"High School Musical 2" definitely isn't trash! And neither is "The Cheetah Girls 2". I think they're made-for-TV sequels- the "Parent Trap" films with the triplets? I haven't seen them in years, but I used to love them!

Just watched The Darjeeling Limited. I quite liked it, 9/10.

Also, I saw Horton Hears a Who the other day and it was much better than expected, 7.5/10.

So Dear to My Heart (1949), after a long time of reading abut this film and seeing pictures of it and always wishing I could see it I finally did see it today after luckily finding a used VHS copy. I'm very glad I did see this and I do actually like it better than Song of the South because it's more satisfying and not "oh, I wish they would have just made the whole thing animated".

The Fountain
It was... interesting. It's not really a film I would recommend or want to watch again, but I guess it was worth watching. I'd compare it to a visual poem more than a traditional movie. I feel there was a good story waiting to get out - it basically contrast's two attitudes towards death between two people - but there three "time zones" just killed it for me (not that I think the past or future were in any way "real"). Had it just stayed in the "present" I feel it would have been a much better movie - both narratively and concept wise.

A Face In The Crowd
Wow, what a fantastic movie. And being as it was made in 1957 another movie which was way ahead of its time. Primarily it's a film about general media manipulation: a person who has charisma is promoted in the media as the new media sensation and thus becomes one. But he has other ambitions, and despite a deep held (and hidden) comtempt for the public longs for political power.

A movie is also all about politics and how people are manipulated into voting the way they do. It often compares choosing a political leader to choosing everyday household like soap powder or make-up and compares political campaigns to advertising. It also warns about how complex issues are degraded to simple tag-lines repeated by candidates, which in reality mean nothing, and address none of the political issues of the day. Considering television was new at the time the film was made, the film is spot-on about how television has corrupted politics and how it has led to issues being dumbed down for easy public consumption. I think this film should be required viewing for everybody – and hopefully if it is, some of the media tricks being used today won't work on them.

Easter Parade (1948) again of course and Here Comes Peter Cottontail (1971). The second one is just an hour long TV special, but I thought the special was just magic! I mean, nothing says Easter like a villain voiced by VINCENT PRICE! And I loved the song "Be Mine" and all the different holiday sequences. I thought about buying it before on DVD but I felt I just wasn't in the "Eastery" mood, and I didn't even know it was on today so THANK YOU CBC for showing it!

For the most part, I agree with your assessment. However, despite the good cast and that it was an interesting story idea, I found the movie itself to be torture to sit through, and so did my parents and little sister. We went to see it in theaters, something we rarely do anymore, and we came so close to walking out through the whole thing. I felt the organization of the three stories, the editing, everything was what made the movie not work. It has this droning feeling throughout. There was at least one scene (as I recall, it was a long time ago when I saw it) that they kept replaying. It was so frustrating! Made it difficult to like these characters that you're supposed to connect with. Good ideas, bad movie!

What was worse, when we went to see it, we were expecting something totally different based on the advertisements. We just thought it was a movie about Ponce de Leon with some fantasy/sci-fi tied in! Nothing more annoying than when the trailers give you the wrong idea. Not all of us have read the books most of these films are based on.

I watched "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" too! LOVE that one! I watched it Friday night though (along with It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown). I may try to watch it and Charlie Brown again tonight, I don't know. I haven't bought either on DVD yet, but my parents have the VHS releases. I will see if I can get Peter Cottontail at half price tomorrow morning at Target! A while back, they stopped putting holiday DVDs at half price, but they had a few actually in the Easter section this year, so those might get the mark-down after all (unless they put them away before the store opens). I also want to get the 4 Peter Cottontail action figures off Ebay or something. I did manage to get one last month, the girl bunny (who comes with the Easter Bonnet), but the others (Peter, Sassafrass, and Irontail) are harder to find, even on Ebay (especially Irontail). Oh, the song I really liked in the special goes "If I Could Only Get Back to Yesterday..."

I like that song too and I'm guessing Irontail is the hardest to get because he's the most popular. I'm tempted to buy the DVD even though it won't be marked down just so I can see it whenever. I also think CBC may have made some edits like they do with the Rankin Bass Christmas special. I'll also see if I can get the Easter Bunny is Comin' to Town since I've never seen that one.

Well, yeah, no Peter Cottontail price reduction after all. I was a bit surprised since they had that and a few other Easter DVDs over in the Easter section as if they were truly seasonal items that would get a markdown the day after. They used to reduce that stuff, but they'd all be sold by the time you got to the store.

Loe that movie!! Definitely one of the best 2007 and Amy Adams deserved at least an Oscar nomination. She was totally snubbed.
However the movie does hav one flaw that I guess has been pointed out many times: its villain. Sarandon's Narissa or the character Narissa is just not strong enough, IMO.

I hate musicals, so I wouldn't even watch that movie. But Cheetah Girls 2 is definitely trash.

I liked those movies too. But that's because they have the charm of the 80's / early 90's on their side. Technically, they're still trash.

Bee Movie: This was an interesting perspective on the life of bees, really loved the characters, the plot could've been alil stronger but it was worth watching. I laughed so hard at the "Pooh gets shot" joke.

Enchanted: I thought it was a tongue in cheek Disney film, mainly for big Disney fans who can spots Disney's jokes towards their films. It came off as a modern verison of Mary Poppins (which is sort of true) the plot was quite interesting yet Prince Edward could've been alot smart, less gay (yeah he looked/acted gay)

Horton Hears A Who: This had me worried, after the horrid Cat In The Hat film, but when I heard it was gon'na be in CGI I calmed down a bit. Been awhile since I read the actual story, so I was confused on what was part of the story and what was extended. Jim C. was totaly perfect for Horton along with Steve C. as the Mayor of Whoville, lookin forward to Horton Hatches An Egg.

Warlock (1989) - Gets off to a bit of a slow start and it's a little heavy with one-liners, but this is one hell of a fun, exciting, and well-made fantasy / horror film. I may be overrating this in some people's eyes, but this is the first really satisfying horror film I've seen after seeking out so many disappointing "classics" recently.






Wendigo (2001) - this one is way too weird, the ending is criminally unfair, and the horror sequences are poorly done and cliched. But the acting is excellent, the writing is acceptable, and the nature / winter photography is indescribably gorgeous. At least it's a lot better than The Blair Witch Project, which it seems to be inspired by. And for sharing a lot of similarities to Lucky McKee's The Woods (2005), it's better than that as well. As a mystery, it delivers more than any of M. Night Shamylan's crackpot whackfests.

How did he act look or gay? He's a Disney prince for cryin' out loud! He dresses like he is in a storybook because he comes from that kind of land. The outfit is as important as a superhero's. Also I see nothing gay in the gay he acted.

Who said they were making that? Egg was the 1st Horton book and Blue Sky is making Green Eggs & Ham next. Although I'd like to see it as a film.

Chicago- I loved it! Definitly in my top ten. Can't wait to buy the "Razzle Dazzle" edition.

Tuck Everlasting- I actually liked this one. It felt pretty short, though.

I used my free coupon for this. It was okay. Some funny scenes, but there were some they could have done without.

I went over my friend's house today, and we watched "Newsies" (which she had never seen before, but she really liked it- I love it more every single time I see it) and "Enchanted" (which she had seen before)- a very fun afternoon of very wonderful films!

Well I know Prince Edward didn't come off gay but look at the past Princes none of 'em were over the top. I mean in the animated world it worked, but for live action, should've made him more smart everytime he was in live action..... sorry for stirrin trouble.
