Does anyone else think this is false advertising? The latest mailing
advertises The Nightmare Before Christmas deluxe set for $149.95, and
on sale at 50%, for $74.98. The thing is, before you can get the 50% off,
you have to buy 1 item at $149.95 or higher. The problem is that there are
no other items at that price. I called and asked them what I could buy to get
it at their advertised sale price, and they told me that I would have to buy 2
of them, 1 at full price and the second at half price. Is that stupid, or what?
I wonder how many of them they are really going to sell for that deal.

This is a bit off-topic but... I've seen ad for $500 of free gas if you spend $999 at some store. It's exactly like this Nightmare deal. If you're willing to spend $1000, you could buy the free amount of gas two times over.
Question about the Nightmare deal: could you buy multiple items at a total of $150? That would make more sense.

Bobby: Hmm... did you ever wonder why we like... always wear gloves?

No, you can't. I guess you didn't read the part where I said you have to buy 1 item at $149.95 or higher before you get that set for $75. The only thing they have at this price is the Nightmare set, so you HAVE to buy 2 of them to get the deal.jrboy wrote:You can buy a $30 blu-ray and get the Nightmare set for $75

It's not the same as getting $500 worth of gas. Gas gets consumed, and you will always buy more. With this deal, you have to buy 2 identical items. Who wants to do that? And no, you can't buy multiple items that total $150, I asked. There is no other way, if you want their advertised sale price, you HAVE to buy 2 of them. It's ridiculous.GoofyGoofyGoofy wrote:This is a bit off-topic but... I've seen ad for $500 of free gas if you spend $999 at some store. It's exactly like this Nightmare deal. Yes i did read that part, however blu-rays can't be discounted, so that means the Jack set will be discounted. But it seems that the DMC cought onto this and locked the Jack set in at $149.95 (so no more discounts on the Jack set, even if you buy 2 of them or a blu-ray)mvealf wrote:No, you can't. No, that means nothing will be discounted, since you didn't meet the requirement for discounting the Jack set (buying 1 other item for at least $149.95). I ordered a Blu-Ray Nightmare and the Sword In the Stone gift set, used the discount code, and was charged full price for both since I didn't meet their requirement.jrboy wrote:Yes i did read that part, however blu-rays can't be discounted, so that means the Jack set will be discounted.

No, 1 person would have to pay full price, and the second one would be half price.Eeeevah! wrote:All I would suggest with items this expensive is finding someone you trust to buy as a co-op. Then you both get it at half price, otherwise its a rather nice Christmas present for someone given the subject and time of year...
It is rather a poor offer.
