Thanks dvdjunkie! My completely intact sets are worth more now!
Unfortunately you are so wrong. Since I am director of a collector's show that travels to over 10 states in the US, I can tell you that the tins don't make the set worth anymore. In fact, they are the same price with or without the tins. Most collector's view the tins as 'space hogs' in the collection.
Go to a few collector's shows and you will see. Don't pay attention to eBay or Yahoo Auctions, those are for the lazy people who don't get out and shop. If you look for a collector's show in your area, you can really add to your collection for not very much money, and all of the DVD's there are certified as originals and guaranteed.
All of my dealers are checked out to make sure that they don't seel "seconds" (or bootlegs), and if they aren't willing to put some type of guarantee with what they are selling, I don't let them sell.
Most collectible thing in our shows right now, are Disney toys that were issued and marketed with the movies. The Captain Jack Sparrow doll is probably the highest valued piece, followed by the Barbossa doll.
