Family Guy The Movie Review Thread

Post by yankees »

Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin The Untold Story
Written and Voiced By Seth McFarlane

Story: Based On The FOX hit show... Stewie sees a man on TV that looks exactly like him... that guy lives in Calafonia and he thinks that is his father... som him and Brian set off to Calafornia and Stewie learns that him an the future and he sees what happens in his life.

Review: Like I said in The American Dad thread I just got into Family Guy and I find it a funny show... The things that I like about Family Guy are the chracters and the pop culture references. While It may not be as good as the old simpson episodes I find them funnier then the new ones. So i heard a few months ago that they were coming out with this. So I decided to rent it. I thought about Buying it but Im glad I didnt. The Family Guy Movie could have been alot better. The movie starts out slow with the premire... but then it gets funnier... but after him and Brian get drunk the movie gets slow.... The movie is somewhat funny... The problem is that The whole Brian and Stewie Trip to Calafonia and when there looking for his dad  is boring... there tery to make jike s but it doesnt work... The only good thing really pasyt the TIVO scence is that we get to see the chracters when there older.... So only the first half an hour is good... The Funniset scences are probb the trailers and the begginning of the movie and thats it. The Peter and Lois and Chris and Meg scences were funny but they needed more chracters all we really got was stewie (like spongebob movie). Chris and Meg only really have a few lines in this movie but they needed more. Peter and Lois I think are the funniest chracters in the show but they needed to be funnier in this movie. The Disney stuff thougjh was hilarious in this movie. And They needec One Plot Not 3 Plots really

Closing thoughts
Here is my theory of the movie... its 90min... an episode is 30min so basically its like 3 episodes and only one of them is good. Who Should See This Movie?? I would only reccomend HUGE family guy fans and thats really it... Overall I was dissapointed with the movie and it could have been better.

Grade: 3/10

I was thinking about starting a thread

I didn't know what to expect, because I have never seen a family guy episode before.

I just bought the movie, and I find it OK. Its not as good as simpsons, in my opinion. Peter Griffin is not as funny as homer simpson. I didn't like the jokes made in the movie, including the gandhi reference. I did find some of the references to pop culture interesting, but thats about it. I don't find family guy humor that funny. The whole plot didn't really make sense. The movie also contains a lot of swears, and I'm not too fond of movies/tv shows with a lot of swears (South Park)

I'll have to agree with the original poster, and recommend only to family guy fans. You either love the humor, or you dislike it. I dislike it. I give it a 5/10

The movie starts out with a ten minute or so prologue involving the Family Guy characters going to their big movie premier. Its okay, not overly funny and I also believe that this and the closing sequence may not be in the tv version, as that is said to be different. I believe we will be getting this different version the upcoming Family Guy Season 4 DVD set.

Anyway, the film feels like three episodes pulled together because they are 3 episodes pulled together. In fact, the story really doesn't even get going until the 2nd episode. There are little starts and sputter of the plot in the first part, but it really doesn't get going until later.

To give away anything about the plot specifically would spoil the movie, so I won't get into any of the details of that here. There are plenty of pop culture references throughout the film and typical Family Guy style humor.

I thought that the film was really funny. Its probably not the best thing to start out with if you've never seen the series before, but for fans it's a lot of fun. The animation seemed somewhat better than usual as well.

One small thing about the disc that was kind of annoying is that you have to go to the audio menu to select the uncut version, otherwise certain words are bleeped out. Its not a major thing but it would have been nice to go right to that since it was advertised as being uncensored. Not a big deal though.

I liked it, but I'm glad I didn't buy it. It has plenty of laughs, but since it was a direct-to-video uncensored release, I expected that Seth MacFarlane would've pushed for more naughtiness and daring, than just the "f" word being dropped occasionally.

(And for those who didn't see FG before they watched the movie, the show is somewhat less offensive on TV, because there are no swear words on the televised episodes.)

It was hardly a movie, more like a 3 part episode. It was decent, there's been single episodes of Family Guy that have been better then the whole movie. I think the title of the movie confuses a lot of people, as a lot of my friends didn't know this was a movie. They just thought it was a package of some of episodes, like we get with the Simpsons. The title of the movie is to long and doesn't make it sound like it's anything new or a movie or something.

Its a good thing it wouldn't have swear words on TV. Simpsons doesn't, save the swear words for south park.

I liked the movie although it was nothing spectacular. I hope the 'Futurama' and 'The Simpsons' movies are better than this. Anyways this Friday I'll be buying this on DVD since it's becoming hard to find already in my area.

I thought it was very funny. Whoever did the Randy Newman impression after Disney's the Bunny and the Bear was hysterical. Great Star Wars reference with the Jawas. And the bit about Walt thawing out, I was horrified and laughing at the same time.

I bought it when it first came out. The "Movie" was okay but nothing special. I did not laugh a whole lot, just at a few gags. It was actually just three episodes combined.

I bought the movie when it first came out, and thought it was great. It basically was a 3 part episode.
