Favorite Disney DVD audio commentary?
I'm not sure if this has been done before, but what is your favorite Disney DVD audio commentary? I have almost no life at all, so I always have time to listen to commentaries. I think my favorite Disney ones are TLM and BatB; how about the rest of you?

DVDs of Disney Animated Movies with AUDIO COMMENTARY - title says it all.
Aside from the two brief deleted scenes, there's no commentary available on any features or bonus materials in any release of AWE (be it retail or the BestBuy bonus disc), so I have no idea what wdwnut4life is talking about, unless it's some secret mp3 hidden on the disc that I have yet to discover...
Anyway, I don't listen to commentaries as often as I'd like, mainly because no one I know enjoys them as much as I do, so I'd have to watch it by myself with commentary. But I enjoy a lot of the ones with John Canemaker, even if his voice is so...gentle and calm...that it sometimes puts me to sleep. Two of my favorite commentaries are from Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty. Both have a great moderated format, where a host gives some production tidbits while also introducing long-and-extended comments by other commentators. I also really liked the Canemaker commentary for Dumbo, and since Dumbo is such a short film, I simply watch the movie straight through, then watch it again with commentary! Strangely enough, I rarely listen to the commentaries for any of the recent films (anything from Little Mermaid onward), though I've given them all at least one sit-through (yes, even The Lion King). I don't think I ever finished the one for Mulan, but that may have been due to time rather than devotion.
Regarding the live-action titles, I was in stitches listening to the commentary for The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe with Adamson and the kids. It's such a joyful and energetic track, with a healthy balance of "yay, this was fun!" and "now this scene was done with..." types of remarks. It's such a pity that of the many vintage live-action titles out there, only a scant few have commentaries. Of the ones in my collection, I've tried listening to the commentaries for The Shaggy Dog, Swiss Family Robinson, and Mary Poppins, but more often than not, I'd switch to the regular audio at the half-way point, or just turn it on during scenes where I hope/expect them to discuss how they did it. I think the only old film I've done with the complete commentary is The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, and that was a couple years ago.
Also, as enjoyable as some of the POTC commentaries are, I usually just give them one listen. Don't know why, I guess it depends on my mood.

I've enjoyed the commentary on the following
Jungle Book: Very informitive and quite captivating. I loved the audio clips feat. Wollie Reithermen
The Jazz Singer: alil hard to grasp but very touching and has some historic praise here/there
Aladdin: Haven't listened to the animation commentary yet, but so far the director's commentary was enjoyable.
The Outsiders: Amazing, fun, lil dark here/there but defintly worth listening.
Beauty and the Beast: C+, it's not grand and full of excitement but worth the time.
Wizard of Oz: Like I said with Jazz's commentary, hard to grasp at 1st. But if you're an Oz buff then this is the perfect one for you.
I am hoping that the following Platinums and other films will have detailed commentary, too bad Lady and the Tramp didn't recieve a commentary, would've been neat.

BatB's commentary was excellent! TLM's was pretty good too

I love watching films with commentaries! Some of my very favorites are:
Lemony Snickets a Series of Unfortunate Events - Commentary by Brad Silberling and the real Lemony Snicket. Absoluetly hilarious! Snicket (aka Daniel Handler) is one of the most smartly funny people I've ever heard! He owns the track and Silberling can barely keep up without breaking! I suggest if you have never heard this track before to find a way to immediatley!
Beauty and the Beast/Hunchback of Notredame - Commentary by Don Hahn, Kirk Wise, and Gary Trousdale. All three play off each other so well, the tracks are very funny while still being informative.
Pirates of the Caribbean CotBP - Commentaries by The Writers, as well as commentary by Keira Knightley and Jack Davenport. The writers: Extremely Informative. Keira& Jack: So much fun! I wish it was throughout the whole movie!
Pirates of the Caribbean DMC - Commentary by The Writers. Again, just loaded with information. I was vey upset when no commentary appeared on the AWE DVD.
The Simpsons Seasons/Movie - Just great fun to listen to!

The old Artisan DVD (OOP and extremely rare) had an audio commentary by Michael Ballhaus (Director of Photography). Unfortunately, it wasn't carried over to the recent MGM disc that came out last year (and neither were any of the brief featurettes that are on non-R1 DVDs).Mason_Ireton wrote:The Fabulous Baker Boys

I enjoy listening to commentary if they talk about trivial information that's not completely obvious. I only really watched the commentary for The Little Mermaid, and that was pretty informative, talking about the different shots and how certain shots took more than one time to animate (at the moment, I can only remember the shot of the ship from the opening sequence, and the shot at the end of Part of Your World, where Ariel reaches out of her grotto).
However, it was really hard for me to understand who was talking at whatever point. I think there were like, four different men in that one commentary, and at several points, one of them just went really quiet. lol
I, like Sunset Girl, watch the available commentary during the second time I'm watching it, though. It's better that way, IMO. I feel like watching some commentary now. lol
