Here's the movies that I wish would get a special Edition (and long overdue re-release) DVD in '08:
-Beetlejuice...the DVD I have of this was released in 1997!
-The Birds
-E.T......Just beacause I love it so!
-Home Alone 2....but definitly not 3 or 4!
-Paper Moon....the DVD that's out is ok, but it'd be nice to have a special edition 2-disc set

I've got "Lili" on video; it's an absolute charmer. No love for Lili (1953), also starring Leslie Caron?
Right now, that is my most sought-after movie!
I'm hoping Warners will someday realise just how popular Leslie Caron still is, and release a Leslie Caron Signature Collection with a new Ultra-Res "Gigi", plus "Lili", "The Glass Slipper", "The Man with a Cloak" and "The Story of Three Loves".
Image Entertainment is releasing the lovely Caron vehicle "Fanny" on DVD very soon. It's a pity Warners let it get away.

I saw Lili for the first time last summer, when my public television station ran it a few times. Something in the description about puppets and the circus caught my attention...Cordy_Biddle wrote:I've got "Lili" on video; it's an absolute charmer. No love for Lili (1953), also starring Leslie Caron?

I LOVED this film! It was so well done - very touching, and with a lot of heart. I was shocked to later learn it had never been issued on DVD, and agree that it should be.
As for my wishlist (and this doesn't have to be 2008, it could be anytime). Regardless of if these come out on blue ray, this wishlist is for STANDARD DVD releases of the following (and this is just scratching the surface)
* Song Of the South
* So Dear To My Heart
* EVERY Walt Disney Productions/Walt Disney Pictures film that has never been on DVD or is currently OOP, in the correct aspect ratio - especially Big Red, a personal favorite.
* EVERY Walt Disney Productions theatrical short or featurette that has never been available on DVD (People and Places, etc.)
* Disneyland/Walt Disney Presents/Wonderful World of Color etc. (aka the Disney anthology series) - COMPLETE season sets for the ENTIRE series!
* Lassie - COMPLETE season sets for the ENTIRE series!
* Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo - COMPLETE season sets for the ENTIRE series!
* Flipper - season one is out, now let's get the rest!
* Gentle Ben - COMPLETE season sets for the ENTIRE series!
* The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams - COMPLETE season sets for the ENTIRE series!
* Zorro - COMPLETE season sets for the ENTIRE series!
* Mickey Mouse Club (ORIGINAL version) - COMPLETE season sets for the ENTIRE series!
* ALL of the classic Rankin/Bass holiday specials currently unavailable on DVD - such as The First Easter Rabbit, The First Christmas, etc.
* COMPLETE library of Peanuts TV specials, only a handful of which have been released on DVD (I understand this may indeed happen, since Warner aquired the rights from Paramount)
* Complete compilation of EVERY completed Disney short that would have been part of the abandoned Fantasia 2006 project.
* 2 Disc STANDARD DVDs filled with bonus features for EVERY Disney "animated classic" and Pixar film. STOP sabataging the quality of current releases (cough Cars, Ratatouille) to make us want blue-ray, this strategy only makes me MORE determined to stick with standard to the bitter end (if it even ends)
* And much, much, more!
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag"- Mary Poppins
"How high does the sycamore grow? If you cut it down, then you'll never know"- Pocahontas
"I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether he be six or sixty. Call the child innocence." - Walt Disney

If you own a multi-zoned player, you could perhaps import a copy of "Moonwalker" from Australia. Check out www.ezydvd.com.auSigh. The same DVDs I hope come out every year but never do:

Lilo & Stitch 2 disc SE (we know you have everything ready. Put it out already).
OAR releases of about 100 Disney catalog titles. You release 'em I'll buy 'em.
Director's Cut SEs of all Harry Potter films already on dvd.
I would've asked for Dr. Syn but it's coming out as is Beetlejuice later this year (finally). Lots more but you get the idea. There's still a lot of money to be made in standard dvd. I don't care about blu ray.

I want to see a good DVD release of Night of the Creeps like they did for "The Monster Squad".
An unedited version of Fantasia
An unedited version of Melody Time
An anamorphic widescreen version of The Great Locomotive Chase
A Criterion anamorphic version of Armageddon
Walt Disney's Classic Song of the South - unedited
Walt Disney's wonderful So Dear To My Heart - unedited
The live action version of The Story of Robin Hood & his Merry Men with Richard Todd and Jean Peters, digitally remastered and anamorphic widescreen
Any of those would make me a happy camper. And, no, I won't settle for those weird versions that they offer on Walt Disney Movie Club.

