer said:
"Whatever the flaws, it's lively and colorful enough to satisfy the target audience as a fitting close to the ultra-popular series."

HSM is so huge because of its fan-base, not because of its high critical praise. The fans will love it, and the fans will give Disney their money. That's all that matters.

you mean all those Batman fans who give it a 1 eventhough they have probaply never even watched the Disney Channel for more than 10 seconds? They don't understand that mainstream films also include children's entertainment and not just superhero flicks catering to their sad fanboy fantasies.

the Rotten tomatoes rating is in the 60s right now, with 14 reviews counted. Wich means it probaply won't dip below 50% when all is said and done.

In short, an above average RT rating doesn't equal a 2.5 IMDB rating. It doesn't even come close to being Bottom 100 material

Here's the thing about rating a movie these days;
people are so ignorant that they will judge a movie by the actors that appear in it,if it's a sequel to something good or bad, an adaptation to
something good or bad, the director, the studio, etc. Wether they judge the film negatively or positively based on these facts it's still very wrong.

Example, I have yet to see I Know Who Killed Me but I know for a fact there were far worse movies and did not deserve all those razzies,
Lindsay Lohan is not a bad actress, she might not be an extrrememly good one but just because she's a hot mess doesn't mean she's bad.

Another Example, all these people (mainly pre-teen girls) think Miley Cyrus is the best actress ever, or that all these DCOMs are oscar worthy... see what I'm getting at?

The people who rated the movie with low scores are probably people who are tired of the HSM franchise. This is no reason to say a movie is bad.
Kenny Ortega is amazing at what he does, he's really creative and fun, I doubt he'll make a bad movie.
I'll agree if Rotten Tomatoes gives this a very low score, though the movie is far from fresh.

I'm very very excited to see thre 3rd one.

I loved the 1st one and the 2nd one is good too. I've already listened to the new soundtrack a few times, I'm pumped lol!

I only hope that they don't distort the sound during the songs like they did in the 2nd one! >_<
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

But I meant the version sung by the cast.
This one:

EDIT: I just found this on wikipedia:
Last Chance is a song performed by the cast of High School Musical 3: Senior Year and was set to be included on the official tracklist of the album. A preview of the song leaked and a ballad version was performed by Lucas Grabeel and Olesya Rulin in the track "Senior Year Spring Medley". The song was removed from all the versions of the soundtracks for unknown reasons.

Yeah, Ryan & Kelsi's ballad version is what's a part of the medley "Senior Year Spring Musical" on the soundtrack.

That Wikipedia quote says that it was supposed to be on the soundtrack, but not in the movie- was it to be like "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" on the first soundtrack, how it's on the soundtrack but not in the movie? Or was it supposed to be in the movie but cut?

I'm leaving in an hour & a half to see the movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm beyond excited!!! I'm honestly just as excited to see HSM3 as I am before a Jonas Brothers concert, lol. I can't WAIT!!! :pink: :pink: :pink:

Nope, the actress who played her in the first movie is credited for the third movie. :)

HSM is so huge because of its fan-base, not because of its high critical praise. The fans will love it, and the fans will give Disney their money. That's all that matters.
I've always believed that there are two types of movies in existence: movies for the general audiences and movies for a specific fanbase.

The latter are made strictly for fans of a series. For example, movies like "Transformers (The animated movie), "Pokemon", "Power Rangers" etc. are made to capitalize on the popularity of the franchise as well as develop the storylines for either a continuation of the series or a re-imagining. These movies tend to do VERY bad with critics and the general audience because they lack the knowledge to understand what the hoopla is all about.

To Pokemon fans, they see grandiose Pokemon battles the likes the series will never see. To a critic, they just see annoying characters battling for no real reason.

I believe HSM3 fits into this category well. It follows a storyline and hopes to conclude it. It will have many fanservice elements and everything is a big love letter to the franchise and the fans that have followed it. OF COURSE critics will bash it because it was a movie made with the fans in mind first.

Of course, this doesn't mean that fan movies can't become movies the general audiences enjoys. For example, I would say superhero movies started out as fan movies (such as the infamous Captain America movie), but thanks to both Burton's "Batman" movies and the Marvel movies they are now part of the mainstream.

