First of all, I can not tell you how much I love the original series!
But yes, a remake of Bewitched is to be made in the UK for the BBC this year!!!! The show will star British sitcom actress Sheridan Smith as Samantha and is due to start filming the pilot episode within the next few months!
It was actually announced in November, but somehow I didn't find out about it until now!
To be honest, I can't stand british sitcoms, and wish the remake would be done in the US, but I'm so excited to see some new life given to the original after the movie was somewhat disappointing that I'm happy to have it produced anywhere!
OK, it's not necessary to produce a remake of the show, but if it means that Bewitched fans like me have a new show to watch pased on the treasured original, I'm all for it!

I just hope they do it justice!
On a side note, Elizabeth Montgomery, who played Samantha in the original series, received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame posthumously on January 4th 2008! And about time too!!!!
Bewitched to be remade for British TV!!!
I don't think you will like it Candydog!
Sheridan Smith (who I must state I adore) has a very down to earth, working class northern style (best seen in "Two Pints..." and her role as Lucie Miller in the McGann Dr Who Audios) which makes me think this Samantha is going to be far removied from the US original.
Still, we can only see what happens!

Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Sheridan Smith also recently played Audrey in a successful West End revival of "Little Shop of Horrors"; I'm not terribly familiar with her work so I can't comment on how well she'll adapt to the role of Samantha.
I actually really enjoyed the "Bewitched" movie, (and it's refreshing remake-within-a-remake premise). As to whether this new British remake will work, let's wait and see.
And I am so glad to know Ms Montgomery has finally received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. May she rest in peace.

I'd heard rumors of this, but I'm glad to know it's true. Hopefully they can do justice too, it. Are there any original "Bewitched" cast members still alive to make cameos on the series?
By the way, I heard about Elizabeth Montgomery's star in probably November. I'm surprised it took this long for her to get one.