But Robin Hood was made in 1952 when all films were created and exhibited in the academy ratio, widescreen would be pointless. Restored, by all means yes and with with bonus features.dvdjunkie wrote: The live action version of The Story of Robin Hood & his Merry Men with Richard Todd and Jean Peters, digitally remastered and anamorphic widescreen

And the Disney Movie Club movies, at least the ones I have bought and returned, have all be no better than a VHS copy of the movie in question. I refuse to pay for second-rate copies of movies, plus Disney Movie Club doesn't tell you whether they are re-mastered or anamorphic, or whatever.
And I know that The Story of Robin Hood & His Merrie Men was shot in Academy 1:33.1, my little dig about anamorphic widescreen is for any of those on the list that can be released and should be released in Anamorphic Widescreen, and not "foolscreen".

All of those movies I listed have been released at one time or another on VHS (except for SotS) and have some sort of edits, to make sure they are PC.What do you mean "unedited"? What's been edited?
And why are the DMC versions "weird"?

The rest of the Addie Mills stories (we got House Without a Christmas Tree last year).
All the stand-alone Disneyland/Walt Disney Presents/Wonderful World of Color/Wonderful World of Disney stories, especially the animal stories and things like "A Taste of Melon" and "The Mooncussers." (And especially "High Flying Spy.")
Season sets of Lassie and Fury.
Good Morning, Miss Dove and 23 Paces to Baker Street in widescreen.
The short-lived series He and She, My World and Welcome to It, and Ellery Queen (the Jim Hutton/David Wayne version).

But the second season isn't even out yet. Anyway, it's definitely on my wish list.scareykatt wrote: mama's family's thrid season!
Other stuff I'd like to see come out is:
As someone previously stated, anything and everything Disney hasn't released or that is out of print. Plus, I'd like to be able to find some of the stuff that IS out there a bit more easy. Now that I have a job and some income, Best Buy put a bunch of their Disney live-action on sale, but most of the stuff that isn't on sale they seem to have taken off the shelf!
I especially want to see all the Disney animated TV shows get released in volumes like DuckTales and some others have, and I'd like them to complete those they've started.
Badly want to see the rest of Gargoyles, Lizzie McGuire, and Swamp Fox.
I very much want them to release Song of the South (unedited), along with unedited releases of stuff they previously released edited, including the redubbed Small One, which I'd like to get with the original dialogue (song lyrics). Also wanna see more Disney Movie Club releases come out for the rest of the public.
Would love to see them put out: Scrooge McDuck and Money, Pacifically Peeking with Moby Duck, Disneyland Showtime, the EPCOT opening celebration, Follow Us to Walt Disney World, the Disneyland Christmas Candlelight Ceremony, Fluppy Dogs, Totally Minnie, the Mouseketeers At Walt Disney World, the Muppets At Walt Disney World, Mickey's 60th, the Disneyland anniversary that had young Ernest and a young Woody from Cheers flashbacks, the Jiminy Cricket shorts, Winnie the Pooh Discovers the Seasons, Harold and His Amazing Green Plants, the What Should I Do shorts, Sport Goofy in Soccermania
Honey I Shrunk the Kids the TV show and all the Mickey Mouse Clubs and the Love Bug series. Oh, and Zorro!
Some Disney Channel movies, new and old, and shows too. Some I'd like in particular are the Zenon trilogy and Thirteenth Year, and old ones like the Return to Treasure Island miniseries and Back to Hannibal: THe Return of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Also would love some of the stuff from ABC and NBC, like My Date With the PResident's Daughter, Return of the Shaggy Dog, and so on...
As for some non-Disney stuff:
(in complete seasons for TV shows)
Werewolf the series
Teen Wolf the Animated series
Big Wolf on Campus
The Real Ghostbusters
Sabrina the Animated Series and Sabrina's Secret Life
Ace Ventura, and lots of other animated shows.
Raggedy Ann and Andy Halloween and Christmas Specials by CHuck Jones
Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure
The Halloween That Almost Wasn't
The Christmas Toy
Ewoks animated series
Droids animated series
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
that weird Addams Family Halloween Special and the 90's animated series
the other Ralphie movies (about the family from A Christmas Story, there were 4 TV movies that need releasing, I think Disney holds the 4th one)
The Midnight Hour (great out of print TV Halloween movie)
Slipper and the Rose (just rereleased it as an edited version, what the heck!)
And there are more, but that's all I can think of right now.