So no one should be upset that HSM3 is getting bad reviews. Its to be expected.

:light spoilres:

I saw it! it really was worth the big screen. they tried to push some of the musical numbers down our throats but they were very good songs. It was a real treat for the fans. There were actually kids there, their moms must have taken them out of school to avoid the whole weekend, they screamed when it started, cheered after the numbers, and stood up when it ended--and of course i thought that was ridiculous but at times i felt like doing the same. I was disappointed since Sharpay was hardly in the movie, but I was glad the new characters weren't there too much (annoying and confusing as of why they got a dimwitted boy to dress like an emo wannabe). The movie could very well conclude everyone's story but of course leaving a tiny gap for a sequel regarding the new characters and Sharpay. The numbers were good, especially the ones with fun songs( I Want it All and Night to Remember) and I liked what they did with the prom scene. Critics have no good reason to say it's a bad movie. The ending was very sweet and the High School Musical number was kind of a mix of choreographies of the passed movies but not being obvious. I'm really happy with the movie, they did try a bit too hard but the last numbers made everything over the top without being obnoxious. Very well done.

I just got back, I loved it! It was definitely so much better than the 2nd one, and just as good as (if not better than) the 1st one!

The crowd in my theater was really into it too, although a little bit obnoxious (in that "high school/middle school" way). All the girls were screaming whenever Zac Efron took his shirt off or they did a close-up on him xD (of course I was screaming on the inside every time the gorgeous Vanessa Hudgens was on the screen   ).

The songs were great and it was nice to see what they "looked like" (since I had only listened to them on the soundtrack for the past couple of days :P ). Kenny Ortega is a fantastic choreographer and did a great job for this movie. (TBQH I think he's the reason why Cheetah Girls 2 is the best of those movies).

Overall I thought it was a very good movie and I'm so glad it came out in theaters!

Mall Cop
Tales Of Despereaux
Coraline
Bedtime Stories
17, Again
And a special High School Musical featurette for Bolt (featuring the Hamster singing songs from the previous films, followed by the regular trailer)

They also showed a sneak peek of Bolt before the trailers started. The scene with the pigeons from the trailer

Anyway... the movie was good ! Definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of the previous 2. My only complaint... I feel like Ashley Tisdale wasn't represented very well in this film, her part seemed much smaller.

The Boys Are Back, I Want It All and Scream were the best numbers for sure !

I absolutely ADORED HSM3!!! It was amazing. I don't have a favorite of the whole series, though- I love all 3 movies.

There weren't that many people there when I saw it, since I saw it at noon on a school day. I took my friends' 3 girls (ages 13, 11, and 8 ), and besides a man or 2 laughing (lol, yes, men), we were the most vocal.

I definitely agree with rexcrk- it was nice to see what the songs "looked" like, and I was happily surprised with how they "looked", since I had no idea what most of the scenes would be like when just listening to the soundtrack.

My eyes got teary-eyed during Troy's song "Scream"- I mean, I listened to it on the soundtrack many times prior to seeing the film, but I could REALLY, REALLY relate to the whole scene...I felt very similarly to how he did when I was that age.

I already knew that Corbin Bleu is an amazing dancer, but seeing him on the big screen was just like, Whoa, he is SUCH a great dancer. (And he's not bad to look at on the big screen.) The choreography was top-notch. I just loved everything about the movie.

I cried at the end. I kind of bawled. I was sad to see it over. Not just the movie being over, but for the senior Wildcats to be (pretty much) done with the franchise. I just love the HSM movies so much, and I'm proud of all that they have done and I'm proud of them "graduating".

A+++++++++!!!!!!!

I cried a little bit towards the end lol, pretty much right at the part when Troy was saying he was gonna go to a school that was close to Gabriella's.

Oh yeah and the young girls in my theater loved the "Scream" number (I actually thought it looked like an anti-drug commercial at that part when the hallway was spinning   )

A few complaints:

Taylor should have been valedectorian (sp?)
Sharpay should have gone to Julliard.
Zac Efron pole dance - .....uhm..wtf? :?
