My first DVD I ever bought was the Gold Collection issue of "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad". Ironically, that was the disc that got me started. I now have literally over 1500 DVDs. Disney accounts for almost half of that DVD library 0_o
"It's Kind Of Fun To Do The Impossible"
- Walt Disney
I can't remember now. It was either Peter Pan Platinum Edition or Robin Hood Most Wanted Edition. Actually, come to think of it, it may have been Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
My parents were awesome enough to buy me The Lion King (and Toy Story) on VHS, but I think the first non-pixar disney DVD was Meet The Robinsons. One of my families favourite films
I didn't see my name in the thread when I skimmed it, so I'll post a reply.
My first Disney DVDs were The Aristocats and Mary Poppins. I bought them back when The Disney Store still sold their movies in regular cases and not the red atrocities they currently use.
My DVD-ROM drive got a lot of use from those movies. I love the songs, stories, and humor of both movies, and they can almost always snap me out of a funk.
"Mustard? Don't let's be silly!"
--Mad Hatter, Alice in Wonderland
I started buying a few DVDs in 2004 and many just happened to be Disney. But the one that got me hooked was "Bambi". I remember seeing ads for "Bambi" coming out in spring 2005. I knew it was one of the most beloved Disney films, but I had never seen it. So I looked forward to getting it, loved the film when I got it, and found it fun to discover what films would be released next.
The first one that started it all for me was Aladdin, for both the DVD and VHS format. After getting Aladdin on DVD, I went on an eBay quest to get the Platinum titles that were released earlier that went OOP. I wish Hercules and Hunchback of Notre Dame would get the re-releases they truly deserve.
I started with "Pinocchio" (part of the original 9) & have never stopped. The original 9 were: Pinocchio-10/26/99 , Mulan, 101 Dalmatians, Hercules-11/09/99 , Peter Pan, Lady & The Tramp, Lion King II: Simba's Pride-11/23/99 & The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book-12/07/99. As they are reissued I pass them along to family & friends but only when the bonus material is included on the reissue.

What do you mean by tricked? Looks to me that you told him the truth...Even if your friends didn't send them to you but you bought them yourself, it is still the same thing.
well dvd players were pricey then..and he;'s not one to instantly upgrade on home theater things...he's content with a small tv as long as its watchable..and a VHS player. i love my dad (
