Walt Disney Treasures Wave VIII Discussion

I have to admit I'm quite sad that they chose to fill up the extra disc space with Mouseworks shorts, instead of giving that room over to the later Donald educational shorts such as 'Donald and the Wheel' etc. As it doesn't look like they will be on this disc at all.

Oh well I'll pray for a Wave 9, featuring these, plus of course the Goofy stuff that was missed along with Scrooge Mc Duck and Money and of course perhaps a disc full of the Jiminy Cricket shorts.

Oh well, I can at least pray.

I still plan on buying Chronological Donald Volume 4. I hope it is not sold out by the time I buy it.

Perhaps they're really considering an Educational Shorts treasures set.

I'm a bit upset at the inclusion of Mouseworks shorts too, but only because I'd rather have a regular release for it (well, "House of Mouse") instead of being trapped in the Treasures.

At the same time, of course, I'd rather all the Treasures content not have a limited print run. Especially since Warner pretty much does the same (well, with their cartoons) in Golden Collection and those aren't limited to 50,000 copies for only a year.

They should have put upp those Chip an' Dale shorts rather than Mousework some shorts since there will never been enough materal to gave us 2 disc set with those two guys. If those shorts are totally skiped then they could other wise be considering another rarites set. There still few none educational shorts left that isn't cuts from original feature films.

Because of this I was able to pick up LTGC sets nr 3, 4, 5, this year and I not worried over set nr 6 becuse of there is no limit run.
However because of the limit run im more vorrried over the 4th Donald set because of the Econmic crisis and the collslape of Icelandic currency.

Mouseworks Cartoons

Where Mouseworks Cartoons are concerned, we could be just looking at the "Donald's Dynamite" gag shorts (in which Donald tries vainly to get rid of a bomb).

I have a feeling that this set will continue to use the From the Vault moniker for the more questionable shorts. Three of them to be in the FTV section are:

UNCLE DONALD'S ANTS (1952; the native stereotypical portrayals of the ants; on the third volume, Tea For Two Hundred was relegated to the FTV sections for the same reasons)
RUGGED BEAR (1953; Donald pretending to fire the gun and leveling at Humphrey's face playfully)
SPARE THE ROD (1954; Pygmy cannibals)

I'm guessing he'll be in the history of the scarecrow featuette instead of a stand alone interview I (and others) initially thought. I could be wrong though (and hoping I am!)

I was really hoping that they would include the three Chip & Dale shorts, like they did with Figaro on the Pluto set....

Personally I have not been a fan of cartoons that weren't theatrically released.

Obviously the Annette Volume is the one Im most looking forward to but I PreOrdered all 3 new volumes.

I may be wrong, but I don't recall the press release for Pluto Volume II listing the three Figaro cartoons as bonus features. I think they were included as part of the main material. So I don't think this latest press release means that the three Chip 'n' Dale cartoons won't be included. Of course, that may just be me holding out hope.

Well we dont have much longer to wait for the new wave of Disney Treasures! When do you think the ppl who write the reviews on Ultimate Disney will start releasing their reviews of each volume. It soundnt be too much longer should it?

Also..... Has anyone ever seen the very last episode of the Mickey Mouse Club???? Im really excited to hear that the final episode will be included in its complete form on the Annette volume. I dont believe iv ever seen it! In interviews former mouseketeers have talked about what a SAD and devistating day that was when they wrapped up the show and filmed that final episode.

OHHHHHHHHHH you may be right!!! I guess I just assumed that since the Annette serial was aired during the final season of the MMC that it would have been a part of the final episode of the MMC series.

The Treasures tend to be sent to reviewers later than your usual DVD title, perhaps because they're being worked on and pressed right up to production. I'll try my best to be both timely and thorough, but that's a particularly difficult combo when handling 3 big sets probably no sooner than a week before release.
