It might be because Cars was so weakly received they want to make a sequel. You know, to make up for it the disappointment. Of course, refueling the merchandise is always a bonus.MrIncredible wrote:As much as I like Cars, I have to admit, it probably one of Pixar's weaker films, in both making money and being a genuine good movie
I remember watching some bonus feature on my Howl's Movie Castle dvd that they were willing to write sequels as long as there was a good story, and I guess none of the other features besides Toy Story have so far. They also said that Monsters, Inc had a possible sequel, but it ended so beautifully it didn't need one. So basically, I'm expecting a movie better than the original

Actually, it kind of says it'll be 3D:
Unless Disney Digital means something else...[/b]KING OF THE ELVES (Domestic Release Date: Christmas 2012, Disney Digital 3-D(TM)) Walt Disney Animation Studios
Directors: Aaron Blaise, Robert Walker
Producer: Chuck Williams
Legendary storyteller Phillip K. Dick's short story (his only experiment in the fantasy genre) becomes the basis for this fantastic and imaginative tale about an average man living in the Mississippi Delta, whose reluctant actions to help a desperate band of elves leads them to name him their new king. Joining the innocent and endangered elves as they attempt to escape from an evil and menacing troll, their unlikely new leader finds himself caught on a journey filled with unimaginable dangers and a chance to bring real meaning back to his own life.

Probably, but it's also a possibility that, like Toy Story 2 and 3, they're making it to convey ideas that were cut from the original.yukitora wrote:It might be because Cars was so weakly received they want to make a sequel. Seriously, what is Pixar thinking? Granted, I like Monsters, Inc. much more than I like Cars, but in my opinion they are both Pixar's weakest efforts. I did really enjoy Monsters Inc. though, I just think the other films are better. However, I do feel that Monsters Inc. does have potential to produce a good sequel. We'll see.

IMO, It's cars and Bugs' Life that are the weakest. OR maybe Wall-E and cars.Simba3 wrote:Seriously, what is Pixar thinking? It's true, the more that I think of it, Monsters Inc really is a good choice for a sequel. Through it was still my second least favorite, it was 20 times better than Cars was, I actually still really enjoy it, I just like all the other better.DisneyJedi wrote:Can I be honest? I actually kinda was hoping for a Monsters sequel.
I mean, come on! Who wouldn't love something like that? Just the ending made me feel like it was a whole new beginning.

Yeah, I would like a sequel. It's the idea of Boo returning that makes me squirm a little. The ending of the first film practically cancels out that idea.singerguy04 wrote:Monsters, Inc. is by far one of my favorite Pixar films. I would still welcome any extension on that film.

Yeah, she's just one of my favorite characters in it, too cute. I think my overall opinion on the matter is that I'd rather it not have a sequel. If they made one i'd probably like it, but if given the choice i'd rather leave it as is. I wouldn't mind a Incredibles sequel though, it almost seems made for one.ajmrowland wrote:Yeah, I would like a sequel. It's the idea of Boo returning that makes me squirm a little. You pretty much voiced my thoughts right there.singerguy04 wrote:Yeah, she's just one of my favorite characters in it, too cute. I think I would only enjoy a Monsters sequel if Boo does not return. That's right--I don't care to see what she looks like as a teenager, Pixar.
Anyway, I wonder if there's any possibility of the human world finding out about the monster world in this sequel?

Humans finding out would kill another Idea that the first had: the Idea of KIDS being scared of monsters and grown-ups being disbelieving.Disney's Divinity wrote:I think I would only enjoy a Monsters sequel if Boo does not return.
